The controls revolve around third person shooting yet the gameplay expects you to spend most of your time evading zombies, but you can't do any evasive maneuvers and your character is only capable of jogging at a steady pace. So most of the time when a zombie grabs you, it's because of the limited controls. It would be like if Demon's Souls was exactly the same game that is now, but instead of swords or whatever, you can only use the crossbow in first person mode to deal damage to enemies.
