I am in no hurry to play this Bubsy game. I think it looks more 'handheld' tier than home computer or console tier. I am someone who played the original Bubsy on the SNES back in 1993 when I was 12 years old. I remeber playing the Genesis version when it was new as well. I oddly liked the original Bubsy when I was a kid. I liked the original art, and character. The game was s'OK" as far as platformers go. More like a C+ tier platformer. Replaying the original Bubsy, I am more set back by how rigid the game is. Fall damage. Instant deaths. Bubsy's oddly super precise platforming movement and physics. World is trying to be cartoony. But has an identity crisis. Bubsy II plays better. But the stages are just large maze-like "what the fuck am I doing stages". Bubsy 3D is a science experiment mid 90's 3D platforming. A game that was outdated by Mario 64 upon release. I did even play that mobile 2D revival game... that was kind of bland. But not terrible. It played like a modern platformer. But had nothing that really stood out. Never played the Jaguar game... never seen a Jaguar console in person. Bubsy 4D... it looks like it is made by people who do understand how to make a 3D platformer. It has callbacks to the obscure TV pilot. It plays hard on breaking the forth wall and making Bubsy self aware of his failures. The game world still seems to not have anything that stands out. I will eventually play it.

A few changes like less one hit kills and no fall damage, yarn balls giving you an extra life at 100 or 200 instead of fucking 500, and it could be a solid game. There's an improvement hack that does that, still need to try it. 2 and 3 sucked, never played the 2D reboot ones or the Jaguar game. But 4 is genuinely good.
