The fact that all of it is reused assets from both worlds means that you end up associating it with the original game worlds, not as it's own setting. Again, in theory, this could be interesting. You can have an old location be put in a new context. I still liked Colony 9 because you can see the skeleton of what it used to be but it's been so gutted by time that pieces are missing. Everything is more "practical" if that makes sense. The Liberators use it as training grounds and all of it looks temporary. But then you have shit like Maktha Wildwood. It's Morytha with Makna Forest stapled onto it. Now that's a pretty decent start but also this is a land that's been at war for, at least, a millennium. It borders Keves Castle but there's an Agnian Colony in there. You mean to tell me there's no stories attached to the location? No one took up residences in the thousands of buildings there? All of the settings take place within the Colonies and everything outside of those tiny bubbles are just nondescript wasteland. She doesn't know about the Cycle of Rebirth, so finding your own corpse is going to freak you out. In cutscenes she's on the edge of panic attacks but she doesn't tell the party because how do you explain something like that. You'd think that'd come up right? What's wrong with Eunie? She's not acting like herself. Nope! Most we get is Taion making her some calming tea. This would already be not enough but the game wants you bouncing between Colonies to complete their quests and in those quests Eunie is her normal self. So when you get to the Annihilator in Keves Castle and D notices that Eunie recognizes him, I genuinely forgot that Eunie is supposed to have been emotionally damaged here or that this was something she needed to overcome. Because the structure of the game incentives stopping the plot for hours at a time. Taion suffers for this too. Taion's whole deal is that he's struggling with guilt. He goofed on a strategy and it got a bunch of his friends killed, including Nimue whom he had a lot of respect for. This led to him being hypervigilant to doing everything by the book. Meaning being Ouroboros is frustrating to him because no one knows what the fuck this is. There's a bit of room for character in here right? Because he's so by the book, we can get a window into what makes Agnus different from Keves since he embodies all their values. Nope. It barely comes up. His abrasive personality fades away after like an hour. What had me audibly yelling at my screen is when you return to Colony 9. And Zeon demands you prove your loyalty by helping attack an Agnian colony trying to ambush them. Taion should be losing his fucking mind. His core memory is his friends being killed by Kevesi soldiers. But he says nothing. Not even a small complaint. Why?

The problem with dead colonies is that once their clocks are gone, they don't produce anything useful anymore and are essentially dead weights. Sure, they could cut them up, but those are huge mechas we are talking about, and since all colonies are constantly on the moves in a normal conditions (as in Noah didn't destroy their cloaks) then we can infer they just don't have time, and possibly not the storage needed to store those Ferronis parts. Remember Alexandria's cave and how the party was impressed by the huge amount of ressources, but then it was basically 6 containers in a small cave?
