If people pumped money into Marathon hoping to get a D3 they'd get more Marathon rather than the D3 they desire. All of this is just a desperation plea, Marathon will never be profitable for Bungie as not only have they not broke even on development costs they are continually spending more than they are making. Bungie closure by 2027 is guaranteed at this point. Bungie devs were vastly overpaid for the quality and quantity of content they were producing anyway. Sony will either throw the IP in the graveyard with the rest or maybe but very unlikely put out some stuff for the IP but not D3.
