I played as Corvo since I thought he was cooler. Corvo's also busted as shit and you can just slow down time and run past everything to complete the mission.

The lead is a woman and the setting is different. It also had really bad technical issues at launch which have been fixed.
Its a fantastic game nowadays and I'd argue is better than the 1st.

Without going into spoilers for either game. In the first game you play as a White man only. In the second one, the White woman is the 'prefered' story character to pick. In the second one, your 'base'e where you go back to most times is captained by a one arm black woman so that's the other problem

The second one is actually better imo.
Also a fair complaint is at launch for about a year, it ran like shit on anything above 'high end' rigs on PC and ran like slop (probably still does) on console

The game's main flaw is the "hub" area (Dreadful Whale) is pretty boring and mediocre without much to do / interact with / NPCs to talk to. Compared to the Hound Pits Pub in the original game it's a pretty massive downgrade.

Otherwise, the actual level design is so much stronger than anything in the original game.

Even the first level where you go to Addermire is really well done, but then a clockwork mansion blows it out of the water, and a crack in the slab (with the "time travel" mechanic) is so good too.

Both Dishonored 1 and 2 are fine, anon
I persoinally found 1 to be quite bad as I expected it to be a bit like thief series and felt the exploration could do with a lot more mechanics for stealth but AI is pretty mad. Two improves it a lot and in two the game is fully designed so you can beat it without using powers (don't fucking do this for either game for your first playthrough)

I would save your runes to get possession level 1 as the first stuff since it lets you get to some places you can't normally by posessing rats and going into small vents

corvo is more powerful and more fun overall for both lethal and non-lethal playstyles due to upgraded bend time and blink pausing time in mid-air
emily has domino which is pretty op and far reach can be fun to throw enemies around but is pretty meh otherwise

What most people have issues with are Death of the Outsider. It's very short, the levels are tiny and they rehash one of the main levels of Dishonored 2 as well. It's pretty lame and how they treat the Outsider people had issues with too. Also what they did with Daud too.

Gameplay is much better. I regularly come back to both dishonoreds at least thrice a year. Play the first one and then the second one and you'll understand what I said regarding the story, it being wokeshit and the atmosphere not being as good.
Second one has vastly better gameplay 100% . The game offers you more non-lethal options which was something people complain regarding the first, new powers are pretty cool. Level design is vastly better. There is one level which is a mansion and it's my favorite one to dick around in.
