Just finished Elden Ring and I genuinely think it’s one of the greatest games I’ve ever played.

Not because it’s flawless. Not because it’s the hardest game ever made. But because it reminded me why I fell in love with video games in the first place.

The sense of discovery is unreal. Every time I thought I’d seen everything, the game opened up another underground city, another hidden questline, another region the size of an entire game. I spent the whole playthrough wondering what was over the next hill, and somehow the answer was always something incredible.

The boss fights felt like actual accomplishments. The world felt ancient, mysterious, and indifferent to my existence. There are very few games that make exploration feel this rewarding.

I ended up getting the Age of Stars ending and just sat there through the credits thinking about everything I’d seen. Nokron. Leyndell. Farum Azula. The Haligtree. Ranni’s questline. It felt like a journey in a way most open-world games don’t.

I know people joke that FromSoftware fans never stop talking about these games, but after finally finishing it, I get it.

10 years from now people are still going to be talking about Elden Ring the same way people talk about Ocarina of Time, Metal Gear Solid, Armored Core 6 or Final Fantasy.

Absolute masterpiece.

Wouldn’t have traded any of it, loved every second, even the times I failed. I’ll never forget this game.

Far too long and bloated. From doing an open world was a mistake.

Stop trying to make me play it again, I have 800 hours in it.
I promised that my next playthrough will be after Fromsoft's next single player soulslike.
>>
Didn’t read but I hope you play the DLC because it’s like Elden Ring 1.5, I think it’s on par with the base game’s quality both good and bad. I’ve only finished it twice though while I’ve finished the base game 19 times, I usually just go into it to get items. But Mohg and the “first” DLC boss are back to back and they’re my favorite fights in the game.

Its pretty fun digging through the lore, then the DLC ruined it. I pretend the DLC story doesn't exist.

Most of which is optional

as a first time fromsoft player, great game but the lore isn't that good.
>>
>>739856214
that's probably your first from software game then
as someone who started playing them back with dark souls it's pretty disappointing how little they moved forward since then, in some cases even backwards, as elden ring has considerably worse world and level design

>Elden Ring has bad world design
Objectively and actually false

objectively and actually true if you are not a braindead retard and elden ring isn't your first souls game
pic related is inexcusable
you go all the way through volcano manor just to take a teleporter to the boss because they didn't mind connecting it to the world
you go through the consecrated snowfield to find the secret entrance to haligtree and it's another teleporter
and all the other ones in the world, for the same lazy reason, because soulless mindless pigs like you will slop it up

Leyndell itself is one of the greatest things ever made in modern media

What exactly did the DLC ruin lore wise? I personally thought the explication of the fingers was great and interesting, the hornsent and shamans was an interesting expansion and added a sense of further pathos to Marika's story, Bayle adds a further sense of gravitas to Placidusax and the drakes, The bloodfiends and their connection to the Formless Mother was cool, The lore about the curseblades is neat, the only thing I'm iffy about was how they treated Miquella and St Trina's story but I don't think it's particularly bad either.

Now try playing your second video game.

Yeah but Radhan returned so DLC bad.
>>
>>739856214
It's just Dark Souls but worse in pretty much every way.
>>
>>739856214
Dark Souls will always hold a special place in my heart and I still consider it my favorite souls game and one of my favorite games of all time. But Elden Ring was also extremely good. It's the only open world game I've played, and enjoyed, since Fallout New Vegas. I usually despise open world games, but Elden Ring, despite its flaws, actually made me feel a sense of wonder while exploring the open world, at least before the veil got lifted. Shadow of the Erdtree is the best souls DLC of all time, has the best level design, best bosses (except Radahn, horrible fight) and best use of the open world.

>What exactly did the DLC ruin lore wise?
Miquella abandons his flesh twice.
Ranni's black magic murder ritual happened for no reason since Miquella could do exactly the same thing on whim.
Miquella's sibling obsession getting retconned from Godwyn to Radahn.

Pretty much everything involving Miquella is pure trash.

>Miquella abandons his flesh twice.
He doesn't
>Ranni's black magic murder ritual happened for no reason since Miquella could do exactly the same thing on whim.
Miquella had to walk an ascetic path devoiding himself of any will except for his compassion, Ranni didn't want to end up that way and probably didn't even know she could do that.
>Miquella's sibling obsession getting retconned from Godwyn to Radahn.
He was never obsessed with Godwyn.
