ANDREW'S GAME CHADS GET THE FUCK IN HERE IT'S FINALLY HAPPENINGhttps://store.steampowered.com/app/3901760/Crystal_Project_2/
who the fuck is andrew
>>739823230
>>739823159Weird that its lack of anti-player bullshit mechanics is a selling point Why do devs put things players so obviously hate like missables and collectable shit that steals time everywhere?
>telegraphed tactical combatWeird way to say rollslop.
>>739823421>Why do devs put things players so obviously hate like missables and collectable shit that steals time everywhere?the actual answer is because the games they grew up playing had them, so they put them in their games just because
>>739823459It's turn-based, not action. By "telegraphed" it means there's a big red line showing which party member the monster plans to attach next.
>>739823541>attachattack
>>739823302yes, that's why i asked.
andrew kino is back on the menu
>discord trannies circle jerk thread
>>739823831not everything is the fault of 'cord troons anon, people can actually just be hyped for stuff
>>739823459You couldn't do even the most minimal research. Nigger level intelligence stat.
>IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING>Release date: To be announced
>>739823541>It's turn-basedSo is E33, didn't stop it from being rollslop.
Should I pick up the first one? It's on sale for a couple of bucks on the Switch 2.
>>739824176Do you like FF5? If so it's worth giving a go.
>>739824051I think on the Steam community he said it was gonna be closer to end of year or early '27
>try the first game>all your character sprites are generic sprites that the npcs also usemiss me with that shit
>>739824176Yeah, it's definitely worth it if you like games with job systems as well as ones that don't hold your hand throughout the entire experience.
first game was so soulless did they get real humans to work on this one?
We're eating good boys
>>739827736i got memed into playing the first one and the couple hours I put into it were just mind boggling more than anything. the game is so trash the very concept of people liking and recommending it is confusing.
>>739824131E33 is not rollslop, stop being contrarian
>>739824176it should have a demo if you're interested. Lasts about 8-10 hours and you can transfer to the full game
>>739823230The most talented shill in the history of /v/He is constantly posting his game on here
>>739826947They're also all purchased from an asset store
Finally. Crystal Project's one of the best JRPGs of the past 2 decades, only SaGa and random savant RPG Maker games compare.
please don't make me do Quintar breeding again...
>>739828283Yeah same. Glad I pirated it.
>>739831443yeah i only played for 40 minutes but it all felt so cheap
>>739832265>only played for 40 minutesfiltered
>>739823159motherfuck yes, i loved crystal project, based andrew is back
>>739829915you're right, it's just slop
>>739823159https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HifT2aylVEEbest battle theme?
>>739829915Sorry to burst your bubble but you're the contrarian.
>>739823159I'm proud to say that I did the dino races legit before everyone found it the AI is retarded.
>>739832990I managed to get 1st with the rental salmon. Never again.
>>739823159>literally just the same gameembarrassing desu
>>739833860There's no other game out there like Crystal Project so more of the same is good.
>>739823159I got the first one in my wishlist but I added it so long ago I forgot why. Was it like FFV or something.
>>739834080Open world platforming FFV.
>>739834080its not that good and gets shilled on here from time to time, probably by the developer's friends.
>>739833676you're insane, that shit was way too hard
>>739834837It took me an hour and a half and it's all luck based whether the white salmon gets jammed behind the slower ones.
>>739834750Still yet to see why Crystal Project 'isn't that good'.
>>739835672you just play it, and are like "dang, this isn't that good", not much else to it really.
>>739835781That didn't happen though. I played it and thought it was the best RPG I've played in a very long time.
>>739835781again, being contrarian for contrarian's sake. Kinda cringe tbqh
>>739829915It is though. The game requires you to dodge attacks all the time
>>739836652dodge =/= roll, obviously
the first one it's still on my backlog, one of these days i'll get to it.
>>739824271I love FF5 but hated Crystal Project. The similarities are superficial.
Crystal Project 1 is the best JRPG of the decade and shits all over all 3 Octopath games.
>>739837208Indeed, it insists upon itself.
@739837229I have a hard time believing that
>>739835991It's the first RPG in a long time that actually requires you to think about your build and create set-ups around specific bosses. Most JRPGs are just the same boss over and over with higher stats. I just hope the sequel has a better way to level up jobs. I really like how Bravely Default 2 gave you easy ways to quickly level jobs faster at the end. Anyone who doesn't like it probably just like braindead JRPGs where you mash A through every battle.
>>739837602I breezed through the game with setups without much tweaking until the endgame bosses that were actually hard, and I was still able to pull wins out of those without total class and build changeups, often just some gear, passive, and maybe subclass changes. It wasn't brainless but it wasn't exactly smashing my balls either.
@739837229I have an easy time believing that
>>739836652So Paper Mario is roll-slop?
A JRPG with no story…
>>739823159Crystal Project was boring as fuck why would i want a sequel
>>739835672It's literally not 20% as good as Enchant Farm, and Enchant Farm is a free game.
>>739838084Funny I thought it was the other way around.
>>739838003people aren't ready for that conversation yet anon
>>739837602you can tweak pretty much everything in Crystal Project now, so if you want to powerlevel you can set the xp rate super high
>>739837229I enjoyed all of those games and also Enchant Farm and also other jarpigs as well. All very fun games.
>OS: Windows 7Based Andrew
>what the fuck is this Enchant Farm people are talking about?>it's Crystal Project but Japaneseoh fuck yes now I've got something to play while waiting for Crystal Project 2
>>739838914>settingslopIt's even worse in RPGs than it is in action games.
>>739839302why are you like this? does anything please you?
>>739839302Autism.
>>739837208I agree. I enjoyed Crystal Project, but disliked FF5.>>739838012No story would be an improvement. What little story Crystal Project has is pretty terrible.>>739838084I enjoyed them both about equally.
I just played this game for 5 hours, got lost, found a fishing place, got told i need to give a guy a lure to get the fishing skill. Beat some blob with bones in it, levelled all the way to 12 and still cant find the next fucking area holy shit at least have fast travel to towns or something, thats not baby shit thats just quality of life. I had 2 members dead and my healer had no mana but i gotta scramble my way back to a town that i cant fucking find cause no map.
>>739840321>thats just quality of lifeThe most cancer modern gaming turn>but i gotta scramble my way back to a town that i cant fucking find cause no map.Pick up a pencil nigga, if you're bad at keeping locations in your mind just sketch out the rough layout. Its like going on a real adventure
>>739840321You are literally right next to it.
>>739840562I fell off the fucking pathway to the next area and cant find my way back to it, now i have to find the long way round without a map. Its a fun combat system and interesting game but fuck me just gimme a minimap or something. I have a 12 hour shift soon and I had to save in the middle of butt fuck nowhere which will be annoying to come back to.
>>739840321it's about the journey, not the destination. Stop freaking out about "finding the right path" and just relax
>>739837885Did you even play on hard? The bosses barely even do any mechanics otherwise
>>739840680Saves put you back at your last home point.
>>739840795Yes.
>>739840761>stop freaking out about finding the right pathDude i get like a couple hours a day to game, today was a rarity and your telling me I cant just have a map or something?
>>739840795hard is definitely the difficulty to play it on, really forces you to optimize your jobs and abilities. Pretty fun
>>739823159Will this one actually be good? The first game just felt like the sandbox aspect was a complete fucking lie.
>>739840890The game is basically a Metroidvania if it were an RPG. You're meant to just wander. And there are maps, you're meant to fill them in yourself.
>>739837229I enjoyed>Black Souls 2>Enchant Farm>E33more. But yeah, it's pretty damn good. I couldn't get into SMT V/MGQ:P for some reason, the difficulty scaling in both games was all over the place.
>>739838084Enchant farm aesthetics are too gay for words though.
>>739841354SMTV Vengeance has much better difficulty scaling.
>>739839218Enjoy, it's great, though it has a VERY obnoxious shill. It's almost fascinating how seemingly every single game gets its own little schizo on /v/.If you want more nonlinearity, try Romancing SaGa 2 (I heard it got a remake recently) and Black Souls 1+2. And if you want more job autism, try Bravely Default+Bravely Second (avoid BD2) and MGQ:P.
>>739823159my main issue with crystal project was that I never felt like my characters were getting stronger. Every new section felt like an uphill battle and it eventually got tedious. It also didn't help that later classes were basically useless since rogue (a beginner class) was the strongest class, at least what i found.
>Andrew...Hussie?
>>739823159/v/ convinced me to buy the first one and I never played it, I'm going to get the second one as well.
>>739823159Glorified dlc, will flop harder that swinesong
>>739841826bait used to have effort behind it.
>>739841530>a very obnoxious shillFunny how you never complain when it's the same 4-5 retards shilling Cuckhold Project.
>>739840321Back in my day those were the most kino of moments.
>>739841581Yeah, I don't think I ever had that problem. There were always combos you could build for that made you feel stronger for the area than you otherwise would. Main problem I had is that transitioning from one really strong class to a less strong class sucked and made you feel weaker. Rogue is a good class but definitely not the best.
>>739824176>>739837208play with the FF mod
>>739826947Nigger's mad because he isn't even special in the video game, lmfao
>>739843246I like the mod for being much more than just "FF references" the mod, it's instead "90s Squaresoft references" the mod, instead. Live A Live, Mana, CT (of course), probably a game or two I missed admittedly, but also damn near every FF game under the sun as well. I appreciate that kind of fanservice, it's the kind of pandering made for me.
>>739840890>Dude i get like a couple hours a day to game, And you spend part of that time on /v/eddit.
I refuse to play Enchant Farm because that one fag is so aggressively obnoxious that I can only assume only absolute retards can enjoy it. It also aesthetically looks awful.Anyways, I loved Crystal Project and am really excited for the sequel. Probably the best JRPG I've played in terms of pure gameplay. People criticize the free assets, but I didn't have any issue with it, and the music was amazing despite being license-free.
>>739823159So that's why the first one is on discount right now. Mhhh could boughter it .
>>739823159Holy shit WHAT!
how does a jrpg work without a story? jrpgs are glorified VNs. Felvidek had some interesting design but the characters were 95% of the appeal.
>>739845679The grandfather of JRPGs, Wizardry, also doesn't have any story beyond what you read in the manual.
>>739823541this is just a 4 in a row menu game...
>>739842009How boring is your life that you have to enter a thread about a game you don't like just to announce to people who don't give a fuck that you don't like it? Yes, I am aware I'm giving you the (YOU) you so desperately craved.
>>739846080not the person youre replying to, didnt read the reply chain, but I like to post.
>>739845679You go from place to place beating things up and getting new items and abilities so you can go to new places beating new things up and getting newer and better items and abilities. Not hard.
HOLY SHIT
>>739841581you probably weren't synergizing your classes together as well as you could've
>>739843246been playing through that one for the past few weeks and unironically having a blast. Hard as fuck though
>>739824131You're literally just throwing every /v/ buzzword that springs to the top of your head aren't you? Don't forget to call Crystal Project friendslop and FOMO while you're at it.
>>739850624>>739850718>thread mysteriously bumped with absolutely non-contributing reply at the last second when it's right about to archive>"HAVING A BLAST!!!"The shills really are out in force hard today.
I got to some ruins with an owl before I got busy and never finished, how close was I to the end?
>>739851217pretty close, owl is one of the lategame mounts
>>739823159Huh, I played 1 at launch and got to the endgame, ended up bouncing off of it then since everything was a tedious fuckfest.
>>739838084I beat Enchant Farm and still had more moment to moment enjoyment with Crystal Project than it, even if I thought CP was just alright overall.
>>739845265Hating that retard is perfectly natural, but Enchant Farm is a good game.
i liked the ff mod but not the base gamethe other overhaul mod inspired by crystal chronicles was alright too
>>739851103>The shills>pluralI see you fell for Andrew's greatest trick.
>>739851103thank goodness you're here to be the policeman we all need
>>739835672games that big need some type of loreCrystal Project's "lore" is that it knows it's a video gameThe dev was even too lazy to change the name to something fantastical.
>>739843585If it references Bahamut Lagoon I'll buy the game and install it right now.
>>739823159is andew's game actually worth it or did /v/ meme me itno buying it?
>>739854856it's unironically worth it, genuinely fantastic game
>>739854856It's a game made by an autist for other autists. There just happens to be a lot of 'em around here.
>>739854873hm, maybe i'll give it a chance this weekend instead of getting the 2026 CK3 dlc pack
>>739823159A bit disappointing he didn't improve the visuals at all, even if it was just stylistically.
>>739855040you can pirate it pretty easily too if you don't want to spend the $$$
>>739841581Rogue is a solid class, but there's a lot of good synergies you can build with others. Assassin with Hunter sub and a bow absolutely styles on enemies. It's amazing for regular battles and you can build the rest of your party around it to wreck bosses, especially once you get your hands on a particular bow.
>>739855090already bought it years ago, anon
>>739841581A lot of earlygame classes are still viable in the lategame, but lategame relies a lot more on specific strats with specific classes and equipment, as well as countering specific boss gimmicks, so you can't just blindly unga bunga past the midgame.
>>739854856>did /v/ meme me itno buying it?yes i fell for it too, it happens
>>739854856I beat it in 64 hours, did the stupid not!chocobo breeding too, technically got 100% but haven't done a few superbosses and bonus dungeons
>>739823159YES! TAKE MY MONEY, ANDREW! MY BODY IS READY
>>739823421>missables>>739823459>rollslop-100 intelligence mongrels
>>739856478don't blame you, some of those superbosses are fucking infuriating
>low effort 2d anime shit gameclassic.
>>739834080FFV from Temu, but with platforming mechanics and a dev that apparently likes those Only Up games.I had it on my wishlist for a long time, and eventually just pirated it, then realized I didn't like it, oops.
>>739823159As long as its priced like the first one it's a guaranteed purchase for me. Loved the first one.
Yeah regarding how divisive it is I'm going to skip out on it. Herbing this obvious shill thread.
>>739823159Thats cool...although it looks like the exact same game as the first. I hope theres an actual reason to play it over 1.
>>739857553/v/ really will use any excuse to avoid playing a video game won't they?
>>739857774Hi I'm /v/ I'm playing an actual jrpg right now and then I'll try out Stardust that just came out. https://store.steampowered.com/app/3936730/STARDUST_Wish_of_Witch/
I loved the first game but something I never understood was why the metroidvania aspects didn't piss me off like they normally do. I have quite literally never played a metroidvania all the way through except crystal project. Idk if it was less obtuse or more compelling but either way I fucked with it in a way I don't fuck with backtracking games. andrew give second game pls.
>>739857892>srpg>card battlergross
>>739857892I liked CP more than TITS
>>739857892>stardustthe art and animations have a lot of SOVL>srpgehh i liked final fantasy tactics so i'll try it
>>739858864The tits remake is so much better
>thread reminded me of Time Break Chronicles>check it>its still stuck in EA>seems abandonedThats a shame. Other than the game forcing a character into your party, I liked it a lot.
>>739845959>it's just 4 niggas in a rowthat is the definition of JRPG, yes.
>>739840321you can fast travel between save points, you're just lost in the early game where you have barely any of the overworld accessible without intentional sequence breaking.just follow the obvious path forward
HOLY FUCKING KIINNNOOOOOOOO!!!!!! A SEQUEL TO THE BEST 4 NIGGAS IN A ROW GAME! Unironicly. Can't wait for him to find a way to fuck it up because he ain't catching that "perfect nigh direction-less adventure" feeling again.
>>739863717Kill yourself nigger
>>739823421>>739823502Missables add soul and value to repeat playthroughs. But the problem is that the games from people's childhoods that had them were only 20 hours long while the ones people make now are 80 hours long so replaying them is a tall order.
>>739864010missables are the exact opposite of soul. soul is when you put extra effort into the small details that don't necessarily matter.putting something LOW effort in to get something HIGH VALUE (a replay) out of the player is quite literally the opposite of soul. basically you're retarded.
>>739864151>soul is when you put extra effort into the small details that don't necessarily matter.Like being able to do something different to gain or miss out on an item?
>>739863954Sorry faggot. I like to actually play video games and Gameplay is KING. I genuinely don't give a fuck if most of the game is pre-bought assets.
>>739843585>it's instead "90s Squaresoft references" the modGay.
>>739864010>Missables add soul
>>739864405Totally organic post
This thread is not organic at all
>>739842009Crystal Project fans don't go into threads of every other game and say THIS THREAD'S GAME IS FUCKING SHIT YOU SHOULD PLAY AN ACTUALLY GOOD GAME LIKE CRYSTAL PROJECT INSTEAD, Enchantfag.
>>739841581I'm inclined to agree, it also has the problem with jobs where any time you swap from a mastered job to a new job you get weaker because the new job has nothing unlocked and you need to grind out JP to make them worth a damn.
>>739863318>you can fast travel between save pointsyou can fast travel to ONE save point at a time unless you turn on an "assist option" (that just means a cheat) that lets you store a maximum of only three locations to warp between at a timeturning the option on means it can't be turned off and permanently marks your savefile btw
>>739855053Yeah, would've thought a visual overhaul would've been a first priority. The environment is one thing but it's still the same asset packs for NPCs and enemies.
>>739864629So just turn the option on then, autist. You also get about 8 different fast travel points for set locations unlocked across the course of the game.
So how does Crystal Project rank amongst the other job system games? FFV and the Bravely games specifically
>>739864629You also get consumable shards that let you teleport to shrines that are all over the map, as well as stones that act as permanent versions of the shards. There's one such shrine located in the main town so getting back there is always going to be easy.
>>739864786It's moderately autistic. I don't remember much of ff5 but I'd say it's around bravely default level of complexity. The problem would be more around the encounter designs as explained here >>739855539which tend to be quite strict for post game content from what I remember .
>>739864327No. That is literally the exact opposite. That is something LOW effort from the developer. It was EASY for the devs of FFXII to hide their legendary weapon behind 12 arbitrary choices over the course of the game. The main point of was to sell officially licensed strategy guides.
>>739829915E33 is boring dogshit QTEs. At least in rollslop there is more going on because I am also choosing a direction for the roll, or I could be far enough away I don't need to roll, and I need to decide if I should roll again or attack. E33 has none of that
>>739864589I haven't played in 2 years but I remembered this being incredibly easy as early as goat mount for some reason.
I loved Andrew's Game so I will certainly buy and play Andrew's Game 2.
>>739864431please sit on my face sabrina
>>739864786The jobs and combat systems themselves are better IMO, partly because the game requires you to think a little more carefully about your build. I like the overall game better too but that's gonna depend a lot on the person. You can tell it has a huge FF influence though, kind of similar to Stranger of Paradise.
>>739864786I'd give it a shot and see for yourself
you guys should totally go in grannys basement for some cool shit!
>>739865059>a specific game did something badly therefore the entire concept is bad
>>739864010Missables are good if they're tied to branching quests or other decisions. They're shit if they're guidebait or RNG drops limited to certain parts of the game.
>>739864010Do you think the Excalibur II in FFIX was "soul"?Do you think the Zodiac Spear in FFXII was "soul"?You literally had to go against the very nature of the game to get either of these items. Most of the time missables required you to do some esoteric bullshit you'd never do in a normal playthrough to get them.
>>739865557joke's on you, I got assraped by her once and ragequit the game
>>739866391>Do you think the Excalibur II in FFIX was "soul"? Do you think the Zodiac Spear in FFXII was "soul"?Yes.>Most of the time missables required you to do some esoteric bullshit you'd never do in a normal playthrough to get them. That's the point retard. The problem is you taking the idea of missing some random item as a personal slight. Completionism is a disease.
>AIIIIEEEE!!! IF I CANT 110% EVERY GAME AND NO HIT EVERY SUPER BOSS THE GAME FUCKKIIIN N GGGGNGNGN SUUUCKCCKKKKKSSSS!!!I fought the superbosses of Crystal Project and while I enjoyed some other were just really faggy but you know what that's fine because I didn't need to fight them. I already had plenty of fun with the game and they were just a Post-Game challenge.
Oooooooooooooooh my godCrystal project is kinda mid though
>>739857892>korean dub only
>>739866717>Shit that required a walkthrough to get is "soul"Here is where we disagree. I have no actual issues with missables in games as long as you can achieve them ORGANICALLY through a playthough even if it requires a shift from a normal one. There is a huge difference between say a hidden boss, hidden class, hidden character or even a hidden item that require you to make different choices or paths through a game to get and hurr durr go buy the Brady Games strategy guide to get this.
>>739867193>as long as you can achieve them ORGANICALLY through a playthough even if it requires a shift from a normal oneWhich is the case for both of your examples. You suck at this.
>HD2D trashMissed me with that bs, retard with shit taste.
>>739866929nah stop coping
>>739858720at least for the demo it doesn't really seem like a card battler, you don't really draw from or build a deckjust looks like a way to show what skills your characters have
Will this one allow modders to easily craft a world of their own? I really disliked the aggro and "future vision" mechanics, it made the combat too scripted so what carried the game for me was the exploration, but after playing the Final Fantasy Project mod, which I loved, and trying a second one I was pretty much exhausted from that world. There is nothing modders can do to fix the combat thanks to those two mechanics. Will play the second game either way, but naturally I'd love for more replay value.
