I really like the first evil within a lot. What about you, /v/?

TEW1 is an extremely flawed game that clearly needed another six months in the over before release. It's still fun in a way but awfully undercooked.
>>
>>739730363
Thought it was rather tedious desu senpai
>>
>>739730363
I prefer the second one, from the voice acting to the enemies and bosses to the story, but my friends who've played them think the first is better.
>>
>>739730715
The second one feels like a movie adaption while the first feels like the comic/manga version to me. Both are very fun to me personally, they actually get me up
>>
>>739730363
Couldn't bring myself to play the first one, it feels very dated even though it's not that old. Like I can pick up and play OG Deus Ex anytime but 7th gen games like this one put me to sleep.

The second one is so much worse.
>The Lost are far more generic than The Haunted so you just have candle people wandering around all game.
>Half the bosses are just lifted straight out of 1.
>Almost all the areas are generic American suburbia or pristine underground labs.
>The crossbow has way worse darts so it's less fun to use.
>There's way too much of a stealth kill focus.
>Catdogs suck so much though they're primarily relegated to the start of the game.
>Harbingers are unbelievably unfun additions to the game.
>Once you get to the Father Theodore section the game careens off a cliff and doesn't recover until 10 minutes from finishing it.
>Anima is just annoying across the board and only gets worse if you find her spawns earlier rather than right before you're done with an area due to the instakill chases.
>There's barely any "weird" sections once you get past Stefano and it's all fairly straightforward until the final 10 minutes.
>Guns all feel exceptionally weak.
>lmao4guardian if you get really unlucky where you walk during that part.
I wasn't a big fan of it during my first playthrough but Classic Mode cemented it's not that great.

It's unironically in my top 10 favorite games. Its alternate cover is also unfathomably kino.
>>
would I actually like it if TLOU1 is one of my top games ever but I also rate it above RE4, because despite "lees" enemy variety, the actual process of gameplay is more varied and non reducible to "Shoot head roundhouse kick"

It's fun.
>>
It was pretty fun, but it had a lot of old school stuff that I didnt like. Why in a horror game are we spamming limited ammo AND horde style sections with 30 dudes shooting at you with Rocket launchers/snipers. Am I playing a shooter or a horror game? Story was good though.

It's unsalvageable garbage and liking it makes you a worse human being.
>>
>>739730363
It's kino. one of my favorites
>>
>>739730363
Same. Although the beginning is hot ass with endless cutscenes. But once it gets going it's kino of the highest degree, mostly.
>>
>>739730363
i had to drop it after 2 hours because it gave me motion sickness
>>
>>739730363
Most satisfying barrel / box breaking punch of any game I've played.
Game was also really fun, once I accepted that I can't always play it like resident evil 4.
recently tried the second hardest difficulty, that filtered me pretty hard though
>>
>>739730363
>can't run
>health too little
>enemies can one shot you
>too dark
Nah fuck it

First felt like Psychonauts meets Saw. 2nd games okay but the first games atmosphere absolutely blows the second out of the water. The first game was a group of people trapped in a single serial killers crazed mind scape were every little detail was a reflection of the main bad guy and then you had the 2nd game where they're using a kids mind to create a relatively peacful vr town, that got infected with a COATING of a killers mind painted over it 3 times that lead to the world having to be kinda bland and basic to accommodate it. Also that 2nd games ending was such dogshit. The main bad guy knows the heros gonna pull some shit when exiting the VR world and literally has his pod under rifle aim 24/7 and the bad guys STILL fucked it up.

I replayed 2 recently and ended up flushing it in the tower area because of these turbo niggers. They have a combination of the most retarded AI and a ridiculously bloated health pool.
So basically you can waste almost all of your ammo killing a single one of them (there's a bunch of them), or you can spend 5 minutes stealth attacking them over and over.
WHAT WERE THEY THIIINKIIING?!
>>
>>739730363
I like the 1st one quite a bit
>>
>>739730363
No I don't. It wss very disappointing with only a couple of good segments. I enjoyed the second one a lot more but even that wasn't fantastic
>>
>>739730363
I liked it. I like the first couple hours of the second game better than the first, and then it just starts snowballing down a cliff into a trash can. I'm a person who can enjoy fucking indie walking simulators and movie games, so I don't categorically hate melodrama but the story and interactions between Sebastian and his wife were so godawful and tedious to sit through and I genuinely did not care about any of it. The sad piano music they play CONSTANTLY near the end to try to force you to feel sad about what's happening was ridiculous. IDK how we started with cool surrealist art horror environments and ended with Hallmark channel slop. Although I have to say replaying it that even Stefano's dialogue is kinda horribly written you can tell the developers had no actual appreciation or awareness of art.
>>
dont know how it took this long but this thread has somewhat convinced me to atleast keep the game on my radar
>>
>>739736413
Outside of the mandatory boss one you really should just stab them three times and break their AI to do so. It's not worth the effort and they make exploring a nightmare while they exist.
>>
>>739730363
2nd game aged better
>>
I'm mixed on it but the basic idea of a super variety pack of thriller horror setpieces is definitely a guilty pleasure. the first safe head fight is kind of like the paragonic ideal of what I think a horror gameplay segment should be. that said
>weird annoying controls
>a lot of segments that miss
>awful tedious ending
>broken upgrade system that makes several late game marquee setpieces pathetic
not perfect by any means though.

It's decent budget RE4 rehash when it's not constantly interrupting your gameplay every 5 minutes and when the bad Jap programming on a shitty Carmhack engine doesn't induce obnoxious jank bugs
It's baffling to me that Mikami is responsible for this it feels so amateurish half the time
>>
>>739731463
Sadly, it's very obvious that Mikami didn't direct the second one, and it's clearly a huge downgrade.

I loved it when it came out, even completed an akumu run. It has many flaws, especially in the later chapters. I wish they kept the direction for the sequel instead of going the slop way.

how? I found the first few chapters horrible but was enjoying it more towards the end

This and watching hannibal gave me a similar feeling of like deep depression and feeling like I was fucking schizophrenic or something.
And yet, I enjoyed them

I was playing manhunt while watching hannibal, same feeling where I wondered wtf I was doing wallowing in this as my entertainment
