Not very, she's a horrible leader that broke down at the absolute worst time and barricaded herself away as her kingdom needed her most. Which is pretty consistent with the rest of the womenfolk in the game. If anything, it makes me think none of the women should've had any amount of power.

If you are counting prime Renalla then then the Primeval sorcerers should be counted as well.

They aren’t dead. They’re one step above the Crystalians, who are similarly of a “faint cogitation”, implying they meditate, or just vibe, more than they speak. They’re too enlightened to care. Azur is levitating in meditation the same way the Crystalians are in their crystal groves. Both Azur and Lusat have the same third eye medallion hanging on their headgear to denote their awakened minds or status. Lusat’s third eye became his brain. They’re not even subtle about it. Oh. And their artwork also has them standing upright. They aren’t frozen statues. That’s kind of like arguing that the Crystalians can’t actually move. Of course they can. You fight them. Azur and Lusat are just beyond even that, and you can’t even DO anything to them, similar to how you have to break through into Crystalians. Except you can’t break into these two.

But since most ER fans lack lore literacy they think “bro they’re dead bro”.

Elden Ring is an open world game, so it really just depends on your level which boss is the hardest in early game. Obviously, Margit is THE WALL on purpose to force you to explore (I spent 4 hours fighting the horse dude anyway). Godrick aint that bad tho.

An open world game with soft barriers in the various regions having level and upgrade levels you're expected to generally be at by the time you get to them, with other zones being strictly gated off with the various big elevators or in the case of Farum Azula only being accessible in one of 2 ways, one of which you can't get to without using said elevator. It's a surprisingly restrictive open world if you want to actually just explore shit.

>>
>>739686164
You can explore but there's definitely an order the game pushes you into by curb stomping you until you realize you should do something else. But once you pass the storm wall, RL is right there in your face and so it would be silly not to go there next. In comparison it's much easier than SVC in terms of mobs and the boss fight.

Considering that every male ruler (even Godrick out of all people) all tried to actually help the people around them, even if they were misguided in doing so or they stumbled while doing so, they were all better rulers than any of the women in the game which all (even fucking Marika) all failed at their jobs thanks to hubris and/or ego which were then only saved by some literal who tarnished that either unfucked their mistakes or went all in on them.

Count Ymir taught magic to the Carian so he's above them. Metyr is the strongest.
>>
>>739689024
Ymir’s apprentices surpassed him.

1. He’s a lousy mini boss just like Gideon (this also confirms Gideon is under Rennala and Rellana).
2. His best spell costs significantly less intelligence than the moons.
3. He copes about the moon being just some close celestial body when it’s still more intelligent than his spells. Or the stars.

His character is basically proof that the moon is superior to deep space. It’s gay and retarded but Miyazaki loves feminism and Wiccan moon themed female empowerment crap or something.

It’s bait. The entire game is massively woke/feminist, but people ignored it because it was le unpopular to hate on based FromSlop. The Japs have a pass when they do it, you see.

Malenia is the stereotypical red headed lesbian feminist who btfo the strongest male. A feminine tree displaced the masculine sun. The feminine moon/emotion is smarter and more important than the masculine stars/science.

Just how blind are people to this game? Even the female enemies are stronger than the male variants.
>>
>>739688981
True, he was a massive asshole but his obsession with power was because he wanted to be like daddy dearest and lead a powerful and healthy kingdom he went about it the entirely wrong way and was too much of a pussy to actually do what was needed of him to gain said power so he took shortcuts and acted like a coward all the way to the end.

Still better than having a suicidal bitch of a queen that mindbreaks so hard that she lets her entire kingdom literally fall apart around her when she had the power to actually save her kingdom.

The sun is masculine in Miyazaki’s mind. See Gwyn. The moon is feminine and emasculating. See Gwyndolin and Seath.

Oh, and the Witch of Izalith was clearly more powerful than Seath. In fact in the original version of Dark Souls, only girls would get full access to spells. They cut that out, but partially brought it back in Dark Souls 3, where you need a woman to unlock magic for you.

>>739689903
Why do you keep using the “it’s a female moment game ackchyually” as though this means women aren’t the more influential of the two? They start civilizations as much as they end them.

In the world of Elden Ring, it takes a woman to birth a new age and era. Not a man. They’re secondary. Sidekicks.
>>
>>739689915
He is the easiest and weakest mini boss in the game. Even his other student Miriam is 10x more difficult and annoying to face.

Why do people think people like Sellen and Ymir or Gideon are superiors to Rennala or Rellana when they don’t even have true boss models? Rennala and Rellana actually have unique boss models.
>>
>>739689543
>Huh? Trees are masculine and suns are feminine
What are you smoking? The sun has never been feminine. It's always been the moon that is seen as feminine in every single culture across the earth. I will give you a hint as to why, it's the phrase, "It's that time of the month." Trees are also considered feminine, because trees are associated with bearing fruit.
>>
>>739689545
No he isn’t. Again, he is a lousy mini boss and he doesn’t even use the moon in his fight. This implies he never made it to 70 intelligence. He has comet Azur tho. It’s canon that no (confirmed) male (other than the player - and this is with help) has seen the moon, and as such no male has reached 70 intelligence. Only women have.
>>
>>739690105
In-game difficulty doesn’t compare to lore power. Mohg is weaker than 90% of SOTE bosses but in lore, he could beat most of them. He’d only lose to Metyr, Messmer, and Radahn. Yes he’d beat Bayle.

According to the DLC, there were already a thriving civilization that tortured Marikas people for... Shits, giggles and magic I guess? She was the one who supposedly brought the ayy lmaos to the lands between and killed that entire civilization just to be cursed by said civilization into never having normal kids. This seemingly slowly drives her to madness as she uses almost every male character in the lore in order to actually get her kingdom going, without Godfrey or her (supposedly) firstborn son Messmer she would have never succeed at doing any of it.

If the the feminist message in the game is "For a woman to succeed, it takes her womb and better men" then congrats, this is the most feminist game on the market currently.
>>
>>739690239
I just looked it up and apparently the moon is half and half across the globe. This means women merely pretend that the moon is feminine/womanly. They keep hijacking our shit. Thoth-megistus (the biggest god of magic in the west, or indeed ever, if you consider its influence on western esoteric thought and the impact it had on white man’s scientific ascension) is the god of the moon and stars. The god of the moon in Japan is male. The moon god in Norse (which is a feminine mythos) is a dude.

Men were the ones who used the moon and the sun and the stars as guides to measure and understand the heavens. The sky is masculine, the earth is feminine - and even then the earth and all its resources and materials are seen as manly and masculine once industry and infrastructure is involved. This is why men like insects so much, because they see females being infrastructural in the micro world where females are larger and more aggressive and more impressive.
>>
Plants are womanly now? Did we just forget the Green Man?
>>
>>739690239
The moon is feminine but so is the sun
Trees are masculine
the sea is masculine too btw. As are mountains
>>
>>739690545
Messmer is her confirmed child btw, he even has a statue of her with baby him in his palace

There's a fun theory that the Tarnished is one of the discarded sons/daughters of Marika sent to those walking mausoleums, which explains the intro noises + your ability to kill demigods/gods + Marika guiding you with Grace since the very beginning to put an end to her misery
>>

>he doesn’t even use the moon in his fight. This implies he never made it to 70 intelligence.
He completely denounced the moon so he’d have no interest in it.
Unrelated but in Elden Ring, all the actual strongest sorcerers are Int/Fth except for Ranni. Radagon/Marika and Miquella are the most prominent figures in the game for a reason. Rellana is int/fth can she can cast two moons, making her stronger than Rennala because more moons = more power unless you’re Ranni who can just one shot you I guess (Ranni is a girlboss character)

>>739690753
>He completely denounced the moon so he’d have no interest in it.
I was talking about Gideon there, not Ymir, although I doubt Ymir has reached 70 INT. Rennala and her sister saw the twin moons as children, implying they were geniuses as kids. They had 70 INT as little girls.

>walking mausoleums, which explains the intro noises + your ability to kill demigods/gods + Marika guiding you with Grace since the very beginning to put an end to her misery
You are, explicitly, a member of Godfrey's clan. He and his descendants were sent across the fog (to the mortal world) where you fought and died, whereupon you would return to the lands between. The Tarnished is a descendant of Godfrey
>>
>>739690903

Judging by her size and weird skeleton (Ranni's body also looks off) we can assume they're descended from Giants or Alabaster/Onyx Lords (would explain the Radahn connection)

The real answer is: Miyazaki is a hack

>>739691939
yes, but like i said, the timeline is a mess, because Miquella and Malenia are the last confirmed children to be born, after Radagon becomes the second husband of Marika, but the point is that he was already born before that, because Radhan is youngfer than him.
>>
>>739691724
Really? Wasn't she supposed to have created Radagon during her stint with Rennala? Messemer has supposedly been abandoned in the shadow lands for decades if not a few hundred years already by that point so it makes no sense.
>>
>>739691736
>What I'm talking about is that she brings them into the surrounding island/continent and that they were stuck in the shadowlands before that.
The Shadowlands where a part of the continent before her ascension. The Elden Ring, which was sent to the Lands Between by the Grater Will, was the same font of power the Hornsent worshipped, they just loved the crucible. Marika hated them specifically and branded them as cursed as soon as she took power as a giant Fuck You for persecuting her people
>>

All sorcerers are staring at the stars. All sorcerers are astrologers/astronomers. Ancient astrologers are not modern day astrologers. Rennala was NOT an ancient astrologer. Azur is a surviving ancient astrologer. His spell is on the ancestral relic sword of the Carians. He is possibly their ancestor. Lusat might also be a surviving ancient astrologer, if we consider his status as a founding glintstone sorcerer, or his life possibly predating the founding of Sellia (as Sellia is on top of the Eternal, and his staff is guarded by the Nox, it’s possible his home was originally with the Eternal). The original, nameless ancient astrologer was implied to have been a giant. The original name the Founding Rain of Stars was Goliath’s Rain of Stars. The giants were peers to the ancient astrologers and use a mixture of fire and blue magic.

Weird how I have to explain this to people.

Ooooh, now I get it. He was always Marikas alter-ego but none of the characters in the game pre-dlc ever got to see him until Marika wanted it to happen or until her mental state was fractured enough to actually give him control.

I remember reading some lore speculation around that Marika and Radagon were supposedly two different people that were "fused" during some sort of Crucible experiment that the old civilization used on them for some reason but that Marika ended up as the dominant personality which means that she has been a magical schizo from the very start of the lore.
>>
Messmer and Melina were both rebirthed by Marika as her own children.

She slew the great serpent and birthed it as Messmer. She defeated the Gloam-eyed queen and birthed her as Melina.

How do people not fucking realize this? Marika turns her enemies into her own allies/children. She incorporates the old beliefs as her own. Sort of like Christianity.
>>
>>739692467
> I remember reading some lore speculation around that Marika and Radagon were supposedly two different people that were "fused" during some sort of Crucible experiment
Considering that Miquella could discard St. Trina, it’s certainly possible that Marika and Radagon could fuse and separate and fuse again.

The idea that Lord and God are meant to unite/fuse (haha sex get it??) like the old alchemical concept of the Rebis makes a little bit of sense. Consider that Placidusax is supposed to have four heads but has five head stumps. His talisman depicts him with four heads. Not five. Perhaps he was fused with his God.

Messmer makes no sense in the timeline. We know he's the eldest son / first born.

We know Godfrey and the Golden Lineage predates Radagon / Renalla

We know Miquella and Melania come after Radhan, Ranni, Rykard

Basically, Marika + Radagon = Messmer (and Melina) has to predate the Godfrey War that spread the Golden Order throughout the lands between, but also had to come after Marika's ascension. How Radagon existed at this point (because it's before the war against the giants, which is when Godfrey's campaign began) is completely unclear. It causes enough turblence in the timeline that it ventures into "this just isn't canon" or "a severe retcon" or something. Messmer had great vibes but he makes very little sense in the larger narrative
>>
>>739692743
Reincarnation is a big theme of this world. Marika simply hijacked it and tried to monopolize or coordinate it. Whether it was because she was power hungry or because she hated the nature of things, or perhaps both, I don’t know.

She was likely still in the trees memory bank. Her sole purpose was to be a sacrifice. A contingency. Marika never loved her. She never loved Messmer either.

I remember thinking the Eternal made an artificial lord, or a golden tear, which then betrayed them and started her own thing. Marika was that creation. Similar to the false divine child in Sekiro turning on her own creators for sacrificing so many.

The betrayal of a culture after it made an artificial god still occurred, but, it was an entirely different culture altogether. Lol.

Yeah he clearly originally envisioned her to be from the Eternal, not the Hornsent. Marika the ETERNAL. Their sacred twin blade was also originally meant to belong to Miquella and Malenia. But they changed it to be a Hornswnt weapon, as it never got put into the base game.

I think she was a woman of high standards. Not necessarily evil, just fed up and not satisfied with the brutality of life. She tried to make things better but she realized she couldn’t, and her golden age, or attempt at eternal prosperity, was doomed from the very start. You see her coming to this realization over time, as you look at how she changes her posture (her various statues) over time, and how she tried to understand things better, by incorporating logic/intelligence into her faith, which eventually reverted right back into faithful zealotry.

> The stargazer amulet literally describes her journey to become Queen of caria
It calls her an astrologer. She and her sister were children when she was tutored by the Carian Royal instructor. Ymir was most definitely not an ancient astrologer.

The ruins in the mountains point to older Nox and Carian heritage that predates her. She isn’t the first Carian queen. She established it to the academy.

Sorcerous heretics are shunted away to the mountaintops. Be they bloodthorn sorcerers or primeval adherents. But we see that sorcerers (like the Hierodas) make pilgrimages. The stars move. She followed the stars. Whether she saw her moon at the mountaintop, or at the moonlit altar, I don’t know. It’s possible Rennala took Ranni somewhere else to find hers. Rennala and Rellana as kids probably weren’t at the mountaintops when they saw their twin moons. The moon gazing grounds at the Carian manor implies other people could see the moon, there.

They were shoving Numen into jars to try and making something bigger and grander, anon. The entire project of the Hornsent was to make an artificial god by way of the divine gate. Their jar experiments went on to become the divine gate. You see this. Marika is also said to be related to the Numen of the Eternal. The implications are pointing to something artificial.

It’s called playing the game, you dummy. Most ER fans don’t have lore literacy and can’t do nuance. Numerous items point to Carian royalty predating Rennala, and yet people take her remembrance as literal. Doesn’t matter. She stepped into the gate. It’s possible they shoved her into a jar before that point.

The false divine child in Sekiro wasn’t literally born in an artificial way either. She was just artificially made to be divine. After countless attempts (killing countless kids). I wonder how many shaman the Hornsent killed.
>>
>>739694039
What people often miss is that Numen are just… people with high runic power. You’ll notice that runes progress all the way up to Numen. This is why they are seldom born. It’s not often that you see a baby born with high runes.

>>
>>739694039
also they don't die when they're melded with other flesh. the process concentrates the gold in every living thing culminating in a mass sacrifice that released a lot of runes at once positioned perfectly with the upward crucible current where the barrier between earth and heaven was weakest. it's weirdly scientific the way it's presented.
>>
>>739694262
>I wonder how many shaman the Hornsent killed.
Judging by the massive amount of jars that can be found both in the original game but specifically in the shadow lands I would probably say in the houndreds of thousands over hundreds years of trial and error. For all we know Marika was among the last of the Numen before they were literally made extinct by the hornsents massive genocide.

If Marika hadn't become a god then the hornsent might have not been able to continue as the only Numan village that still stood is small as fuck.

Silver tears -> 1st gen albinaurics -> 2nd gen albinaurics

Silver tears can interbreed with humans so this makes sense; the Sellians were once nightfolk who bled silver before it went away

> Why exactly does Fromsoft rush so much stuff
This is frequently their biggest criticism. Bloodborne is a borderline unfinished game despite how amazing it is. Imagine what it could have been. They fucked up Byrgenwerth (they weren’t on the same page and the exterior was designed a lot smaller than the interior - which they swept under the rug, renaming it to the ‘lecture building’), and there was no actual casting system implemented in the game. Just more proof that Miyazaki hates casters.

Willem was originally meant to be a boss too. Would have summoned eyeballs that shot meteors at you.

>>739706307
You can find Willem’s rocking chair in the Lecture Building too. The slime scholars are wearing Byrgenwerth uniforms. They probably decided that the actual Byrgenwerth was meant to be some sort of private estate, while the actual institution was spread around Yharnam at separate lecture buildings.

The original entrance to the Labyrinth was originally meant to be under Byrgenwerth as well. I feel like the chalices really devalued the discovery and exploration aspect of the Labyrinth. I’d rather find it. The chalices are just another piece of evidence that they didn’t have enough time.

“When a man is shooting a handgun, it’s just like he is shooting because that’s his job, and he has no other choice. It’s no good. When a girl is shooting a handgun, it’s really something.”

Lmfao. He literally worships women simply because they are. A man picks up a sword and it's 'boring'. A woman does it and he worships the ground she walks on.
And you can see this reflected in all his works too.

Sounds a lot more like he's praising specific soectacular women as opposed to just women as a concept. Even what you just quoted is the exact inverse of the woke western idea that you should expect any woman to be just as capable as a man. It's specifically because the average woman isn't noteworthy that it becomes remarkable when a special dame pops up.
>>
What’s funny is that the moon is superficially feminine, but methodically masculine. Dominant. It would have you remain human. The moon reflects starlight.

The stars in contrast expect you to take it in the face. The crystallized jizz of the Greater Will. It would have you be submissive to the forces of the cosmos. To no longer be human.

Academia may be dominated by men, but it’s surely a feminine field where wizards seek to cover themselves is cosmic semen. A dominant woman put a stop to that submissive crap.

You could still argue that she’s a pussy for not embracing transhumanism, though. Azur and Lusat could be so far beyond her. We just don’t know.

This is why I think the moon takes up more intelligence than the primeval. The moon was missed for the stars because by the time most sorcerers are smart enough to glimpse their own moon, it’s already too late; they’ve become absorbed by the stars.

They probably just lived near the Giants and may have fraternized with them.
Rennala is probably descended from the Nox, given the presence of two important elevators connecting Caria to the Nox cities underground and the Nox inventing the silver golems that Caria used in the form of Albinaruics.

It honestly wouldn't be surprising if there was historical revisionism in the lands between.

The snakeskin is probably from Messmer, a hint about him that you'd see if you explored a bit and took the side path instead of the main gate.
It could even imply that he started his invasion of the Shadow Realm before he was an adult. When he was still growing.

The devs originally planned for a cataclysm system of sorts and various maps have old data where you'd terrain change with events.

>>
>>739695032
I think the Nox and their silver tears developed into the albinaurics but not directly like that.
I think the Nox originally made the silver tears as a way to bulk out their declining population and stuff. Because they're basically human and autonomous and one would have even potentially been an Elden Lord, if they could make a God.
But the Albinaurics seem to have been a slave race from the start.
>>
>>739717750
>It could even imply that he started his invasion of the Shadow Realm before he was an adult.
Highly doubt it, the only thing we know about Messmers upbringing is that he and Radhan was trained by Commander Gaius, and he is heavily implied to have been a huge part of the war of giants. After that he was probably was ordered by Marika to finish the genocide on the hornsent.

Radagon isn't Messmer's dad. He's mentioned as being "like a brother" to Radahn (on the same level as Gaius), while Miquella is specifically named as Radahn's brother. Messmer and Radahn don't share parents.

Given the spears sticking out of the giants and the fact that Marika was with Godfrey during the mountaintops' genocide, Radagon probably didn't even exist until Godfrey was banished and would then be younger than Melina/Messmer and Morgott/Mohg/Godwyn. He seems to think the existence of his red hair is the curse of the Fire Giants, anyway, again suggesting his creation was also influenced by revenge against Marika's genocidal tantrums like the omen.

>b-but then who is Messmer's/Melina's dad
The fell god, most likely. Explains their vision of fire and, in Melina's case, specifically the giants' forge destroying the Erdtree. Marika probably created then specifically to destroy her own order as a contingency plan against the fingers, the same way she organized demigod-slayers like the Tarnished and the Black Knives.

GEQ is Marika, btw.
>called Queen in Black in old descriptions
>Stone Coffin Fissure has map data connected to her, and was initially planned to be in the base game as the area the Nox traveled from to build their cities
>Nox were explicitly Marika's family in the old story drafts, and are still referenced as her ancestors in the final game by Rogier, with the Black Knives as the bridge connecting them
>Marika enslaved Hewg to forge a god-slaying weapon
>GEQ is associated with serpentine infants, between the swaddling cloth and her children wielding serpent-based, crucible-adjacent powers
>Marika cradles Messmer in her statue, and he bears the Abyssal Serpent in his body
>no father is known for either Messmer or the Godskins, and the Abductor Virgin depicts a similar scenario of a virgin birth that is secretly puppeteered by snakes
We know that shattering the ring, banishing the tarnished, having ties to the Black Knives, creating Melina, etc. were all part of Marika's 5D chess plan to remove the influence of the fingers/GW over the order (itself born out of the ancient Nox plot) and make a new order from the ashes. We also hear of references to the "old gods" and the other Hornsent empyreans that used the gate at the tower. GEQ is Marika before she had her free will seemingly stripped away by Maliketh, and she utilized his subsequent trust in her new, docile incarnation to plant the seeds to get rid of him once and for all.

Elden Ring does not have a story. It's just meaningless cryptic bullshit and lore dumps.
>>
>>739724105
I’m pretty sure the “old gods” are referring to those truly enormous corpses of titans, much larger than the fire giants, or the ancestors of them, occasionally seen dotting the earth of the base game. You see them in Caelid and the mountaintops. The ancient meteoric ore greatsword is a giant arrowhead. The ruined forge of “starfall past” is likely referring to them being the original astrologers who witnessed the founding rain of stars (named Goliath’s Rain of Stars in the 1.0), and this is seen with their forged golems using a mixture of fire magic and blue sorcery.
>>
>>739724526
She is harmless. Sellen pushed her aside and she can be found hiding behind the book shelves. It’s adorable.
>>
>>739724105
The Nox/Numen were mega retarded. They thought stuffing themselves into stone arks would save themselves from the coming calamity above. “Guys, guys, let’s just go to sleep and wake up once it’s over”. Some landed underground, started new cities. Some never woke up, died, and became sludge. Some never got buried, got out of their stone arks, then for fucking enslaved by the hornsent (the shaman village/prison) and blamed for what happened. Their entire culture is trying to mimic the past.

>>739722885
>The fell god, most likely. Explains their vision of fire
Not that anon but that is really interesting. There's a few catches, however: Radagon is not fiery which lends itself to the Fell God being the father of Messmer and Melina, but Godfrey and Marika produced Omen children without either having horns, and the Omen are explicitly said to be a curse and not a genetic thing. So Radagon could still be M and M's father. But I do think your scenario is cool, that the Fell God fathered the red haired children of Marika, and that Radagon was some other thing.

Food for thought: an early version of the game had it so Radagon was a Silver Tear, and vengeance against Marika for what she did to them. The Asimi quest was a big arrow pointing at this truth, but all of that was stripped away for whatever the hell the final game + dlc wants Radagon to be.
>>
>>739727219
Godfrey is probably powered by Crucible energy, given that he ate Red Bear hearts and got massive.
Which links up to Mohg and Morgott being Crucible 'touched'.
>>
Azur and Lusat ditched their staves and became the stuff of magic itself. Rennala in comparison is still human and needs a staff.
