Past that, game design conventions have become standardized enough that anyone who isn't overtly concerned about muh graphics or muh QOL features can get into any reasonably well-made game. Most of the screeching by zoomies about older games is down to their graphics and games being too slow for their tastes but those aren't legitimate criticisms.

One of the biggest differences was the chapter where Raidou takes the curse away from someone heavily implied to be the emperor or someone else highly significant, but they made that guy some god associated with the Yatagarasu that won't even die from the curse but needs to be healed anyways. Also some stuff mentioning the 2020 pandemic instead of the apocalypse in SMT1, but other mentions of Tokyo Millenium are still made by other NPCs so it really doesn't matter. Overall worth it to pick up on sale, especially compared to the janky mechanics original. Lots of QOL and voice acting isn't too shabby (just play in Japanese)
