Valve, PC players "best" company, just increased prices of the so called successful steam deck by 200-300 bucks

>1TB OLED $649 -> $949
>512GB OLED $549 -> $789

This is the largest price increase for any console in history. No other console company has fucked over customers this bad.
>>
That's how much I spent to upgrade my 6 year old PC. $1500 - $600 selling the old parts.
>>

Why can't console fagots just shut up and realize that those of us who use Steam aren't tied to them and that I don't need to go defending my choice?
I only use Steam because it's convenient and cheap, and I think the vast majority don't give a shit about their console and will keep playing on PC.
It's crazy how corpo can brainwash people and lead them to fight imaginary enemies

Yeah, that's why people who bought Concord can still play it...oh wait, actually, Sony deleted it right from the consoles, so now even if you have the CD, it's just a paperweight.

You literally cannot own a game. You can own the media the license comes on, but that license can just as easily be taken from you, unless you're talking about physical media from over a decade ago. The age of owning your games is over, and you'll be happy.

Genuinely if Valve, Nintendo, Sony, etc. don't want to be caught in the nexus of the next video game crash (it's happening, and it's happening soon), they need to get used to the idea of subsidizing the costs of their hardware and relying on software sales. It doesn't matter what the circumstances are, you CANNOT pitch prices like these to a generation poorer than almost every one that came before it and expect them to bite.

Valve does small production cycles for hardware so they're extremely exposed to price fluctuations. They don't have contracts for tens of millions of consoles and big stockpiles. They are just the first that have to adapt to the new prices.
This is a harbinger of what is to come for all gaming hardware. The PS6 price will filter all of South America.

Steam deck prices are inflated to make the machine look like a better deal
I don’t think Valve intentionally raised Deck prices just to make the Machine look better, but I do think the new pricing accidentally (or strategically) helps reposition the Machine as the main Steam gaming device rather than the premium alternative.
Part of me wonders if they also realised there was a risk of casual gamers or people new to PC gaming just buying the Deck instead of the Steam Machine because it was massively cheaper.
If the Deck OLED is suddenly pushing toward £800–900, the idea of spending a bit more for a full living-room SteamOS machine starts feeling much more reasonable.
At the old prices, the Deck and Steam Machine would’ve occupied completely different value brackets. A casual customer could justify a Deck as an impulse purchase, whereas the Machine would need to compete against PS5, Xbox and full gaming PCs.

Valve is one step ahead. As always.

Real consoles like my XHDs? Cause all the games I've got downloaded there, with their emulators, are mine. Pc gaming hardware is going to die in the next 5 years. The major hardware manufacturers like Nvidia and samsung dont want you to own hardware and they are pricing out 90% of the market. Even if you can afford it you aren't going to be given the option to buy games when the majority of consumers are streaming.

>>
>>739705689
Even with physical as of now you own less. A game I bought on steam 20 years ago I can still install and get fixes working if it doesn't function anymore no problem. 20 years from now, you go to load any of your physical media on your PS5 and you're not going to be able to get any of the patches, redownload any of the expansion / dlc for it you bought, nothing. It'll all be gone. You'll have a barely working day 1 version.

You don't need to trick people into accepting digital. Digital has obvious advantages - obvious to people with working brains.
And if you are really non-retarded you might even figure out that data on a CD isn't any different from data on an SSD.

No advantages, only convenience. People as a mass is retarded (no matter the period in history) hence why fell for it under the impression of convenience think it's bound to quality. Similar mistake as the "Economic success = good quality" logic you see on the ocassion.

>And if you are really non-retarded you might even figure out that data on a CD isn't any different from data on an SSD.
Completely different; I only own the SSD in your example.

Legally your physical games are just licenses and legally your console can be bricked. Sorry about that.

Sure I can:
https://www.kitguru.net/gaming/matthew-wilson/microsoft-remotely-bricks-leakers-xbox-one-console/
It's also factual reality that Nintendo's user agreement includes the power to brick your console which means that they have the ability do so whenever they feel like it.
>best selling system at release and almost 20 million units before a year btw
The Switch 1 only managed to sell 155 million units.

Yup so does Valve with their accounts, and GoG, EGS, Sony, Microsoft, ect. I already knew that, did you have a point?
>>
>>739723692
Sony already made changes for next gen, they're making a handheld based on optimization, efficiency, and affordability, they're gutting a lot of their studios down with a heavy focus on pushing A, and AA games. They plan to bring back a lot of their old IPs and heavy push for and help indies and smaller studios. They're going to be fine.

i am the person in this image, and i'm okay with this.
two years ago i spent 3000 dollars on a lenovo legion pro 7i laptop on which i am typing this post. last year i spent 1500 dollars getting myself and my two sisters and their families NS2s, I spent 1140 dollars this month getting a samsung TV and a shelf to put it and my games and consoles on, this week i spent 200 dollars on lego dimensions figures from ebay that are coming through the mail, and i will happily pay whatever price valve sets for the steam machine because it would look wonderful on my new TV.
yes, i live with my parents despite having a job that earns me 2600 dollars a month, with which i pay rent. and i am taking full advantage of my position.
>>
Sucks honestly. Valve should have just cut down on supply. It's already hard as fuck to get a deck regardless. Having less of them being made and sold but keeping the price would be a better option for consumers.
>>
>>739725146
Steam can't bring my PC.
>b-but they c-can deny you access to your games.
No they can't. I've kept proof of purchase and that's enough to justify legal piracy. My country has laws that protect consumers in those situations. As long as you own a copy of something you can download that same thing. It's mostly used for movies or books but applies to games too.

Valve is an even bigger piece of SHIT than Microsoft. Get fucked PC cucks. You are now paying the "SHILL TAX". Valve paid millions of dollars to Youtubers to shill their dead Stream Deck. Steam Deck bombed, so pay for that loss with higher prices.
>>
>>739729314
