That feature was truly impressive for it's time. To transfer trial of games, sometimes even the full games, all wireless and without internet. To allow anyone to play even if others didn't owned the games. All thanks to games being very lightweightWhat game had the BEST Download Play?
>>739611116PSP did it better
We used to play Metroid Prime Hunters at 7th grade at school
Mario Kart DS. Duh. It united even kids that could not understand each other because of language barrier.
>>739611116Mario Kart DS.Had like 16 classmates who would bring their ds and cycle turns with
>>739611224didn't it only had remote play? that's completely different
>>739611116Megaman Operate Shooting Star had a whole cool new mode with Download Play, where you fought on the overworld map rather than the usual gameplay.https://youtu.be/GMso6AUvVxA?is=h-PveLhxV6DBNkY1
I remember that there was even some Wii games which enabled download play with the DS, that was really impressive
>>739611356it had remoteplay and gamesharehttps://www.lifewire.com/psp-games-with-gameshare-2792549
>>739611356Yes that is completely different, not sure why you thought of thatMany games support it among which is Sonic rivals, I've used it a lot
>>739611356It wasn't calles exactly "download play" but it had its own version of it which worked way better as it was faster and less laggy and also many games supported it. It just wasn't as heavily advertised as the DS feature just like the wifi capabilities. The led poor suckers like me going for the inferior DS instead of a PSP.
>>739611576The ds one wasn't laggy.did you ever use it? Ive used the DS and PSP equivalent
>>739611319No one wanted to play that after one match because the game cucked download players with the most inferior kart in the game and no option to pick anything else.
>>739611224>>739611116GBA did it better. Just needed those dang link cables.
>>739611576>The led poor suckers like me going for the inferior DS instead of a PSP.If you bought a PSP you would have been a sucker anyway.>t. Vita owner that only plays PSP games on it
>>739611609Had both a classic DS and a DSi. Mario Kart DS was in particular one of the laggiest games I've ever played, especially on wifi.
>>739611116not really because if you were downloading, you got an inferior version of the game
>>739611670Yeah but they had an exclusive character, that was pretty cool
>>739611769>Download play>Wi-fiYou are conflating two different things.
Did the 3DS also had this feature? Can't remember anythingSwitch having it would had being nice but games are too heavy now.
>>739611754I bought a PSP like a year later and never touced the DS again. It was just way too lame and primitive compared to the games and features of a CFW PSP. That's how I learned the valuable lesson of never trusting what nintentards say.
>>739611871Only for DS games, not for 3DS games.Just a legacy feature for people using the og games.
>>739611871it had the ds specific one for backwards compatibility 3ds games mostly used friend list stuff i think
>>7396118713DS did streetpass which was the adhoc feature but done differently
>>739611979>>739611993>>739612347it DID had download play, and even allowed players to have saves of their download play games. However, it was heavily restricted in it's file size, so almost no games could actually use it
>>739612347Streetpass has nothing to with download play and adhoc
>>739612870Name a single 3DS game that used download play.
>>739612874adhoc = local wireless featureyou think streetpass used wifi? retarded jit.
>>739612909Mario Kart 7.
>>739612909MK7
>>739612909Just turned on my 3DS. It does indeed offer a choice between "3DS Games" and "DS Games" when you open the 3DS's Download Play app. I think Mario Kart 7 has it. Some games like Pushmo might.
>>739612964Ah yes any local wireless feature is the same fucking thing FTP? Street passCast? Street passMultiplayer LAN? Street passShut the fuck up
>>739611670This.>You will buy ze full game goy
>>739613057>>739613029>>739612985Never played MK7, so that's neat.
What I remember the most is that most games earlier in the life cycle of the console had the feature, but it was a lot less common with the later games
bump
>did had>did had>did had>did hadmy ESL fatigue only grows by the day
