Didn't play the demo, was never interested when I saw it because I don't like Zelda games (played many of them but always got bored), I did not know it was also a souls-like somehow? or whatever. All the indies have moved on from 8-bit era "tributes" with UFO50 being pretty much the only recent hit because it actually stayed simple while also providing a ton of variety, even low budget indies that aren't horror slop are at the late PS1/early PS2 stage. i also thought mina's design was boring I guessits not a game that should have taken 6 years to make, at best something to churn out in 1.5-2 years to test the waters and trying to diversify yacht club's team and portfolio instead of betting everything on it and thus putting in too much money and work to create an overly tight knit experience out of something few people would have wanted or cared for. of course, trends come and go and its impossible to predict them perfectly but some passions are better left to fizzle out than to burn and disappoint

You attack when your buddy/summon/spirit ash is being targeted and you dodge when the aggro is on you, Nightreign even makes this aspect of the AI a part of the HUD, the game shows you when it's your turn to dodge.So either you play solo and you deal with anime combos for the bosses or you play "using the mechanics" and the game plays itself. It's shit.In Mina you use the several mechanics to turn specific tides in your favor. If you're struggling with a platforming part you equip the trinket that lets you heal without plasma and also gives you more heals, if you're aiming for a purchase you equip the one that boosts bones, different subweapons can trivialize different challenges, and you can buy an upgrade that makes subweapons persist on death.
