Was it a good sequel?
>>
>>739846759
dunno, havent played it yet
i really liked the first one but also i never want to play it again
>>
>>739846759
It was okay, though I liked OTR better.
Also reminds me Case O was a thing and did what MGSV Ground Zeroes did several years earlier.
>>
after being memed into playing OTR, I found DR2 vanilla to be quite enjoyable. playing both originals on PC is a real treat with locked 60 FPS minimum instead of the constant frame drops on 7th gen consoles.
>>
Yeah, kept true to the spirit of the original, added some fun things. Wasn't mind blowing but it wasn't a disaster like 3+ are

The Canucks did a good job but it's not as good as the first game. Ted and Sgt Boykin should've been saveable psychopaths. Also FUCK the roof snipers

SEND YOU WIFE TO ME TENT FOR SOME BODY RUBS
Also, this. Capcom lost the source code for the first for some retarded reason, and that basically doomed the sequel from ever surpassing the first in terms of zombie count and optimization. After playing 1, being used to N64 and PS2 levels of shit on screen and interactivity with the environment, the 2nd one felt very flaccid in comparison. Not to say that it's a bad game, as I still got my money's worth just by dicking around the mall and never really trying with the main story, but it doesn't have the same grit or horror as the first. Which, hey, if you like it, you like it. But for me, it makes it incredibly hard to get invested in the story and these characters if you start the game with zombie-gameshows where you're mowing them down on a motorcycle.
>>
No both 1 and 2 were shit because of the timed missions
3 was way better and more of the sandbox both games shouldve been

It was a good sequel. Not amazing but good. If you liked the first game, you would almost certainly enjoy the 2nd. It's just more of the same but slightly expanded, exactly what a safe sequel should be. 3 is when the series nosedived off a cliff

Superficially, you could be mistaken into thinking it's a good sequel. It seems like a standard "bigger and better" kinda sequel.
But the gamefeel is a massive downgrade. The first game was made by Japanese action game vets, and 2 was made by fucking leafs.
The combo weapons are also a poison pill. They're neat at first, but you feel stuck using them because items off the ground do fuck all damage to bosses and usually take more than one hit to kill a regular zombie, and your experience gains are fucked if you don't use combo weapons.
You just load up your inventory with spike bats since they're right outside the safe house.
>>
No. It is okay but Dead Rising is the greatest game Capcom has ever released. A 7/10 sequel will of course be disappointing.

No, retard. You think the 2016 port of DR1 was reverse engineered from scratch?
Capcom simply never made English documentation for the MT Framework engine. I think the only time they even offered to do it for a western studio was for DmC, and they declined to make Unreal slop instead.

managed to feel faithful to the original and the survivors are way more manageable. combo weapons were a great addition and feel incredibly satisfying to use. chuck is a great successor to frank who's entertaining in his own unique way. that being said the gameplay in DR1 just feels better. chuck always felt sluggish in comparison to frank, and while chuck did have some fun moves you can't beat frank's toolkit in DR1. losing the camera was also a bummer.

No. It was a good game, but a meh sequel. Played it super safe, didn't do enough new, and was a bit questionable in how new qol did drain some of the soul, but not enough to be outright an issue

Dead Rising 3 was actually the fantastic sequel, that did new things and made genuine strides to expand on the game while keeping its identifiable spirit, but it stumbled way too much in execution and fumbled major pieces like the timer to be an overall good game.

From a critical standpoint, it's all very fascinating
>>
>>739846759
Yes. It's exactly what a sequel should be.
>>
>>739855096
No it didnt and is that supposed to be a good thing?
>>
>>739850656
That isn't even the best RE game.
>>
>>739846759
I like it more than DR1 but it has it's issues and I can accept and understand why more people like DR1 more.
I personally think Chuck and his daughter make a really compelling reason to search the mall and engage more in everything that's going on. Chuck being an active player in the story and needing to confirm his innocence is also another great push to try to get you to actually play the story while not actively forcing you to.
>>
>>739856626
Maybe 3 did things that were technically new for the series itself, but the whole time I played it, it felt like I was playing a Ubisoft game.
>>
>>739846759
Better than OTR, which completely character assassinated Frank

No, it's too combo weapon focused, and Off the Record is my midwit check, because anybody who likes this crass rerelease is a moron in my books. Of course Dead Rising 4 sucks, but I can only take you seriously if you can see why OTR is bad.

DR2 is the better game, DR1 is the better experience.
DR1 is happy to deliberately fuck with the player with things like Otis's calls, purposely shit survivor AI, the respawning prisoners, ending the game with a fistfight. In a game that is all about picking up whatever you can, they force you into a bare handed fistfight.
DR2 "fixes" these issues, and while it feels better to play, it feels lesser because of it.
>>
>>739846759
It’s better than the original, but /v/ is full of people who consider the original a part of their identity because they played it on the 360 o algo. Shits pretty gay.
>>
>>739858767
>Dead Rising 1 is about using whatever is available to you (I remember beating Carlito with a cardboard box once because I just had nothing else)
>Dead Rising 2 is about using boxing gloves with knives to win everything
>>
>>739858767
Other than the survivor AI, what does it do better than the OG?

I liked it. The celldweller OST was a guilty pleasure for me.

Every time I see this game now, all I can think about is that one DR2 YouTuber STiP0 who went on an autism meltdown when the remake released because he didn't get access to the game like a day early. He deleted all the videos on his channel and claimed to be done. Legendary crash out.

I saw recently he was back at it so that didn't last kek.

There's a couple of people who make Bully content that would do the exact same thing if that happened with Bully 2
