Presentation in Obra Dinn was much better. The way it was made allowed for much more details and the like as well as more ways to throw you off. Soundtrack and voice acting was also top notch in Obra Dinn.

The story in Case of the golden idol was better. Obra Dinn's ending and reward for trying to care about these characters was utterly disappointing. But as >>739684552 this anon said OD had much better presentation and felt truly unique. It hurt my eyes at times but figuring out who each of the chink topmen was is still one of my fondest memories in videogames. Or the painting scene.
Really interesting game overall even if the premise ironically falls flat. (You're a guy or woman meant to accurately assess property damage, find who did what, but you can technically lie out of your ass and your worldviews affect your judgement. You can even blame it all on the captain and it would still be correct)

One other point I'll give for Golden Idol (at least the first game) is how smooth and fast the interface is. Obra Dinn was more immersive but moving around the ship felt like a chore sometimes
