Do you have a fav controller?
>>
I'm waiting for a Switch 2 Pro controller with a nice color.
>>
>>739662041
dualsense. i just wish the battery wasn't such garbage.
>>
>>739662156
Its out already, get the pikachu gengar one
>>
>>739662041
never understood the love for the switch pro controller. was it just the contrast between the poor quality of the joycons that made people like it?
>>
>>739662041
Wiimote+nunchuck is kind of good. Not enough to be a lightgun.

I haven't tried VR. But VR should be gloves and socks.
>>
>>739662620
like they arent awful controllers or anything just perfectly average.
>>
>>739662041
Yeah, SNES or PS2.

dualsense edge by technicality, but I don't recommend it
on paper it'd probably be either steam controller, flydigi vader 5 pro, or 8bitdo ultimate 2

When I was an ignorant pleb I would have said the DualSense, but I just recently had to throw it out after the stick drift started getting ridiculous. I'm now wedded to pic related.
>>
>>739662620
I like the pro controllers for the same reason I like the wii u pro controllers. No deficiencies (switch pro controller has awful dpad though), every feature included, ruggedness to keep working after poor treatment, 2 hours of charging gives 40+ hours of play.
>>
>>739662041
Steam Deck, my rog ally is stronger but ergonomics aren’t as good plus it only has two back buttons where eck had four
>>
Bought a Ds4 13 years ago for muh pc, expecting it to work for a long time. It works.
>>
>>739662873
to me these are just baseline requirements a controller shoukd have, far from the qualities that would make a controller my favorite.

Get one of those ExtremeRate shells if you're comfortable with the idea of doing a shell swap.
>>
>>739662529
Battery life, d pad and drift holds this thing back immensely. If they foxed those issues it'd probably be the perfect controller

Watch out on those solid color buttons, they're so brittle they're guaranteed to crack. Find some Super Famicom controllers on eBay and harvest their buttons if you're not bothered by the thought of losing the magnetic button feature.

Steam deck / controller. Literally no game that can't handle, besides maybe Mario teaches typing

Dualsense by a mile. All of the little features that seem like gimmicks actually enhance the experience a lot when you’re playing a game that’s designed for it, like Astro Bot. I’ve been using mine since PS5 launch, and it still looks and works like new.
GameCube controller was good for its time.

>>739662620
Contrast with the quality of Joy Cons, plus way more comfortable for adult-sized hands. It’s the best way to play the switch, but far from the best controller.

Go with God, the Switch 2 Pro is a bitch to work with if you're unfamiliar with electronics. Nintendo was mortified of anybody getting inside them, for some reason.
>>

are hori game pad controllers any good?

My xbox360 controller. I must have at least six thousand hours of gameplay on it. She was with me during my drug addiction period, and the recovery, and the boredom that followed.
Still works.
>>
>>739662620
>was it just the contrast between the poor quality of the joycons that made people like it?
Yes. Tendies touched a normal-ass controller for the first time since the gamecube and thought it was a revelation.

Not really. I use them until they stop working then get a new one. I'm using pic rel right now, it's nice.
>>
>>739664142
I can appreciate that as a sentimental bit, and already bought, but Xbox controllers are the worst option these days. No gyro
>>
You guys actually throw out controllers when they begin to drift? You don't buy TMR replacement sticks and take the time to repair said controller? That's wasteful as fuck.

TMR sticks should obviously be standard but since corpos gonna corpo, when your sticks start to drift you should buy TMR replacements and take the 10 minutes to read a guide on stick replacement so you can fix your shit yourself.

"Clear Black" is the closest color-match for the Anniversary's sticks, but I'd buy these anyways just because it's an upgrade to Dualsense Edge swappable sticks. I did the same with my own controller, I like the extra little bit of PS1 authenticity from the rounded toppers.
>>
>>739663468
Man, it's too heavy. no controller should weight around 280g.
>>
>>739662041
That exact one actually
the colors are really nice
>>
>>739663343
that's why the edge is my >>739662726 favorite by technicality
but it's absurdly overpriced even before considering TMR modules aren't stock and the battery is laughably awful
touchpad + accurate gyro + remappable extra buttons + (potential) TMR sticks is still unfortunately exclusive to steam controller or dualsense edge in the current market
even if you don't care about touchpads it's very rare to have accurate gyro + remappable extra buttons on the same input mode with third parties
>>
>>739662620
I don't understand why people wouldn't like it. It's perfectly fine. Comfortable, good size and weight, and has absurd battery life. Could go fucking forever without needing a recharge. Meanwhile I play my PS4 and I might as well just have a wired controller.
>>
>>739664258
Nintendofag here
That controller looks awesome
>>
>>739662529
>>739663125
I think the dualsense is shit, BUT
the built-in mic can be extremely useful at times, and what it also has over the previous controllers is that it's ridiculously sturdy/more gamer-rage proof.

>>
>>739664395
I actually wish the dualsense weighed more. Stick an extra battery cell in there to get the weight up.
>>
The Xbox 360 had my favorite controller, but I haven't seen a real one in years. I think DS4 is peak controller design
>>
>>739664258
I'm still extremely pissed that they didn't sell the Edge variant of the Anniversary Edition except 50 units direct from the PSN store. The DS Edge is legitimately the best version of the controller I've found and I would have paid a little extra for Anniversary Edition colorways, but no they fucked off entirely.
>>
does every controller work on windows without needing to install any software like the xbox controller? I want to replace this piece of shit controller already but after logitech g hub I'm traumatized of these kind of programs
>>
>>739666787
Everything except the Steam Controller, ironically
>>
>>739663125
Never had an issue with drift.
3 controllers.
Is drift really an issue and I just got lucky?
>>
>>739664561
I've felt that way with 8Bitdo for a full decade and Gulikit from 2022-2023. Gamesir didn't have traction until more recently despite being equally old so I'd like to think it's word of mouth leading into saarposting, but if they're sponsoring EVO champs nowadays they're probably paying shills too.
I can at least vouch for Cyclone 2 as my most-used controller the past two years, but between only two back buttons and no option to have both gyro and kbm-remapped back buttons at the same time, I haven't bothered with any new releases since. It's still the most feature-complete third party brand when disregarding Steam Input, but I'd imagine controllers supported by it directly (8Bitdo) or via workarounds (Flydigi) are better depending on use case.
>>
>>739666787
Except the Steam Controller (which now works without Steam), The short answer is no, unless its some chinkware that's emulating an Xbox(360/One) gamepad which means stuff like gyro and other features won't work. Almost nobody else makes proper drivers for PC. However
>Steam
basically has developed the most comprehensive drivers for everything both native supported and manual configuration. Go look at the controller config in Steam sometime and what SteamInput settings can do

>>739666843
This isn't the case. Steam Controller is natively supported via SDL3, with all of its features (including those that go beyond XInput).
>>
>>739666573
DS4 was kind of unreliable, but it was up against the Joy Con, which makes Mad Catz look good in comparison.

Yep, I completely wrote GameSir off because of the terrible brand name. I only ended up buying a Cyclone 2 because I tried to get an 8BitDo Ultimate 2 two times and both had a flaw with the left analogue stick.
>>
>>739666868
No, it's a vocal minority of mongoloids that don't know how to properly use or care for their controllers.
There would absolutely be a massive recall if it was a significant problem
>>
>>739663026
well, I like the ps3 dualshock, but the shoulder buttons were flimsy and battery life is about half of the pro controller. also it's gyro is not even close to the standard the switch pro controller is
>>
>>739662041
I feel that gamecube controller was onto something with the face buttons and left joystick/dpad design. Would need feature improvements to be great though

Might go for an Apex 5 or Vader 5 v2 if they release a cool special edition.
>>
Just using a basic bitch XBONE controller as I don't use controllers much at all. Still have a wired X360 and a Switch Pro as backups though, alongside a bunch of family owned ps4 controllers, but I fucking hate the dualshock layout so much these days I really don't want to resort to that unless I'm actually playing a Playstation game via Emulator.
The switch pro, at least on W7 was an absolute cunt to use and needed some jank programs from github to even use with xinput, plus input name swappers to match the tendy layout.
>>
>>739667293
I've had mine for first years and used it extensively in that time with zero drift. What did you do to yours?
>>
>>739662529
I prefer the Dualshock 4, the Dualsense has mushy buttons, but they're both held back by being overpriced and the inevitability of stick drift
Anyway for me it's the Gamesir Nova Lite 2. Everything is just right and it's cheap. The d-pad is incredibly good, control feels precise in all eight directions with no mispresses and it has practically no travel. Plus it has hall effect sticks and triggers
