it's time to raise vidya prices to $100. gamers can afford it.
>>
Is sector 42 or w/e coming out this year?
>>
>Pre-production of Star Citizen began in 2010 with production starting in 2011 using CryEngine 3.

Is this game fun? Why are they pumping so much money into it?
>>
>>739600672
No, its barely a game at all

literally money laundering
>>
>>739600672
They tell themselves it's fun even though it's a janky demo.
The entire game is buoyed by the sunk cost fallacy.
Ten years ago you had retards smugly buying in because it was an early metaverse scam, and now those same people are still buying in because it's a metaverse scam.
>One day this supergame will be so advanced it's almost REAL!
>I'll be able to make REAL money in this game, it's so immersive it's almost REAL!
>*game is dogshit*
It's Decentraland but with more money because it got in while the grifting was good.

what is there to be mad about here?
>>
>>739600872
Not really. Inser the Gabe Newell quote about "realism =/= fun" here
>>
>>739600896
>get people to give you ONE BILLION DOLLARS over a period of 10+ years
>still don't deliver the product you promised
>>
>>739601014
That's because they had backer goals that inflated dev time to the point that Dobson would hyperventilate.
Plus I assume they're just milking it, and if the retards keep buying, why not let them?
>>
Imagine how much better gaming discussion would be if games cost $100 and had unbreakable copy protection
>>
>>739600480
Only "whales" can afford it
>>
>>739600672
After 16 years of non stop development they have an empty social zone, the most basic of flight sims and 2 PvP raid maps which are better to rat and gank around the hanger than actually play
16 years
A billion dollars
>>
>>739600784
It's the same kind of logic behind a luxury restaurant charging 500 dollars for a burger. Is it actually that much better than a normal burger? Probably not. But you know what, even if it's worse, the people who buy that kind of thing are going to praise it anyway because the ego blow of wasting that kind of money is too immense.
The Star Citizen community is full of scammed retards who will never, ever, EVER admit it.
>>
>>739601014
You'd have to be an idiot to actually deliver something at this point
Just keep 'working on it' and taking money
>>
Can affort it? Sure.
GL assuming wokie trash deserves or gets that though
>>
>>739600480
I can afford it, but I wouldn't pay it. I'm already not paying $70, and for $60 games I usually wait for sales.
There's a difference between "can" and "will".
>>
>>739600672
Its literally a scam
>>
>>739601295
Kek, I had that exact discussion yesterday when my sister told me she's thinking of buying a keyboard for $300
>Don't do that, that's retarded
>But all the reviews are super good!
Yeah no shit people who paid $300 for a fucking keyboard wouldn't want to admit they got scammed, kek
>>
>>739600672
Actual parasocial parasite. They perfected the art of milking absolute retards that should not have financial autonomy.

cobra mk3 my beloved
atleast you dont cost $500 in elite dangerous...
>>
>>739600672
I enjoy it. I like loading a rover into my ship and flying to a planet and riding around. I have been doing some cargo missions and its been fun. Idk why people get so butthurt. If tards want to spend 5k on a ship (that is not even playable yet) then let them. I bought the cheapest package and will buy everything else with in-game currency.
That being said, its not optimized so FPS is all over the place. But I enjoy it more than Elite Dangerous or Starfield.

>>
>>739600480
How can you justify selling a spaceship for $5000?
>>
>>739600672
Faggots are selling and trading ships. It has devolved to an NFT game
>>
>>739600480
This is some Scientology level support going on with this game.
>>
>>739600480
scam citizen still exists?
>>
>>739600480
There is no reason to sell a game for more than 20$
Tools are free, knowledge is free, production of copies is essentially free, distribution is trivial, the audience is constantly growing, and you have to compete with over 40 years of classic games that comprise a backlog that could keep you entertained for your lifetime with entirely novel, quality content.
>>739600672
Hubris and the misguided Kikestarter/90s investor schtick of "more funding money means that more content needs to be made".
Instead of just settling for something achievable and pocketing the extra money, the game is a monument to scope creep that also pockets the extra money.
>>739604130
I don't think Scam Citizen has the same level of government infiltration, large lobbyist groups, off-shore child indoctrination centers and well-documented, unprosecuted cases of torturemurder that Scientology has.
>>
>>739602846
You could do all of this in No Man's Sky.
>>
>>739604934
completely different types of games.
>>
>>739604994
Yeah, No Man's Sky is an actual game that doesn't ask for more than the actual game price and the devs keep adding new content for free.
>>
got the game for free with a AMD card
can't complain

Here's what's going to happen, if it hasn't already.

They're going to stary using AI to "cut costs" and "achieve their goals on the roadmap". This will of course not go over well but they'll do it anyway because they keep chasing the latest thing always to stay "current". Then instead of actual work done they'll retool their entire workflow to keep showing off AI generated stuff to prove it's servicable. Then they'll double down on defending this as they add more and more AI nonsense that will further muddy up the goals and roadmap.

Huh, same stats
>>
They've got like 80% of their devs working on the single player game that's been "almost ready for release" and "undergoing polish" since 2018. The multiplayer is getting drip content even though only like 2% of the promised content has been released in 13 years.

The content you can do is live service FOMO grind that the writing team put out, gang warfare stuff. Or you can deliver boxes and torpedo a few NPCs to grind bounty hunter rank. Ranks don't do anything yet as far as I know and it's been over a year since I heard anything about this game and I'm confident it's still in that state.

I won't be logging in, I guess. Fuck Chris Roberts.
>>
>>739604040
Well they usually cost a few million dollars so $5000 is a steal
>>
>>739605432
ranks give you access to better contracts, and I think some gear or ships may have rank requirements.
There are a lot of contract types including mining, salvage, and the newest one refueling.

It's just rich people wasting money on a dream.
