We must be in the end times if people think this game's combat was clunky and inaccessible
>this game is 11 years oldi wan 2 dei
unpopular opinion: the witcher 2 has the best combat system in the series and 3 was a downgrade /v/ disagrees so I am automatically right
>>739850848>inaccessible ??? >clunky Absolutely. Its floaty, magnetizing garbage that wrestles any kind of nuanced control away from the player
>>739850848In comparison to the games it's trying to copy, like Batman Arkham, it's literal dogwater.
>>739850848i dont get all the fuss about the combat system, the main thing about the game is obviously the fucking story
>>739850848People here like all kinds of gay shit but harp on about W3 combat because it's popular and they have to have a critical take on the game to signal their "taste"
>game asks you to frequently manage potions and toxicity, equip bombs, oils, etc., eat food>slowest most dogshit inventory ui in the entire serieswhat were they thinking
>>739850848This entire genre of combat sucks shit, it sucked when asscreed did it, it sucked when bamham did it, it sucked when spiderman did it, every game that has it is automatically bad.
>>739850848It's not great, you learn pretty early on whats effective and use that for 99% of the game and from memory I just spammed heavy attacks and kept the shield spell on. Playing monster detective was more fun than slaying them
>>739851574It has some depth. like if you research monsters you can do special counters like cutting the tongue of a hag if you time it right
>>739856259I've genuinely completed this game like 4 times, a couple of them completing every single sidequest and I never knew you could do that.
Adding in Crafting to Witcher 2 was a mistake which they stubbornly carried over in to Witcher 3.the only crafting ever should've been mixing potions & oils--carrying around all the rest of that shit, tons of lumber & ore, was ALWAYS stupid.Witcher 1 had the most elegant economy of the Witcher trilogy. Each chapter had a certain amount of coin in it and you had to do everything to scrape up the coin. Some coin to spend on vodka & reagants. A lot of coin to buy better armor.New swords? Cost a piece of ore, which was hidden somewhere in the chapter (usually around a Contract target.) yes Geralt picked up SOME ore but he didn't carry an entire damn mine around on his back.
>>739850848Not clunky, just boring
>>739851574>floaty, magnetizing garbage that wrestles any kind of nuanced control away from the player>meanwhile, /v/s favorite game of all timeTHE WIND IS PUSHING MEWHEREVER THE FUCK IT WANTSHIT THE WRONG GUY AGAINSIMPLE AS 1, 2, 3WE KILL OURSELVES IN THE ENDWE ARE THE DANGAAAAAAN
>>739852787the combat is completely fine. 1 had painfully stupid combat, but i applaud them trying something new. 2s combat was trying to make an action game, but still keeping invisible dnd dice combat so your hits weren't actually any of geralts funny spins and stabs, it was actually a dice roll on the bottom left of your screen that cast an attack from your body. it's why half your deaths are an enemy just standing there. his attack animation failed, but his attack hitbox didn't. and 3 is literally just that again, but less shitty. all in all, it took them 3 games to get basic combat alright. hitting things feels good, and that's fine.
