I've gotta be honest, I'm too old to care at this point.
In the past I might have opened up the control panel to try and cope in some dogshit port with no in-game settings but now I don't care.
I wanted to play Pirate Warriors 3 which is a fucking atrocious port from 2015 with zero options at all and framerate and resolution caps but I don't care, I just told Lossless Scaling to fix it and it does good enough and I didn't waste any time at all tinkering around with shit.
It's not perfect but it's easy.

This made me instantly ask myself where to set how aspect ratios are handled in fullscreen games to not have stuff like old rpgmaker games stretched from 4:3 to 16:9 but still stretch the whole screen but it is right here.
Now I just need to localize the place to throttle max fps to not have ancient games like Leaves The Journey run at over 9001 fps and melting my PC and I am all set. No real need for the ancient thingy anymore.

Okay the newer app finds less things automatically but adding individual games is easier since it doesn't lock up your whole PC for seconds while loading a list of EVERY GAME AND APPLICATION YOU EVER USED IN THE HISTORY OF YOUR PC. No fancy logo for those but that's alright.
I got no further use of the old software. What do you need it for? Looking at the pixelated animation of the Nvidia logo rotating in 3D over a sky background?

>>739633836

Does Nvidia let you customize the scalers? I've never bothered using it for scaling.
What's the default? FSR? Bilinear?
I've been using Magpie for a while and it just works for whatever I've needed, so I consider it a useful tool.

Genuinely, because real programmers can't into frontends, so they twist things backwards so webdevs can do it instead, but webdevs only know how to make shitty websites with pre-made frameworks, so we end up in a continual cycle of every fucking interface feeling like a shitty mobile website.
>>739628532
Fucking hate le modern interfaces, I never feel like I'm in any control of anything unless it's explicitly clear the interface at minimum was made when I was single digit aged old. All the modern shit always has that veneer of "Nuh uh, we only ALLOW you to change these things, get fucked if you want to do anything outside of this as we've baby-proofed everything." while old shit will go "Oh, you want to do this bullshit that makes no sense outside of a hyper-niche use-case we would have never in a million years thought to explicitly support? Go ahead, not our fault if you break shit."
I will always consider software that does actually important hardware shit a million times more trustworthy / reliable if it looks like it's straight from Windows 95.

Same reason why I hate fucking android / iOS / everything apple, exactly the same shit except baked into the deepest recesses of the OS.

Nvidia app is an objective improvement over the Nvidia Control Panel. The control panel is an MMC snap-in which is horrendously crashy/slow/resource intensive since it is essentially a live database view of the driver config (being an MMC snap-in). So the same shit as Event Viewer. Basically everything is ported over to the Nvidia App except legacy settings and if you have need of those you can just use the nvinspector. This is a good thing.
There are 99 other things you can bitch about with Jewvidia but their new app vs control panel isn't one.
>inb4 sign-in hurr
Nope.avi, you don't need to sign in. I have never signed into mine.
>>
>>739634806
>That's not really the worst issue with this driver, there are apparently multiple reports of it completely fucking up Vsync and making frame pacing horrible when using it.
There are no such reports. The application has nothing to do with v-sync unless you have gone into the app (which is identical to control panel but not an archaic mmc thus faster) and set a non-standard application override for vsync (it is handled by your game by default).
Not that you should be using vsync in 2026.
