The Gears combat and formula is too stale to carry a pure single player experience in 2026/2027. I said it. The cover shooter aspect is super dated with the mechanics they've tried to put in and with this being going back to basics realistically they won't add in new interesting mechanics.

Gears 4 campaign is the second worst in the series. 5 started much better before collapsing half way with the open world crap and abysmal story. I have very little hope for E-Day if it's the same developer.

The funny thing is that JD's arc in 5 is actually pretty good. He was starting to become interesting. But we don't get to fully experience it because he's replaced by Kait early on, and you just know the devs want to make his death the canon choice.
