No. If I play on console, it has to be an exclusive. I could multitask and play almost anything on my PC, plugged to a TV with a controller. Changing games how I want.

It's rough upgrading but it's still probably a lot better than it was years ago. Graphics have long hit the point of diminishing returns and decent hardware from within the last 6 years can run games well, the only problem lately has been optimization issues. Hardware power efficiency hasn't improved a lot in general but you don't really need to use the highest settings because the games still look good on low-medium settings and anything higher is in diminishing returns territory. My GPU from 2014 can run a LOT of games. Computers are easily customizable and you can use your PC as a console and play games on TV by connecting it to a computer and connecting a controller to it. The AI bubble will burst and that might bring a flood of second-hand hardware to the market on top of getting the hardware companies to cater more to gamers again.

I still like PC gaming. I plan on getting a new PC around 2030. Hopefully pricing will be better by then, but that's not why I'm waiting that long. I already have a PC and it's only 3-4 years old. So, I wanna get about 8 years out of it. Besides, I prefer getting a new PC during the middle of a console generation and I expect the PS6/Helix to launch by the end of 2027. I'll be grabbing the PS6 console then along with maybe a new display. My PS5 is currently using a 15 year old 1080p/60hz monitor. So, it'll be time for an upgrade there as well.

Your furslop isn't replacing any jobs. Real models that are even somewhat useful for any real usecase cost a lot more to run, and the ai corpos also need to pay back the cost of training and building and maintaining massive data centers. So far they've been subsidized by shareholders, but that money will stop flowing in soon. When that happens and everyone figures out that running a model with junior level skills costs almost as much as hiring a senior, everyone will drop AI and start hiring people instead.

Used to be freelancers got hired to do those for like 60-80 bucks (in cash to dodge taxes) in 1-2 days so if big AI model subscriptions get pricier than 15-20 dollars a month, its cheaper to just hire a freelancer again.

PC is the penultimate platform simply because it allows you to do everything. Work, entertainment, archieving etc. While being highly customizable. PC gaming is fucking amazing if you are into all sorts of genres and you're not just looking at AAA games exclusively. There's so many games releasing constantly that I'm literally playing a new game every couple of days, and I get 90% of them for free by pirating.

Meanwhile between PS4/PS5 over the last 13 years, there's maybe like 3-4 worthwhile games to play, and Switch 2 is also in a fucking dire state, although a bit better since it has only been out for a year.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:PlayStation_4-only_games

I genuinely do not understand how people can play on consoles. There's unironically NO GAMES. Are they all just completely fine with playing buying 1 game per year and then for the rest of the year they're either playing F2P live service games or not playing at all?

Top end is disgusting and obviously not worth it at all
However PC as a platform will always be better than consoles, that's for sure. A cheap laptop still has access to decades of games you just don't on modern consoles. A good half of indie commercial games are only released on PC and there's a lot more free ones. If you're not looking at the AA/AAA segment of games chances are you already have a machine that can do a lot. Also you can have basically any system you want and you're not tied to Microsoft, but even -if- you choose to stay on W11, you're enjoying a lot more freedom by a good margin than what I would call cuckboxes.
DIY is just fucking dead though. It's not just Gamers Nexus covering this or whatever. Prices are not going to go down to a point where people are interested in buying anything but low end bullshit again and only a few lunatics are going to put together $3k builds. Also the Steam machine is double dead, it's gonna be a royal disaster.

>The US is in an AI arms race with China,
Chinese models aren't any better. The real challenge chinese models introduce to the AI bubble is how easy it is to make a cheap bootleg of these AI models without not that much of a quality dive. Thats putting pressure on the investors when they're banking on future being 1-2 big monopoly AI models and nothing else while its quite easy to just flood the market with cheap copies.

That one chinese company that advertised their ultra-realistic AI streamer girls turned out to use 10 3D modelers, 1 motion cap actress and 1 separate voice actress for the "AI model", so it was just a Vtuber agency putting little AI filter on top of a 3D model so they can call it "AI" for investors. Its a scam where 3D animators larp as robots for clueless people with a lot of money.

China has the biggest trade surplus in the world and they achieve that by exploiting their workforce that has artificially low pay wages.
