I don't really like bikini armour. In general I prefer more elaborate costume designs rather than just showing a lot of skin for female character. I wouldn't necessarily call it realistic though. It's not like those skirts, capes, tassels, high heels are more realistic. (Last one is a bit of an edge case but the designs are usually more like modern women's shoes and not riding boots)

I can't remember a specific example but there's an armor style often seen in film and games that tries to communicate the wearer to be a skilled swordsman. They're adept enough that there's only a handful of exchanges in which they'd risk taking a blow and only to certain parts of their body. So they skip most of the armor for improved mobility, leaving only the most critical pieces and asymmetrically favoring their stance-forward side.I want to see that with minimal or at least revealing clothing underneath. Like chest-binding top, short skirt and panties with one arm armored (vambrace, spaulder, neckguard) and laminar cuisse or whatever it's properly called (covering hip and thigh). Maybe some kind of splintmail bustier that protects against errant slashes but not against getting stabbed in the heart or kidney or whatever.

Bikini armor is trash with the exception of characters belonging to barbarian cultures.But at the same time female armor need not be autistic about functionality. It should cover most of the torso, as well as legs below the knee. The rest can prioritize aesthetics over utility.
