>Game is actually too intelligent for journos they think they have beaten when in reality it's just the first half of the game
No wonder these retards gave it low scores

Calling this a babygame is an insult to babies. I played harder games when I was an infant.
>>
>>739814275
What, is it a SOTN thing, or more like Super Ghouls and Ghosts?
>>
>>739814275
it's a game for high IQ people. It's a cosmic horror game at its core hidden behind a facade that is for babies
>>
>>739814669
OP is of course baiting, the game has a simple fakeout interface/ending where it makes you think it's six worlds long, then once you beat the sixth world it runs credits but then keeps going with a second set of worlds that appears on the book's next page. The fakeout ending itself doesn't attempt to fool you in any way, it has no special requirements to access it, the story clearly hasn't ended yet and in fact it's when it really starts to develop. Still, I'm sure there were some journalists who did not finish the first six worlds and extrapolated a general assessment of the game's length from how much they had left to get there, while the game is literally twice as big as that.
>>
>>739814275
You still pay attention to game journos? They're a relic of a bygone era.
>>
>>739814345
this
the sesame street NES games had more challenge
>>
>>739814275
I'm playing this and Lego Batman back to back and honestly i'd give Batman to a toodler faster than Yoshi.
>>
>daily NDS thread
>>
>>739815130
Are you crazy? You can get hurt in LEGO Batman. You even have limited lives. Game overing means redoing the entire 1-hour long level.
>>
>>739815303
Not really, even in dark knight mode if you run out of lives you only go back to the latest checkpoint instead of reviving right away.
>>
>>739815303
getting hurt in batman is not the end all be all in difficulty. puzzles can absolutely prove harder than basic ass combat
>>
Health and lives would add absolutely nothing to this game, there are already plenty of stars that only give you one chance to get whatever sequence of things you have to do right and require to restart the level if failed. Even when you can salvage something because a vital enemy respawns for instance you still have to correctly execute, further punishment would be just a waste of time.
>>
>>739815141
it's a switch 2 game, anon
>>
>>739815303
it's not the ability to lose progress that separates a game from toddler games
it's just that it's a shitty field guide in some sort of platforming sandbox where you try random shit until you tick checkboxes. it feels less like a game and more like one of those museum guides for 3DS. meanwhile
>super mario galaxy, where levels have clear start and end points and you're expected to go through gauntlets of obstacles to obtain a star
>super mario 64's levels always goals in mind, even when you have dumb side minigames (e.g. open the chests in order, defeat all the boos at the merry-go-round, beat koopa the quick)
>unlike mario, who marches to bowser's castle to rescue the princess, yoshi has no motivation, goals or anything. and it's not like the book's pages are being burned by bowser junior or anything either
super lucky's tale has the adventure storybook gimmick too, but it actually feels like a game
>>
>>739815904
So it's an adventure game, that's more about solving a level's puzzles, than it is platforming challenges? That's literally fine.
>>
>>739815020
The Sesame Street count game on NES literally has more gameplay than any aaa title. Not necessarily “challenging” though
>>
>>739815989
>adventure game
>no adventuring
what did he mean by this?
>>
>>739816204
Are you familiar with the adventure game genre?
>>
>>739816306
phoenix wright is an adventure game
your baby toddlershit is not an adventure game
>>
>>739814275
Didn't they mostly call it a platformer when it was more of a puzzle game?
>>
>>739817743
It's not the easiest thing to categorize. It's a puzzle game and a platformer, but calling it "puzzle platformer" is a bit off from what those games typically are.
>>
>>739814981
retarded ign and kotaku reviewers said they didn't do the postgame when it wasn't the postgame. there's a actual postgame after you beat the "fakeout"

It's goty 2026 not even joking

>>739814275
I'm glad weird experimental shit like this is still getting made. This feels more like a weird Kirby spinoff than a Yoshi one.

>drives /v/ impossibly mad.
How such little flower thing could have so much power?
>>
>>739814275
Are we really acting like a game that sings nursery rhymes and lullabies at you has challenging or deep gameplay?
>>
Saw that the reception was actually pretty good, especially among people who weren’t stupid enough to think it was a typical platformer, so I snagged it. It’s really fun, and really dense with content, if you’re going for completion. I do find some tasks annoying though, like “cover every surface with spores” or “turn every crazy dayzee into grass” in thudd’s level. Just takes too long and isn’t interesting or satisfying. But it’s a small issue in the grand scheme

It's the highest scoring Yoshi game ever made
>>
>>739824104
Yoshi’s Island DS is higher rated

Are you positive this is the case? the guy at IGN said that theres just one level of the game that makes proper use of the premise or something. Is it confirmed that he didnt play it through?
>>
I liked when I massacred a ton of fake Kirby’s and then Mr E said that they think I’m their friend
>>
I think the game gets a bad rap because the first worlds are for literal toddlers
Nintendo should have prepared trailers that show off later worlds so people get a better idea of how challenging it gets
>>
>>739826839
Probably better to sell it to the baby demographic who isn’t as plugged in than to risk scaring them off to attract a demographic that will find out it isn’t baby exclusive eventually anyway. This is the title in their catalogue to help bring in that audience to the console. They have other games for the audience that will balk at this one
>>
trannies at nintendolife seem to hate it
>>
>>739828494
>demographic that will find out it isn’t baby exclusive eventually anyway
Except they won't. Most people are superficial and don't look at games past the 5 or 10-second preview.
Only established fans will look past it, and those are outnumbered by at least 2 orders of magnitude by non-fans
>>
>>739814275

no shit sherlock
>>
>retards on /v/ keep telling me "you can't die"

they are lying
>>
>>739814275
personally, I thought the explicit sex scene was a little out of place
>>
>>739832543
Right, but that doesn’t matter because Yoshi was never going to appeal to them. It was an uphill battle for a demographic they have plenty of other IP to win over. They made the right call advertising to who they did. “They didn’t advertise it to me” is not a mistake in advertising, especially with a wholistic platform appeal view
>>
>>739822712
It might not be challenging but it has pretty good mechanics
>>
>>739835823
>you see, you're just not the target audience!
>wtf why is our game not selling 28 gorillion copies like Mario and Zelda
Uh-huh
>>
>>739836038
I’m sorry, what delusional entity in your mind was expecting this to sell 28 gorillion copies?
>>
>>739814275
What's the hidden second half?

also paging nora
>>
>>739836038
Nintendo doesn't plan on every game being Fortnite like Sony does. The most expensive game they've ever developed cost 100 million dollars, garbage like Saros cost 75 million.
