The insta-nuke combos it enables destroys the complexity of the game, and it being how you destroy heated up legions makes it a glorified Glory Kill but without the fun of getting close ergo no positioning

Instead in Eternal they pushed farther away and added "story" and some sort of weird fisher price demon infestation aesthetic, totally not what I wanted. I played all Doom games and I liked them to certain degree. Loved 2016 but Eternal? Terrible with even worse dlcs. When I saw TDA being ping pong with shield I gaved up on this series.
I don't get the hate on the platforming in Eternal the original Doom games also had light platforming elements.They're really short
