If you have the mindset of "modern games suck" it's because you play bad games.Play this right now.
Ogre Battle and all its inheritors are extremely based but cursed to never sell.
It's not a game if the gameplay is automated
>>739826557Pc version?
>>739826557People who say modern games suck either don't play games at all or only play AAA COD or ASSCREED shit. You can safely ignore them. They're the type to say movies suck because they didn't like the latest marvel movie. Total fucking plebs.
>>739826648>>739826660>>739826668JUST PLAY THE GAMEJUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
why this isnt on PC is still baffling, its such a good game and would do extremely well thereretarded company
>>739826557Game just started to drag around Bastorias for me. The beast units felt like gimmic retreads of already existing classes. I wasn't getting enough XP to recruit generic units to get real crazy with the team building between each mission so it was mostly story NPCs in my army. My chosen waifu wasn't a "correct" pick and as such felt very lack luster once I gave her the ring, to the point I almost regret not doing a joke pick with one of the dudes.
>>739826668Shadps4 or EdenYour choice
>>739826557The "modern games suck" crowd are the same people who never touch anime games because they think anime is icky and for pedophiles. They're destined to "grow out of it" and become normalfag sportsball family men, don't stop them.

>>739826872I played it on PC day one if you catch my meaning.
>>739826557UO was kinda just okay for me. It's hard carried by its visuals and waifus because the story is pretty average and the gameplay gets repetitive around the halfway mark without evolving or even ramping up the challenge.
>>739827194yeah i get it, but i think this wouldve done really well, not as well as something like mewgenics, but it captures the same audience i think
>>739827012That’s not true. I play 90% weebslop and I say that.
This is indeed one of my favorite games of all time.
>>739826557>Play this right now.not on pc so I can't
>>739826557>Shit game whose selling point is the anime waifus and the ability to romance themNah; if only UO is a textbook example of why modern Japanese games suck.
>>739827346Yeah I wish they would port them like you wouldn't believe. But I'll do what I have to.
>>739827216>the story is pretty averageoverselling it by a lot. i'd say the story is better described as "bare-bones".
Already beat it, twice even.I'll do a Norbelle run eventually.
>>739827346The failure of Sony's first party games proves that games don't automatically sell better because they're released on PC. It's even worse given how Sony's first party games are still fairly unique due to their high production values; meanwhile PC is already overflooded with 2D games.
ok
>>739826557But I already did.
>>739827808skill issue
>>739829007>"the shield's just for show"
OP is a fag once again
>>739826660menuing is the gameplay
>>739826557An exception doesn't disprove a norm, retard.
>>739826557For me, it's the red big-arsed lioness.>>739827457Not him, but he does have a point. Most people that hate modern games but don't play Japanese/Asian games because of some bullshit actually racist reason or play exclusively older games because they're tasteless tredn-chasing normalfags eventually get burnt out by gaming as a whole just due to how horrible modern AAA gaming is. There are indies, but they're mostly derivative or clones of better older games really.
>>739829278Bad video games aren't the norm. You're just solely playing bad games because you're an ignorant gamer.Your bad choices are your fault. It's literally all your fault.
Which emulator is better for this?
Melisandre of House Meillet, rightful Queen of Cornia.
>>739829367eden worked flawlessly
>>739826557i do have that mindset and i have played that game and i like it. definitely one of my favorites of this decade so far.
>it's because you play bad games.>post the easiest autobattle game ever conceivedis this ironic? watching pretty animation is not GAMEPLAY.
I already did.I don't get why in post-game you can't recruit characters you missed during the story so that you can see their heart events and interactions with others.
>>739829052A pavise isn't a shield used to block melee attacks, it was a movable barricade that archers and arbalists would set into the ground to hide behind while reloading.
>>739826681And people like you will say “they only watch marvel movies” when you slurp up A24 shit. Tell me the new release last movie and game you enjoy or stop talking forever.
>>739829312If you look at it from a distance, games (aka modern) kinda look bad. It's not that modern gaming is bad, though, obviously you'd selectively play good ones (all of 10 of them), making gaming good. It's hard to disagree that gaming is bad when people talk about so many bad games, and those games trend a lot, and furthermore people (for strange reasons) keep talking about those bad games instead of, say, ignoring completely their existence like a chad, in which case I tend to agree but, also, you do talk about bad games a lot.
>>739826557I found this game to be pretty shit desu(mid, but when in rome)For a """strategy""" game, the game sure is brainless. It has its art going for it, but like many other vanilla games, they look and sound great but are as deep as a puddle. At 15 hours I sold my copy.>swap in and out units until I find the groups that can insta kill all the scenario's mobs>click on enemy>winI wanted to love it, but theres fucking nothing there. Seems like a "oh I play real games look at me" game going by online discourse.
>>739826557No seriously, all I want is Dragon's Crown on PC.
>>739829345>redditor who got gaslit into thinking you're supposed to be shitty to people on 4chan
I share the same sentiment as a couple of people in this thread. UO was lacking beyond it's artstyle and some waifus. Easy to break even on True Zenoiran and the general combat did feel pretty sluggish. Story was extremely barebones. 90% of the cast is forgettable and for the ost I honestly can't remember much beyond Drakenhall's theme. My dumbass bought this on release because the demo was good, but really should have waited because the whole experience was just ok.
>>739830682>He cried.The wept.
>>739828208>Sony's first party games are still fairly unique due to their high production valuesLmao
>>739830682>Takes the first shot>Expects to not get shot backYou're the redditor.
>>739827216It was overwhelmingly okay and that's probably just the visuals preventing me from saying "kinda bad." I finished it when it came out and haven't felt even the slightest urge to replay it when I usually replay strategy games at some point. The gameplay felt like it had an illusion of depth.
>>739826557I did. It sucks.
>>739826557Every thread has genuine fans telling me the gameplay and the waifu stuff both suck
>>739826557I wish I was younger and without responsibilities so I could devote all my free time writing fanfic for this. I loved this little world.
>>739831275No, it's not genuine fans. It's shitposters like you that want to change the narrative around this game.>>739831289Based, there is real passion around this world. Like, every little fort has some entry.
>Buy game>Thinking its like Fire Emblem>Its literally Auto Battling + shit story>Holy shit what the fuck is this>Never finish it
Yahna and Virginia are best girls.>>739830189It's definitely an easy game if you know what you're doing. Especially if you're willing to use items like that one that recovers stamina. Off the top of my head, here were some things I think they could have done to improve the game:>Buff capture points. They provide a zone of control that benefits the owner's units in range>More objectives and things to do on a map. Let skills open up shortcuts, help people in need, etc.>Copy other strategy rpgs where defenders on different types of terrain get buffs. E.g: ye olde mountains boost defense>Cut down on non-generics or make it where only non-generics can lead a group. This will also benefit the story because there are just way too many characters
>>739829007>Liza in a unit without MagellanHeresy. As for the game itself, it's beautiful and has fantastic art, and the gameplay is actually fun, up until you realize just how abysmally EASY it is going to be even on the supposedly hardest difficulties, and how trivial and repetitive the gameplay becomes as a result. As much as I absolutely love this game the lack of any real kind of difficulty absolutely kills it, as this is a strategy and tactics game, and an easy game of that ilk is terrible to play. It's even worse that there is no real replayability since they didn't even bother offering a NG+ option where you can start with every unit and go up against min-maxed enemy squads from start to finish. The arena was by far the best part of the game and it's really a shame the main fights weren't anywhere near as interesting as those could be. And even in the Arena you could trivialize with certain combos. Finally, the class balance is terrible, some units like Great Knights are GOD tier and others like Fighter/Vanguard are just utterly mediocre in every way. If they had polished this game a bit more it could've been a true masterpiece but as it is it's just a nice, fun game to play through once to enjoy the beautiful art and world, then forget about it since the difficulty and replayability of the game clock in at 1 or 2 out of 10.
>>739831275I've repeatedly said it's bare-bones, not that it sucks or that it's terrible. It's a "greater than the sum of its parts" situation.
imagine if it was actually on more platforms and wasn't a cakewalkmaybe we could get an actual discussion going on about it
>>739826557>even more braindead than the easiest fire emblem games>yapping yapping yapping yapping yappingFailure as a game and failure as a story. Only the art is good. Genuinely kill yourself if you think Unicorn Overlord is great
>>739831726I think these are all solid points. The sad thing is just that the battlefield tactics didn't feel very impactful which is my favourite part of SRPGs. Of course I can just accept it's a different kind of game and not for me, but it's disappointing anyway.
>>739829871I don't really watch new movies anymore. Eversiege was great and I just bought it a few weeks ago. A24 watchers are better than marvel watchers btw. Not all art is equal.
>>739826557I love my tsundere fox wife
>>739826872>why this isnt on PC is still baffling, its such a good game and would do extremely well there retarded company
>runs out of content 8 hours in>has no plot to speak of to keep you going>somehow still goes on for 20 more hoursworst VW game
>>739833496imo it wasn't long enoughI demand more war
Just because one game was good doesn't mean modern games don't suck
>>739826872I kind of get it, but also if you complain about corporate greed then you can't really complain when a company like VM isn't motivated by pure profit even if it seems misguided. Basically I'm fine with George Kamatani being a boomer if it means they keep making kino games.
>>739833832>company like VMVW*
>>739826557UO is pretty much a VN disguised as a strategy game, and I'm using the word "strategy" pretty loosely here, thanks to the phoned in combat system. You assemble a squad that counters the enemy's team and then click on the auto-resolve button to watch the 5-minute cinematic experience battle animations. The game is really made for gachaniggers.
>Just because one game was good doesn't mean modern games don't suck
>>739827346>yeah i get it, butwait a minute, what? but what? What parasocial shit is this? You can play the game but...you're invested in the company's stocks..from the viewpoint of making PC a respectable platform in the console war? Off yourself.
>>739828208>The failure of Sony's first party games proves that games don't automatically sell better because they're released on PC.Nigger the problem is they only released their gay movie games. Where was Gravity Rush? Where was Bloodbourne? What about Shadow of the Colossus or even The Last Guadian? I don't want to play nu-God of War where I walk down a linear corridor and the game tells me to be a better man.
>>739826557UO sucks, faggot.>braindead easy gameplay>shit writingThe only reason to play it are the sexo characters, but that makes you no different from gachafags and Stellar Blade fags.
>>739830025Fair. In the past, you could blindly choose a game and at the very least it would be reasonably good or if you didn't like it, it wasn't the game's fault and more an issue of it not being to your taste. You can do that if you restrict yourself to niches where there's still a lot of quality titles being made, but I have to admit that most modern games are bad and not even in the entertaining way. Other than for a quick laugh, it's not even worth acknowledging such games even exist. It's the same across all media ecosystems, from music to gaming and television and movies: you have to look into niche genres or old shit to find shit that's actually somewhat good.
>>739836471>In the past, you could blindly choose a game and at the very least it would be reasonably goodNo you couldn't, there were plenty of stinkers in the past too.
You know modern games are worthless when tranime fans are the ones who vehemently "defends" them by shilling abhorrent tranime games
>>739836471You're delusional. I rented new games every weekend of the entire 90s and most of them were pretty ass. However, the gold was truly special.
>>739829312>but don't play Japanese/Asian gamesStop trying to lump in Asia with Japan. China and Korea literally just copy Japanese trends. I suppose Korea was known for MMOs for while, but now run they gachaslop mobile treadmill with China. It's a shame China didn't get into making games a decade earlier. Seems that they really can only copy, and they started copying when FGO and gacha were becoming big. Maybe if they had started back during the ps2 era they could have gotten a soulful video game industry going instead being a nation of gachasloppers
>>739836719I think modern games are cool. I greatly enjoyed Cairn, Endless Legend 2 and HoMM Olden Era. And Songs of Syx is a Factorio-tier masterpiece.
>>739826557I did. It was enjoyable enough that I replayed it multiple times while enacting my own challenge run ideas.
>>739827187This never fails to make me laugh
