>silent hill demake 2 has sold over 6 million

Classic Silent Hill bros.... is it over? The filthy casuals love the new Silent Hill. We will never get survival horror kino ever again....
>>
Oh no, not filthy casuals invading the genre EXCLUSIVELY enjoyed by filthy casuals even 25 years ago...
>>
Oy vey, not the six million sales...
>>
The shilling clearly worked. It has now far outsold the original game by nearly 3 times over. I wonder if it will reach 10 million sales by the end of the year or next year.

>A Silent Hill game outsold the newest Bungie FPS game with over 3 times
Imagine someone telling you this in 2016.
>>
>>739863421
It's been over since 4. Just let it go.
>>
>silent hill homecoming 2 sold well and people praised it
man what a shitty timeline
>>
>>739863421
Silent hill was always a niche thing it’s amazing that it’s getting the recognition it deserves
>>
>>739865112
Marathon's art design is seriously fucking ugly. Not in a good way where you can enjoy creepy iconic monster designs like with Silent Hill but ugly in a way that Marathon looks way too weird and confusing. I am not surprised nobody took the bait on Bungie's latest shitshow.
>>
>>739863421
Yes, that is what happens when something that was praised and highly regarded but is over 20 years old comes out so fans who have never played it, and didn't have the wherewithal or confidence to emulate, can finally acquire it.

Don't want demakes to do well? Then stop praising the games you like and it will not generate interest in normies who insist they love the game years down the line and are excited to finally get a chance to play it.
>>
>>739863421
It's better than the original in most ways, cope seethe and dilate
>>
>>739865112
I feel like horror games are way more popular and mainstream now than they used to be. Maybe it's the zoomer trend of watching like Markiplier or whoever the fuck letsplay of all these different series that's kind of brought them to the forefront.
>>
The SH2 remake is one of the best remakes of all time. Autism be damned.
>>
>>739865182
All those video essays over the years glazing the game clearly worked as free advertising. Now the series is the biggest its ever been and Bloopers next demake is obviously going to sell well since the most popular game of the series has just sold well with its demake. Konami was wise then to gamble on bringing this franchise back. Sucks it has to be with shitty Americanized REmake clones but here we are.
>>
>>739865182
>niche thing
1-3 were one of the most popular games on the systems and it got a bunch of hollywood movies as well. It's one of the most mainstream horror franchises there is.

Remake culture is never going to die. The gaming industry will have to crash before that happens and this won't happen because it will just be propped up on game remakes, GTA6, and that 1% of gaas games that actually do succeed. This industry won't die. It will just downsize with only the cream of the crop selling anything as well as indies. Remakes are now an even safer bet for a company to make money than a sequel itself.

Bloober is a polish dev team I don’t know if it’s bait but damn the game was fine they even brought back Akira Yamaoka. Im sure the first will sell well but for me it was nice to see the effort they put in. I didn’t want to play the same game twice and they certainly nailed it. One thing is that it’s missing content in the form of the DLC born from a wish.
>>
>>739865348
The only things I'd 100% agree are worse in the remake is the lighting and cutscene direction. Everything else is great
>>
>>739863421
it's really not that bad and this board needs to finally accept this and move on already
it's scarier, more immersive, but not as artistically compelling as the original, and the combat is too one-note for the length. it shouldn't exist, but it does, and it's at least a competent game
>>
>>739865353
>demake demake demake demake demake
A bot would more capable of nuance than you. I'd bet good money you haven't even played it.
>>
>>739865338
>Maybe it's the zoomer trend of watching like Markiplier or whoever the fuck letsplay of all these different series that's kind of brought them to the forefront.
More or less, spooky games were big with the kids for a while and now they want to see what the genre had to offer before their time.
Just sucks they're stuck playing remakes since most of them don't know how to pirate shit.

It was always second to Resident Evil franchise. I think when most people think of a horror game those come to mind. Also the real niche of Silent hill was 4 because of how divided people were. I loved it many didnt consider it a silent hill game. On the aspect of the movies aside from like one they were just awful I don’t even care to see them.
>>
>>739865408
3 sold under 1 million copies actually. Its one of the most under performing series out there despite how popular or rather talked about and watched they actually were. This is why the series had any popularity. More people talked about and watched it then actually bought and played them.
>>
>>739865348
Its awful and missed the point entirely
>>
>>739865536
Doesn't matter if they are Polish. They still made the game with a westernized mindset in mind.
>>
>>739865795
I knew about silent hill games for a while reading game informer and visiting game review sites back in the bad but I never got around to wanting to buy it and play it. It was only around seven years ago that I became more interested in the franchise because I became to consume horror related content. I feel like most people today either emulate it or watch YouTube videos of the game so it’s much more popular despite not being so back in the day, in 2001 when the game released I was playing stuff like halo, cs1.6 and quake instead.
>>
>>739865667
>since most of them don't know how to pirate shit.
Its not this. They just do not want to pirate nor play an old game.
>>
>>739865953
What is western I don’t even know. The new silent hill game made by a Chinese dev sucks despite being hyped more.
>>
>>739863421
Dang, how did F do?
>>
>>739865353
When I saw the remake fans making up bullshit based on the remake, I knew it's infested by normalfaggots who had only ever watched those garbage video essays.
>>
>>739866072
Konami announced 2 million sales a couple weeks ago.
>>
That's fucking bullshit. No way it has sold that much. Holy shit people will believe anything in this trash site.
>>
>>739866392
Yeah it's weird, last year SH2R was 2M sold and now surpassed 6 million players.
Also notice how the use "players" instead of sold this time.

They say why they used players instead of sales
>>
>>739866679
>subscription services
Of course lol
>>
>>739866679
So then the demake sold much less than 6 gorillion?
>>
>>739869265
last reported sales numbers are 2.5 million last October
