Is arcades a dying business?
How can it become mainstream again?

Everything that requires being in person is dying as a business
Futuristic dystopia is turning all into The Matrix
>>
Is?
My man they've already died
>>
rent is too high, you can't make enough from arcades unless you turn it into a bar
>>
perhaps they could feature a tasteful selection of WEG machines?

mobile/gacha games took their place
>>
From what I understand, there's basically no current way to get into the business at a local level. Arcade manufacturers only sell machines in bulk. So you either need to have an established franchise to distribute all those machines around, or have your single location dedicated to 10 cabinets of the same game.

Businesses like this can't exist anymore
>Commercial rent in major cities is too expensive
>You have sell a shit load of day passes to get in the green, so you have to offer other products with higher margins, usually alcohol
>Most cities also have very expensive liquor licenses now due to lobbying to stop competition from small businesses
>Niggers, mexicans, Indians, muslims, and homeless people will do everything they can to destroy your business

The 'free play' approach where you pay once and get to play games all day worked fine here until covid hit.
Bigger issue is most relevant cabinets are 40-50 years old at this point. Upkeeping an maintaining them requires a very passionate person with a lot of disposable income.
There's the other problem mentioned here >>739857220, which is that 'third spaces' in general are basically going extinct.
