I think generative AI is a good thing for video games, and I'm not sorry.
>>739740848I think generative AI COULD BE a good thing for video gamesSeeing what uses AI is being pushed for, however, I don't believe there are any chances of that happening
>>739740848so far only games with ai generated content are porn vns
>>739740848It's good for mundane things like repetitive textures and frivolous coding projects, but struggles with everything else. Not going to stop cheap/lazy fucks from trying though.
>>739740848I think a bullet is too good for you
>>739740848>Ease of use to produce more low quality shit resulted with more garbage in stores, even Nintendo Store is spammed with shitty AI slop games>Significantly increased Hardware priceno
>>739740848>currently can barely produce actual games or viable game assets>results are generic unreal artstation portfolios at best>same shit, just churned out faster>also, you need to sell a kidney to afford a computer nowPlease explain your reasoning.
>>739740848>I'm not sorry.You will be
people say they like my art but I hate making art, it's always a struggle and it never comes out right.AI shit never comes out right either but at least it's easier. I wish I could make something beautiful effortlessly
I've yet to see any good examples.
>>739740848>and I'm not sorry.You will be
>>739741242If your money has been in the stock market like it should have been, then it's been 3x'd in the time AI 2x'd hardware prices.
>>739740848It’s okay to be retarded
>>739741339Nothing worth doing has ever come easy or effortlessly
generative ai is shit for anything but generating porn (which is being kneecapped to appease feminists and religious zealots)the future of ai doesn't look too great but ai upscaled textures are nice
>>739741441Then it is not worth doing.
>>739741515Then you're not worthy of life
>>739741515Your words, not mine
Considering the AI boom will directly result in the collapse of the industry due to the inaccessibility of hardware, I kind of doubt the savings made by firing a few artists are going to make up for that. Especially once all the big AI companies think enough people are hooked on it that they can jack their prices up so they can actually start profiting.
>>739741441it's just frustrating cause some people come out the pussy dropping bangers and the only bangers coming from me are the ones my head makes against the wall>>739741515>>739741630neither of you are me
>>739741635collapsing the industry is a good thing for vidya doebeit
>>739741669only if you like indie games
>>739741660>it's just frustrating cause some people come out the pussy dropping bangerswrong + you're not seeing their turds
>>739741669No, it's not, and you're retarded for saying so. We have so many good games coming out now and you retards sit on here pining for the worthless days of the 360 when nearly every game was the same boring AAA trash. The death of the hardware market is going to kill all the boutique publishers churning out great games while room temperature iq morons like you clap because a AAA game has a woman with big tits in it.
>>739741690>implying indie games will be a viable market when buying a computer will be as expensive as buying a car
>>739741928when the only hardware anyone owns is outdated junk from a decade ago the only viable market left will be indie 2dslop that can run on a toaster
hello sirs of releasing the sloppening, many games very good yes
>>739740848The pinnacle of generative AI is torturing fictional characters
>>739740848>i thinkshouldnt it be extremely easy to quantify if it does or not? or is it more like a cult with faith
>>739740848You're wrong. Some random leaf texture being AI generated makes the game literally unplayable soulless trash.
>>739740848>you know what would really improve this absolute trash industry filled to the brim with 0 effort slop?>more slop
>>739741339You don't want to be an artist, you want to be "The Ideas Guy".
>>739742262coming up with ideas for art is my least favorite part of the process.my mind is completely fucking blank most of the time, I feel like I'm barely even sentient
>>739741028Just about every videogame released in the last year or two has generative ai content. You not noticing it is by design.
>>739742407Damn, you are truly who AI is made for
>>739741870>boutique publishers churning out great gamescare to name some?
>console stores are now flooded with AI generated Skibidi Toilet Backrooms 67 Labubu Baldi Garden of Playtime like it's the fucking Google App Store>Google themselves have announced that Google will soon default to mainly showing you AIslop content and on Jewtube people will be able to freely use AI to "edit" people's content (it will be something you "opt out" of so it will be enabled by default)Sure
>>739740848serious question here, I keep reading from actual devs how amazing it will be to have generative AI for NPCs and dialogues with them, but does anyone want that? like imagine an RPG game with 50 npcs in one town and you cant even find the one with a quest because they keep talking about bullshit. even within some guardrails where NPCs can only talk about some given stuff, this seems (to me) tedious and as some next-level RPing that I dont want from videogames. and I dont even want to think about AI generated quests themselves
>>739741870>We have so many good games coming out nowSo true, Mixtape is epic.
>>739740848Generative AI is good for everything. Good take OP.>>739741210Humans have been producing low quality crap before AI was even a thing. Blame humans for being retards.
>>739741339>>739741503Skill issue. My AI generations come out perfect.
>>739741210>>739742730Spanming the same retarded buzzword doesn't make your argument any better.>muh social mediaI don't care, normalfag. This is about games.
>>739742810>ERRRR WE ALWAYS HAD TRASH SO WHY EVEN MORE TRASH BAD??? XDAh, the favourite argument of AIsloppers. Not even defending AI, just admitting that it's a trash factory but it's heccin good anyway because we always had trash. Compare it to planes, cars and internet next, that's always a kneeslapper.
>>739740848You are dumb.Remember that AI is made by the people that has made computing shit for the people that wants to keep it that way.
>>739742889Okay. And I don't want AI generated garbage on gaming platforms. Keep it on the App Store where it belongs.
>>739740848"generative AI" is too broad. genning art is shit and will always look like shitbut genning code, every studio, every dev already does it, there's no escaping it, and people don't even notice if it's closed source.
>>739742993People will notice results of poorly made vibe coded garbage, such as bugs or bad performance. This is like saying "yeeeeah we built this house out of paper, cheap cement, spit and chewing gum, who's gonna notice? You gonna look inside the walls?"Oh wait, I just described the Chinese construction industry.
>>739743067AI codes better than the average outsourced jeet that studios have been using for a while, people won't notice shit.
>>739740848It makes shitty devs stand out more so it's easier to avoid them. That's a nice feature.
>>739743164>AI codes better than the average outsourced jeetSo it codes like a white 10 year old?
>>739742786>i want bing bang woohoo, not virtual worlds to live and immerse inGood thing nintendo has your toddler tastes covered forever
>>739743484I didnt say that but ok nigger. I think there is a fine line between immersion and "too real so its boring"
>>739743620You implied it. Generative AI endgame for videogames is being essentially trpg gamemaster that you can finetune to your liking.
>>739740848I'm changing my mind about AI after learning how data centers are ruining cities and mass polluting it.Literally jeet rat nests
>>739743164AI writes code in a vacuum of understanding. It's results-focused. That's great for short little things and common functions you need to save some time with, but the more of it you use, the higher the chance of an unnoticed problem chain-banging up your code. And because noone put the thought into the process and logic, noone properly understands what the fuck any of your code is doing - including the AI - and fixing it becomes exhorbittantly difficult.
>>739740848It's a tool like any other, it has some use cases but I don't think that as a whole it will end up being good for video games. At the end of the day the users of the tool will still be retards trying to shove it everywhere as a substitute for actual effort. But it could be good in theory, yeah.
After testing what small scale local models like Gemma 4 e4b are capable of these days. You will very likely see Ai replace typical NPC behavior and this is a good thing to be honest. You basically just give it a toolset like you would if you were using openclaw as its agentic level. While its not good for convincing dialogue that doesn't sound like twitter shitposts, other functionality like more contexually appropriate actions and reactivity is greatly achievable and has been demonstrated in the past already with things like skyrim. Before these kinds of things were not feasible without some kind of cloud infrastructure. This is no longer the case today. After testing it myself with Minecraft AI bot which normally requires a cloud level agent to even function I am highly confident to see this kind of thing within many dev projects in the next 5 to 10 years.
>>739743726No, generative AI endgame for videogaes is mass-producing sterile, generic crap for cheap and filling it with censorship & no fun allowed bullshit. >m-muh local AIYou really think they will allow you to keep that. In early days of AI you could do anything you wanted then AI dungeon niggers caused a stink about heccin pedophiles and the push for moderation, censorship and filters started. All it takes is someone starting to make claims about heccin evil child rapists using local AI to make child pornography and it will get axed too.((((They)))) didn't create AI for you to have fun in it, anyway. It was made for cutting costs and firing people.
