For me, it's Super Mario Sunshine. Back in 2018, during the winter, I was going through some rough personal shit, and I just wanted to play something happy with no real weight to it, just something fun and happy. Super Mario Sunshine came to mind, and so I put it on, and I just played it all day one day in one big sitting while it was snowing nonstop. Now I can't help but associate the game with winter, snow, and the cold.
>>739612448Some games I end up playing at specific seasons for no discernible reason. Sometime around december-january I always feel like playing XCOM, sometime in the summer I always feel like Factorio
>>739612810I'm the same, I don't usually put a time on when something is "right" to play, but Mario Sunshine is so Summer / Tropical themed that I know it's odd to think of it whenever it's freezing cold and snowing out.
>>739612925It's like a vacation
Wind Waker and cinnamon toast. Me and my sis would make and eat it while sailing around at leisure. That, and blasting her out of the boat mid sail with the tingle tuner were great times
>>739612448I was admitted to the hospital on emergency the day Xenoblade X Definitive Edition came out and I ended up spending a month there during which I played the entire game. I was dismissed right after finishing the new ending, so I now associate the game with keeping me sane while fighting a grave disease and the final chapter specifically with the end of a long wait, both the ten-year one since the cliffhanger of the Wii U version and the month-long one to go back home.
>>739613164That's one of those memories that'll stay with you forever. Comfy, in a way.>>739613162I have something similar with root beer and MediEvil.
I associate Spyro 2 with spring because I have this one distinct memory of playing that game during the spring time when I went over my cousin’s house and brought the disc with me. But I also associate it with a snowstorm because I replayed it many many years later during a snow storm. Mass effect I associate with fall/winter because that’s when it came out and when I first played it. Kingdom Hearts I associate with fall for the same reason.
>>739612448I associate Zelda BotW with covid lockdown, because it was the game I played the most during the beggining of it.I only realized that when I was playing TotK and the menu sounds reminded me of covid times.
I associate the boxing game from game & watch gallery 4 because I played that the whole time on a long drive to my grandma's house and got a retardedly massive high score that was so big that I never played that mini game again because it was pointless to try and beat it or play for that long again.actually not that i think about it, the same for rampage on gbc where I got to level like 100 and something or possibly 300 and something but I did play that game again after.
botw and power rangers because there was a power rangers marathon on twitch when botw came out. comfy ass month
Mario Galaxy playthrough practically in one sitting and Geisha chocolate. Lots of it. And Yule. I have done that trio three times but I haven’t even tried Galaxy 2 yet and I bought that game on release because I loved the first game. Maybe I will play SMG2 this Yule.
>>739612448I associate Bloody Roar 2 with my cousin that passed back in 2015, his favorite character was Busuzima. He lived in Buffalo NY and was shot by some retard because he thought he was in a rival gang due to the color of his shirt. So now every time I think of the game I think of him and the times we played it as kids. I miss that nigga so much anons
>>739613162>>739613245>>739615865For me, I had gotten Kingdom Hearts 1 for Christmas and we had a ton of extra ham leftover from the dinner party. Nobody else in the house wanted it so I just played KH1 nonstop for a week while eating nothing but that leftover Christmas ham. Now I associate KH1 with dinner ham. Also, my sister with with me the whole time watching along.
>>739616085RIP to your cousin anon, always cherish the memories and have fun with the rest of your friends and family while you still can
