AI is pretty cool. Too bad so many fags use it for bad and stupid shit, when it's so handy for so many things. Like recently, my gf and I finished building a garden bed and some other things with wood I scavenged from pallets at work. I know some plants like being near each other and others don't and there's all kinds of complex relationships going on with soil acidity, bug repellent/attractant, etc and it was a bitch figuring out the best way to plant all the seeds and sprouts we had. I asked Claude for some advice, and it just made an interactive map with all kinds of tips and shit I hadn't thought of. I asked ChatGPT the same question, same words, and got mostly the same advice, but Claude was better in this case. I still took the time to double check the info it provided, but everything checked out. Pretty cool, genuine scifi tech.

I think AI is like guns. Super powerful and useful tool, that some cowards want to ban just because some retards do bad stuff with it. Not any different than the Internet itself.

these "AI" are nothing more than programs that create statistically likely strings based on input. They're chatbots. And they hallucinate by design, because this makes them better at imitating real people. That's all they really are, clever mimicry. They don't actually think or believe or feel, they just output strings based on calculated statistics within a context window.

They're non-deterministic by design, which makes them useless for most serious tasks.

Is that what you heard on Twitter? You have a deep misunderstanding of the technology. The chatbots are best at, guess what, chatting and other surface level analysis. When you ask it for something else and get a dumbass response, it's like getting mad that a calculator failed to correct your grammar. You misunderstood and misused the tool.

>>739851398
I don't really know or care about the profitability of it, I just think it's cool and can be very useful, when used properly. Already it's solved a number of problems, like a particular question with protein folding people have been working on for 60 something years. People keep going to generalist tools, that are free, and getting mad when they don't function like a purpose specific tool. These things can become very good at whatever you teach them. Sure, they're not capable of true creativity, but they can figure out ways to put things together that nobody has done before.

Nvidia ARM CPU + Nvidia iGPU for notebooks. Windows is on it because the notebooks will have Windows 11.

The only thing that Nvidia's was missing was being able to offer a CPU + GPU solution, like AMD and Intel. Now that's no longer an issue.

We just talked about a specific example of what it does, which wasn't even something it was made to do. Aside from that, specifically trained AIs are already serving as useful custom wikis basically but with better understanding of complex questions and problems. I work for a large company that builds and maintains certain types of machines in more than half the countries in the world (not datacenters or anything else AI related) and they set up an AI trained specifically on the hardware and software we use, which is very very useful when you're trying to figure out if this specific piece of hardware from 1997 can communicate with this other bit from 2021 using a software platform updated last month or whatever. Sure you could figure it out through trial and error, or just digging through old manuals but half of that stuff is obsolete now, but the specially trained AI is genuinely incredibly useful.

If you're asking specialist questions to ChatGPT or whatever and then getting mad that the answer is subpar, that's on you. You do not understand this technology or how to use it, and you're upset about it. You're a boomer getting mad about TV and violent video games.

If you REALLY don't know how to do something, these things mislead people all the time. You kind of have to already kinda know what you're doing anyway and then it can act as a better google, because if you're totally incapable of fact-checking these things, they will just lie lie lie. Their programming tells them to always give you an answer no matter what, and if that means giving you a wrong answer then that's fine, because it's still an answer.
