I'm not sure. I was diagnosed a few years ago and without the meds I'm just a miserable mess, thousand thoughts circulating, impossible to start a task.
Now one could argue that stimulants just simply elevated me from being a lazy bum, but I never felt lazy, just unable to focus on one thing, which I can do now. Also I can still be lazy with the meds if I want to.

Maybe you’re just overstimulated. It’s easier to deal with if you work or do schooling from home but I spend a lot of time listening to calming stuff. I credit it partially to why I look much younger than I actually do. I just let my stress melt away. As I type this I’m listening to asmr through noise canceling headphones, sandwiched between two fuzzy bodypillows in pajamas.

Put that guy in a library with a book for a few hours and he stops being retarded
>>
>>739603813
It does exist. If you have parents who yell and scream at eachother/at you during childhood, your brain spaces out to protect itself. So everytime you try to focus on something thats a bit boring, your brain starts to space out, I.E: can read the same school book page 5 times and you space out after the first two sentences.
And the meds help with this, because it makes you focus, but thats what amphetamines does. ADHD is not some disease, it's just your brain is fucked

>>
>>739611610
They have the opposite problem.
Both use it regulate, but for different needs. For adhd its to establish a consistancy so they can focus. For autists its to mellow out their hypersensativity.
>>
>>739612161
I think the fan just represents the neglectful part. It's an object that you ignore because no focus.

>>
>>739611970
It's definitely real. There are 2 girls in my school (One 7, one 9) I work at who are nice as pie and smart enough for their age, but they both have legitimate and notable issues with their attention spans that goes beyond bad behavior or choices. It's like they're constantly focusing on multiple things at once beyond their control, and it does inhibit their capacity to learn. They are genuinely nice girls though, which is why I can't pin behavior to it. Some kids are just brats.

Neither are on meds as far as I know (Maybe the UK treats it differently to the US as I believe there was some sort issue with distribution to kids there) but their main issue isn't the actual attention span, that just requires more focused support, it's more the extreme mood swings they can have, basically leaving them in a rock bottom nervous breakdown and in despair for hours. As someone who has suffered with that for different reasons, it's hell and I feel for them. I hope they will be ok.

I've been diagnosed with ADHD for as long as I can remember, which is coming up on 30 years now. I'm fine to just sit down and play a game if I can be arsed to boot it up, but my interest in them usually begins waning around the 30-40 hour mark so I tend to gravitate towards shorter games. I'm also always in the middle of like 10+ games at any given moment, and some games I've left unbeaten for decades (looking at you, Goldeneye).

It exists, but the symptoms are blamed for too many things. The issue with ADHD is that your body doesn't receive dopamine signals the way it should, which means your internal sense of reward and motivation is fucked up at a physiological level and the brain has to try stupid hard to compensate. It's like having a car engine for a brain that has to have the pedal on the fucking floor just to get it to move at 50mph. It accounts for a lot of things - why the meds work (it's brain chemistry), why children are overdiagnosed (natural spergs) and why it's so fucking weird as an adult (you outgrow it at some point, right?). There's no physical indicators for it either, it just makes you be kind of an overstimulated weirdo. For me, the real issue I have with it is that third one, it does some real damage to my self-esteem and sense of feeling like being a functional adult. It is what it is though, and to my credit I've gone unmedicated by choice for well over 15 years now.

It certainly helped with the dopamine deficit that you supposedly get from discipline, otherwise my stats could never look like this.

>heart tremors and light headedness
that's not good you need to exercise or something or you're taking too many and not getting enough sleep and possibly drinking too much or not eating enough too which are all bad for your heart. also smoking is bad for you, doesn't matter if it's just weed because that raises your heart and can make the light headedness worse or make you pass out. and smoking nicotine is bad in the same kind of way. I've been there though and just ignored it and didn't die and it stopped eventually but yeah I don't recommend it but also I guess if it happens you shouldn't freak out and raise your blood pressure even more.

>>

>>

Yeah, it does. We know very well and it's scientifically proven that synaptic connections are changed, strengthened, weakened, or removed in response to lifestyle, habits, etc. Neuroscience is an actual science with scientific method behind it, unlike the psychology that came up with ADHD which is a pseudo-science and has no scientific backing.

Wrong. Im using behavior as a metric. Not all of the aberrant behavior is tied to feelings. That's where the predictive power of the adhd model comes in. From small things like twitchy eye movement to large things like very high drug resistance and consistent time loss. The explanation for this is simple and logical and has broad predictive power, brain's fucked up reward system.

I'm decent at playing new vidya but I can't for the life of me watch more movies or start new anime/manga/books

So the guy says "nope it's not real", but then it still gets diagnosed and the meds/therapy still help people. I get that too many people get wrongly diagnosed, but there's certainly a pattern that one can recognize. A quote like that doesn't really convince me.
>>
>>739621587
He didn't say it's not real, he said it's manufactured, i.e. the way pharmacies treat it is deliberately designed to get kids hooked on amphetamines for life.
>>

>nuh-uh
He literally did. You can look it up if you like.
It's a very interesting case, he made it up, but it seems to be describing something real?

They should dedicate some more research funds to figure this stuff out, it's neat.

>He didn't say it's not real, he said it's manufactured
It's been a long time since I read the quote. Can you source me up? I'm assuming you just read him saying that Thanks.
>>
>>739621903
Context retard. Context. Put the statement in full context with the rest of what he said.
>>
>>739621785
I didn't say it should convince you to do anything.
I just said it's interesting and got me thinking about stopping my meds, back when I did.
That's not advice, and I'm not telling anyone to do anything just because I did it.

I don't understand how it can be "fake" when there's medication that helps it. I didn't take medication until college and then, when I was a couple years into college and still unable to pay attention and doodling in class like a retard, just fucking myself over constantly, I knew that something was definitely wrong. Even though my whole life I tried to deny that I had adhd because I thought it just meant you were a retarded fuckup.
I thought I would grow out of it, but by then I was 100% sure something was wrong because I was trying so hard to be an adult and couldn't do it. Then my friend made me take an adderall pill because he knew I had adhd and I felt way different and calmer and able to focus for the first time. After that, I actually got diagnosed.
It seems like some people who don't have it just can't comprehend what it's like and probably have some adhd tendencies, like being impatient, but not actual adhd and just assume it doesn't exist because they don't get it. It's something that really fucks with you your whole life daily in a lot of different ways. It's practically like autism and you probably wouldn't say that doesn't exist.
>>
>>739622025
Like I said, it's been a long time since I read the full statment, so you might be right.
Where have you read the full statement? I'd love to be on the same page as you.
>>
>>739622054
These niggers would ABSOLUTELY say autism doesn't exist while suffering from it.
>>
>>739622054
autitic is just another way to say retard

If you feel bad, taking meth makes you feel pretty good, no matter what ails you. That's how people get so fucked up without realising it.

Here.
>"ADHD is a prime example of a fabricated disease... The genetic predisposition to ADHD is completely overrated." Instead of prescribing a 'pill', Eisenberg said, psychiatrists should determine whether there are psychosocial reasons that could lead to behavioral problems.
Suffice to say, he's using "manufactured" as in "constructed" or "maintained". It's weaponized. If he was saying it was not real, the next sentence makes no sense to declare, because you can't "overrate" a predisposition to something that does not exist, you would say something more like "falsified".
The complaint is the rate at which practitioners will diagnose a lifelong dependency onto amphetamines for it (or symptoms vaguely similar to it), not denying its existence.

Sharteens aren't sending their best, but judging by this thread they don't really need to. What a sad state of affairs.

I was absolutely miserable in school because I just couldn't generate any interest in anything that was being taught and I don't do well in tests. But I would come home and read stuff like national geographic and watch all kinds of documentaries on whatever looked even remotely interesting and just absorb that shit like a sponge. All kids are eager and great at learning but where and how they are taught can make or break how effectively they gather and retain knowledge, that goes double for the ones on the spectrum or with some kind of ADD. It just has to be nurtured in the right way.
>>
>>739622218
Could I see the link that you got that from?
I don't believe things just because I read them on 4chan lol
>>
>>739622330
That's on wikipedia, which itself references a german website that's paywalled, and claims to be an interview that was released after his death, so even that veracity is behind two layers of obfuscation.

sugar doesn't even actually do that it's placebo from parents telling them not to have too much or they'll go bonkers, and their giddiness over enjoying the candy
>>
>>739622526
is that why a bear will chug a 2 liter of soda and then start running circles
>>
>>739622428
So you haven't been able to verify it, because it's paywalled?
Sorry man, I'm gonna trust my doctor (who probably got passed that paywall) over your take on this one.
But thanks a lot
>>
>>739622568
isn't that because of caffeine, an actual stimulant?
>>
>>739622674
Not all soda has caffeine, so no.
Sugar is full of energy, everyone know that.

Deviations from normal brain can be detected in ADHD patients' brains, and the medications leads to less deviations from normal over time. Claiming it's not real is as stupid as claiming broken bones aren't real just because you can't see under the skin with your eyes.
>>
>>739622954
so is there an example of a bear hopped up on sprite or is this pulled out of your ass?
>>
>>739604403
As an ADHD person I can't relate to this at all, I can't focus at all on anything unless it's just one thing at a time.

>>739623182
>Claims it's real
>Provides no sources
Nice try.

I never said anything like that.
Please don't conflate my posts with someone elses. This is a public forum, anyone can reply to you.

Google it nigger.
>>
>>739623315
You have a web browser open, ask it why are ADHD patients medicated with stimulant medications.
>>
>>739622575
I'm not gonna take your word about any hypothetical doctors, either. For all I know your doctor is a crack addict living in a sewer. Or you hallucinate and have never seen a doctor in your life.
>>
>>739623362
just saying, sugar rush is a fucking myth you can google it and learn as much in 2 seconds
(sugar crash is real though)
and this hypothetical other anon that isn't you said a bear drinking soda would act crazy even though there's another obvious factor, that like 75% of soda brands have a known active stimulant in them.
