I think my first conscious memory of a videogame was one of those PC kindergarten educational games. It had a rabbit.

My choice of "Favorite Game of All Time" is currently changing. I've played some damn good games recently, and have been in a reflective state of mind.
First of all, if you want to talk "objectively", I admire certain competitive multiplayer games as examples of truly "objectively good" game design, but matters of taste are ultimately subjective, even irrational, and attempting to take an "objective" view on things is often merely a way of trying to disguise your true feelings.
For many years now, I've considered Metroid Prime 2 to be my favorite game.
I've also always been partial to Mega Man Zero (the first game) even though I know it's kusoge.
Having just beaten it recently, 358/2 Days has skyrocketed to possibly being my number 1 favorite. I consider it to be near-literary quality sci-fi, comparable to the works of Philip K. Dick, or Jorge Luis Borges. A genuinely good story; and more than that, it's something that could only be accomplished through a videogame. A certain boss fight has been living rent free in my head for about a month now.
With this said though, I realized its story about "false people" and all of its dark sci-fi elements are also things I like about MMZ: the "un-personed" Reploid Resistance fighting for their right to exist...
The particularly sci-fi drama of having to put down a false copy of a loved one...
358 is objectively a better game, but it also made me realize I like MMZ even more than I already thought I did.
