Expedition 33 is the rare mid-budget JRPG (yes, JRPG) willing to make choices that feel unapologetically authored. A lot of the “controversial” elements that Indians never shut up about, the theatrical dialogue, heavy emotional swings, and deliberately uneven pacing, actually give the game personality in a genre that often sands everything smooth. Even the combat’s harsher difficulty spikes work in its favor, forcing you to engage with systems instead of sleepwalking through encounters like some of you fags seem to crave.The cast feels earnest rather than focus-tested, and the story commits to its strange melancholy without constantly undercutting itself with irony. It’s messy in places, sure, but memorably messy. I’d rather play something this ambitious and divisive than another technically polished RPG that disappears from my brain a week later. Partially because of my wife Lune.

I chose the Maelle ending. I don't care if the painting world isn't "real". How do you even define that? All these characters clearly have souls.
