Sounds like a posture/ergonomics problem. aka, skill issue.

Get good by getting comfy.

happened to me but my wrist. started around age 33 and only got worse. entire right upper arm feels slightly numb 24/7. it is always on your mind even when you're sleeping. any excessive mouse use makes wrist hurt. only surgery can fix it at that point.

take care of your wrists zoomers, don't think it won't happen to you. for me it came seemingly out of nowhere and only got worse, even if you take long breaks it only went away temporarily but it comes back until eventually it never goes away.

I'm trying to make a game and only playing it for 3 minutes gives me cramps on my mouse hand.
>>
>>739768151
Isn’t that a trapped nerve i.e. no amount of "taking care of your wrist" was going to prevent it?
>>
>>739766247
nice
let us know if that changes
>>
For me it’s specifically holds that fuck me up.
>can keyboard smash or controller clack for hours on end without issue
>but anything that requires pressing and holding a button or click fatigues my hand like nothing else
It’s annoying as fuck. I’d exercise to improve it if I knew what kind of work it needed.

I unironically did this to deal with Carpal tunnel; I now only use my right hand when playing games and use my left hand for everything else. Also applying Ice helps a ton.
>>739768151
>>739768281
Get an ice packet and something to strap it to your wrist, it's how I've coped with Carpal Tunnel after getting symptoms nearly a decade ago.
>>
I'm 41 years old and 15 months ago my wrist started hurting so much the pain didn't let me sleep.
First the doctor told me I had carpal tunnel and sent me to rehabilitation; they made me memorize a set of wrist exercises to make every single day for the rest of my life. This year one day the pain became chronic to the point where I spent weeks without sleeping. Another doctor checked me, sent me to get an exam to see how bad is my carpal tunnel...
The results came in and the doctor says I don't have carpal tunnel (but they still don't know what is wrong with me) so I have another session with another specialist.

I don't regret playing videogames; I do wasting so much time on 4chan, to the point where I'm 100% sure the board is the one responsible for my carpal tunnel (I'm sure the second doctor is wrong; it can't be anything else).

I'm 36, have played with mouse and keyboard and various controllers (all the way back to atari 2600) since I was 4, and I use a computer for multiple hours every day for gaming and work, and I've never had this happen, I don't even use a wrist support for my mouse hand

I don't understand how this becomes an issue, because I feel like I should be in the top percentile for developing it based on my habits and how long I've had them
>>
>>739768932
that yoga mission in gta 5 absolutely fucked my hands up with the amount of holding the sticks you had to do.
>>
>>739769190
I'm >>739769151 and like you I spent all my waking time either on a computer or playing videogames; everything was fine and dandy and never had any issues until one day the pain started and never left, a pain so awful I can only sleep by taking pain medication before going to bed.

Or maybe I'm just a low test piece of shit with woman's wrists and you'll be fine.
>>
>>739766247
Haha that me four years ago...
>>
>>739768623
for me it was both wrist + the ulnar nerve in elbow that gets compressed. i have to use mice which face upwards and at night you wear a thing to avoid your body flexing the elbow while you're asleep. i'd have nights where i'd wake up and the entire upper part of my arm was completely numb to the point where you could hardly even feel it was there. it's really bad because there is no pain so you don't wake up from it but it's scary as fuck when you wake up and it feels like you just sat on your arm for eight hours.

for wrists specifically what you want to avoid is sustained left-right movement where your arm is straight but the hand moves left and right thus pinching either side of the wrist. and avoid mice that are too small for your hand which causes your hand to grip tightly around the mouse in a claw-like posture. a bigger mouse will let your hand just sort of rest on the mouse rather than having to grip it tightly for precise movements.

Fair enough, I'll take some more precautions, I guess it's the same as most aches and pains for people like us now, one day you just wake up with a new pain that has seemingly no explanation, sometimes it goes after a day or so, sometimes it's just how you are now and you just have to accept this is your life going forward

I hope they figure out what’s wrong with your hand and can sort it out though dude

>>739770779
What that retarded anon doesn't realize is that being skinny is what increases risk for carpal tunnel, not being fat.
>>
>>739772980
Is it the wrists? Then what is it when it's your palm that hurts? Or the hands? I don't feel pain in the wrists.

Around last year I got hit by a triple whammy of health issues. Woke up one morning with massive pain in my lower back that never really went away.
Carpal tunnel flare up later on in the year I have to do wrist exercise every day. Oh and I'm getting acnee again so that's nice.
I'm 34.

I can't recall how many times I was told as a kid that just sitting in front of the screen was bad for me, but here I am. Maybe it's because I stayed away from alcohol and tobacco, who knows, I might just be lucky and one day the luck will run out and I'll just drop dead

This is probably why I don’t like my current vertical mouse. It’s just a little too small so I catch myself death gripping it all the time.
I think this will motivate me to get a better one.
