She has little poise but cancels her recovery after getting hit into a backdash or other attacks, so you can often interrupt her but can't get greedy with punishesThe sparks mean nothing they are just part of some animations, most importantly for the double swipe/single longer swipe which you have to distinguish on the spot and either jump or roll right to avoid
>>739610847You must light roll, her "fuck you" moves and that repeated swing require extremely precise rolling direction on mid roll. With light roll you can just roll away and jump in for a jump R2 as she's finished, keep her in medium range at all times, don't let her pressure you up close because she cheats with HA there. If you see the Waterfowl or Clone attack, run.

Summon Tiche as soon as you enter the room and just use the lay down emote and sleep. Tiche will run around the map pulling aggro, she will dodge Malenia's attacks, and does insane damage + DOT. Tiche is the best summon here, not the Mimic Tear.

>>739610506Phase 1 Malenia has no poise, if you're using a faster weapon you can play super aggressive and just attack her, when she's in hitstun she likes to do a sidestep attack or backdash, if your weapon is particularly fast you can hit her mid sidestep and still have time to dodge. Waterfowl is just a matter of running away from but a scuffed strategy that I like to do is if you're point blank, unlock the camera and run in circles under her, her tracking messes up and she lunges past you giving you enough time to dodge the rest of the hits. If the initial attack of waterfowl hits you though its instant death. You can also parry her on plenty of attacks but the easiest ones to parry are when she spins or when she lets you know she's gonna attack with the sparks. If you're using a heavy weapon just do the same as always, spam jump attacks and play like a bitch.
waterfowl is piss to dodge if you know how>run away as soon as she jumps in the air>first attck will miss you>roll into second attack, very slightly to the right and it'll miss>hold down on the thumbstick while locked on and 3rd attack will miss you
