Ive used a G29 for almost 2 years now

honestly its up to you. personally i think its a steal to drop $90 on a cheap g29 set up to see if you'd be into racing games.
keep in mind. g29 is not that good. its LOUD, rattles the desk if you crash the car. ultimately you want a Direct Drive wheel which is alot quieter and a massive upgrade. the pedals are really bad too, and i would upgrade those first. you also want load cell pedals.

tldr: R5 Moza, and Thrusmaster TLCMs, and a SHH shifter, is going to last you years. a cheap g29 set up to see if you will actually enjoy sim racing is probably fine for now. /r/simracing is a great resource.

I need to get back into AC Rally and DR2 but the itch I always have is for a career racer like Gran Turismo where I start out with a shitbox and have to rise through the ranks. A synthesis between a Rally sim and a GT style career mode would have me painting my pants in cum in an instant. Guess I'll just fuck about in BeamNG until I get bored otherwise.

lol the old gear driven logitech wheels are like peak 90's era arcade wheel violent.

It's calibration routine (it'll spin the wheel from lock to lock through 900 degrees) will snap your wrists if you're hanging onto it when it happens.

Great way to get your feet wet with a wheel though, the logitech wheels aren't the best, but they're plenty good enough and good value. Look at something like a T300RS if you find you really enjoy it down the line and sell the G29 on.

I just played Burnout Paradise and had fun even though the controls feel very scripted and tight (once you handbrake and tilt the sticker slightly, the car will turn 180 instantly) after I tried to play Forza Horizon 6, the worst racing game I've ever played.
