it wouldn't be isometric either way. the initial fallout 3 was going to be 3d. at least that one would still be an rpg though
>>
Nah, Interplay ruined Fallout after firing Tim Caine.
>>
>>739872080
Yeah you're right, Bethesda didn't ruin Fallout at all. That's why there's so many people who explain in objective terms what makes FO3-4-76 so great!
Oh wait, to date nobody can explain something as simple as what the fuck they eat or drink in FO3.

Everyone says that the gunplay in 4 is a massive step up but I just don't feel it.
Sure it's smoother but all the satisfaction of 3 and NVs shooting just isn't there, probably because the gore system is complete shit and all the sounds are fucking horrible.
Everything feels like I'm pelting people with nerf darts until they just fall over.
>>
Why americans love violence? Why they want to beat up kids so much?

Hypothetically could, realistically would choke going up the first hill, have a horrible time trying to get moving, handle like shit, and breaking from highway speeds would take miles.
That's assuming the trailer doesn't just fall apart under the weight.
>>
>>739872403
the satisfaction lies in the enemies actually using cover and being a little smarter. In survival I even found myself actually using and peeking out of cover instead of running around blindly and spamming stimpacks
3 and NV's gunplay involves enemies rushing at you (with the exact same stiff shouldered action figure posture) in order to stand 3 ft away from you and unload while doing that goofy frowny face. The copy pasted vault hallways dont help either.

FO4 AI are about 10% smarter than FO3/NV AI.
And the aiming system is objectively smoother.
But it's all pointless because FO4 NPC stats are arbitrary, and the weapon balance is total dogshit.
Yeah sure, go ahead and spend the next 10 fucking minutes landing headshot after headshot with the .50 hunting rifle.

Suuure it is. Canterbury Commons is the trading hub of the Capital Wasteland, it is situated on the east side, rather than the center, and so likely trades with other locations further east.

The entire Capital Wasteland area is less than 3x3 grid squares in the classic games. That there could be an expanded trade beyond the scope of the game is well feasible within the setting.

Export guns. Capital Wasteland has a far, FAR greater saturation of raiders and super mutants than the classics. Imagine getting encounters several times before managing to move through a single grid square.

>where do they get their guns?
DC was heavily militarized before the war. There's plenty left for them to dig up.

>what do they eat?
people. Raiders and super mutants eat people.

And wildlife, I guess.

>>

Capital wasteland does not produce guns, there is not a single gun factory or evidence of home-made firearms with the exception of the dart gun, rock-it-launcher, etc.
Except nobody in the whole game uses those.

Todd just wrote the dumbest setting imaginable, a 200 years-dead-biosphere because he has no idea how simple concepts like the WATER CYCLE works.
Canonically it has not rained in the entire DC area for TWO HUNDRED YEARS
>>
>>739872080
That is objectively correct. Bethesda raped and murdered fallout. It could've stayed a niche old CRPG series for white nerds, but Todd turned it into basic, shallow open-world garbage for normalfags, women, console niggers and other non-gamers with low IQ and zero standards.
>>
>>739875959
None of the canon lore of FO1-2 or fucking especially NV, make any sense whatsoever if you nitpick it to this degree. This is not legitimate critique, it never was, it's just Bethesda derangement syndrome. If you applied the same extremist standards of realism that these wackjobs apply exclusively to the Bethesda games, the series would never have achieved any semblance of relevance whatsoever
>>
>>739876093
FO1-2 isn't about the entire area having a famine and you see them farming you retard. They have wells, they grow food.
FO3 claims they have been starving and had no water for TWO HUNDRED FUCKING YEARS (that's almost ten generations) and yet everyone is in perfect health.
>>
>>739876093
The only "bethesda derangement syndrome" is one that leads someone to agressively defend this garbage , cancerous company that NEVER made any good games and only negatively contributed to gaming as a whole.
>>
>>739875959
They have water. Megaton has a water purifier that drains from the water table which is located at the center of the crater.

Presumably Rivet city has one as well but it doesn't get representation or pointed out since there's no troubles with it. Likely behind one of those [Inaccessible] doors.

Anyway, bet you were happy when Fallout 4 included farms and purifiers.
>>
>>739876394
Megaton has a failing water system and seemingly nobody gives a shit about the huge leaking pipes around town.
It also does not explain how everyone else gets water, given that it's all radioactive (water can't actually get irradiated but whatever) and will kill you.

Fallout 3, New Vegas, 4, 76, etc, should've been a separate IP doing whatever they do, instead of stapling Bethesda-isms and shit combat onto a series that got gutted of basically everything but the lore and themes. You can still have your shooty shooty bang bang RPGs, but it ain't really Fallout.
>>
It wasn’t ruined because it’s 3D it was ruined because Fallout 3 was basically just a glorified reboot that didn’t make any sense and recycled old Fallout elements for signage without any thought for coherence
>>
>>739872080
They saved fallout and improved upon it immensely.

>>
>>739876456
Well according to New Vegas, all you need to purify irradiated water is a couple glass pitchers, some tubing and a campfire.

Boy, that must've made you mad when you saw that.

Right?
>>
>>739876531
Being real in the big '26 Fallout was never really all that good or all that deep in the first place, let's be real. Yeah it was no real grand, artistic statement, it was never anything profound, just another generic 90s CRPG. And Bethesda snatching up the IP is more than it ever deserved, tee bee haytch
>>
>>739876456
In that case, it's called "dirty water" not "irradiated water". It's likely that it's the dirt and other particles that's irradiated. Though that radiation probably should've been cleared up by now.
>>
>>739876596
No? Because frankly that is how you would do it, to get all the radioactive sediment out of it.
>>
>>739876724
Well now you know how people purified their water without mass purifiers.

Honestly...
>>
>>739876782
Except nobody does that in FO3, not a single person makes a water distillery, etc.
You're making fanon to explain shitty worldbuilding.
>>
>>739876548
I’ll give an example, the Enclave in Fallout 3 literally made no sense at all.

In Megaton there is an Eyebot around spewing propaganda about bringing baseball back and there’s an NPC who is pro-Enclave. But why? We don’t see any Enclave settlements for example, or the Enclave doing any outreach programs to attract settlers

This is a problem because later in the game, Eden gives you an offer to basically poison the water supply even though you have no reason to do this. Autumn is apparently against this idea and want people to “flock” to the Enclave

But neither Autumn nor the Enclave ever make any effort to create or attract settlers. For example, why didn’t Autumn just offer to pay James for Project Purity, then when James refuses, asks you to convince him, while giving you a tour of an Enclave settlement? Instead he acts cartoonishly evil and kills a scientist for basically no reason other than to show he’s evil. Generally speaking if Autumn actually cared about PR executing people at random is not a good way to go about it.

In Fallout 2 the Enclave were clearly evil. But they also had a clear goal and narrative purpose. They mostly kept themselves hidden and the rest of the wasteland were mostly afraid of them. By the end they clearly “hate mutants” so they want to poison the air. They didn’t care about PR and executed whoever got in their way.

But in Fallout 3 the Enclave is a confused mess. Do they hate mutants or not? If they do, then Autumn’s plans and actions make no sense, he says he wants more people to go to the Enclave but they are all mutants according to the Enclave. If they don’t then Eden’s plan makes no sense. The actual Enclave in-game don’t behave like the Enclave claimed to exist in Megaton, or how Autumn wants them to be, they just shoot people up
>>
>>739872080
People are afraid to admit that Peter was completely justified here
>>
>>739876556
>They saved fallout
Without Bethesda, Amazon would never pick up Fallout to rape it even harder.
>>
>>739876868
The Enclave aren't even particularly villainous in FO3, with the exception of Eden, but the Enclave doesn't even want to do his plan anyways.
>BWAHAHHAHAHA! WE ARE GOING TO MAKE UNLIMITED WATER FOR THE CAPITAL WASTELAND AND MAKE THE WASTELANDERS OFFICIAL US CITIZENS!
Uhhhh, and these are the bad guys???
>>
>>739876823
Oh yeah, extrapolating from incomplete information is fun.

It's like caps being back in New Vegas. People were shitting their pants about it not being explained in Fallout 3 but you think they were seething about it when playing New Vegas before meeting McLafferty? No, of course not. They came to their own conclusions for why they were back and those conclusions would've turned out to be absolutely correct because they were so damn obvious.

But they'd only extend such a courtesy to games/companies they like.

Or to use an example that isn't explained: why do casinos in New Vegas accept Legion coins? You know why, it is never explained in game but you know. It is fanon but it is likely correct.
>>
>>739877048
Why are caps being used near The Hub, but outside of NCR a bad idea? It makes perfect sense.
Casinos take legion currency at a reduced rate, they're still made out of gold and silver you know.
Todd, don't you have Fallout 5 to work on or something?
>>
>umm we don't need RPG elements, we just need to run around and shoot people
Ok fair enough, why do you people hate Starfield then? That's a way better looter shooter than Fallout 3-4, and it's still a shit RPG but apparently you guys don't care
>>
>>739877108
Because Starfield is a really dogshit looter shooter too.
In order to get competitive loot, it only drops on end-dungeon bosses and chests, but only still like a 5% chance to drop.
But then the item itself has it's own rolls and item types so if you want 'that' specific gun?
Maybe a 1/2000 chance to get it. Fuck that.
>>
>>739877081
Exactly.

Really, these people hating on Bethesda for things that are simply unsaid while glazing Obsidian are so fucking annoying.
>>
>>739876868
Another example is the Supermutants. In 1 and 2 the Supermutants had a purpose and/or a goal, they weren’t just enemies to shoot.

In 3, the problem isn’t necessarily that the mutants are just dumb, it’s that they are just green bandits. They exist only to get shot. The first game many of them weren’t smart but there was a reason why they did what they did, they believed they were creating a master race. In 2 some of the mutants survived, spent years wandering the wastes, grew wiser and wanted to create their own settlement

3 doesn’t actually do anything meaningful with the mutants other than just shoving them in the game because it’s a Fallout property. NV actually does expand on them, the dumber mutants are being manipulated by Tabitha, other mutants gather at Jacobstown, the Nightkin aren’t just mindless brutes in Come Fly With Me they came to the facility only to get a shipment of stealth boys and things went south, their leader is even willing to talk to you and resolve things peacefully if you don’t kill too many of them. The mutants all have a purpose. In 3 they just eat people and live near children for some reason
>>
>>739876868
None of the New Vegas plot makes a lick of sense if you even sit and think about it for 2 seconds
>b-b-but muh tired Hbomberguy talking points. Hbomberguy laid out in his video essay how FO3 has plotholes, and that guy also said NV is a masterpiece, so he's unimpeachably right and FO3 is unimpeachably wrong and bad and full of plot holes, or whatever
>ignore the fact Caesar's legion are a bunch of monkeys in football suits that the NCR could easily roll over whenever they want.
>Ignore the fact that all the NV DLCs completely destroy all semblance of realism in the world. That just doesn't matter, cause Avellone drew it up or somethin
>>
>>739872726
Highways were designed for fighter jets to land on and tanks to be transported, its too tall
>>
>>739877237
Fallout 3 mutants are doing what every species is doing, trying to multiply, which they do by capturing humans to dip in the vats. Also they need more FEV so they're kinda on the search for their own waters of life.

A race of Masterless war monsters. Though these ones never had a Master and are clearly of a more violent strain. But still, yes, on the player end they're just big green bandits.

Besides that, Strong is a much better companion than Marcus. I'm sure if they switched games and kept all their lines, Strong would be the most popular companion in Fallout 2 and Marcus would be "muh noble super mutant".
>>
>>739877751
So instead of being green bandits the Supermutants are green wolves, got it
>>
>>739877863
*with guns

>>739877863

I wish Goris was actually practical to bring with you in FO2.
He just gets shredded far too rapidly.
Would've been cool if we could implant combat armor in him like how the player can get buffed up.

Thread is jerking off FO3-4-76
Which is only done by ragebaiters and legitimate retards. Neither should get attention.

>Bethesda will never bring the Midwest brotherhood back

I hate this so much. I hate how they turned the east coast brotherhood into a dollar store knock off of the Midwest BOS by making them expansionist and fly in airships. I hate how the Midwest BOS never had a reckoning with the original California chapter before the NCR chucked them to death. I hate how the nu-BOS will never but heads with the Midwest and have to cope and seethe at a successful military dictatorship with massive territory mogging their pathetic efforts that even a bunch of wastelanders with civil war mortars can fuck up. I hate that because nothing is allowed to grow or develop in this setting we'll never get to see a stable nation form out of the Midwest. By all rights, by the end of tactics the Midwest BOS (even without the calculator) should be the major player in the US post-war and well on their way to reforming a civilization beyond even what the NCR was up to

My dream fallout game? A conflict between the Midwest and the east coast, maybe both sides are rushing to find some super tech or something, and the player character is an agent from the original BOS sent to monitor or intervene. You could keep your alligence on the downlow, infiltrating either side with your BOS knowledge but being wary of where their culture has changed to the point you'd exposed yourself. Or, go in openly about your origins and handle the resentment or distrust of the people your chapter exiled.

I think Fallout 3/NV/4 pretty much indirectly implies that the midwest bos has declined to irrelevance since they are barely mentioned in 3 and straight up not mentioned at all in New Vegas and 4.

Fallout 1 sucks. I left the shelter, traveled to the middle of the desert then I fucking died. Boomers need to stop clinging to the past and play Fallout 76, the better Fallout 4.

I still dislike how they got embarrassed about the Wannamingos being Xenomorph heads with legs, so they tried to retcon them out of all future installments.
>Oh uhm uhhhh they're actually dying out! That's why they are never seen again!
Bull fucking shit, they have shitloads of eggs, a queen, and they are ALL OVER THE PLACE! Hell they're nasty enough to rip deathclaws apart with sufficient numbers too!
Just admit you have your head up your ass and you're embarrassed over a perfectly reasonable addition which you did to FO2.

Is Scott Campbell ever mentioned in the Fallout bible? He created a significant portion of the lore and story for Fallout 1 so I feel like he should show up a ton, just as much as Tim Cain, Chris Taylor, and Leonard Boyarsky.

Happened on my first attempt as well.
>leave vault
>walk a bit
>you are now surrounded by raiders
>umm, I run?
>get gunned down

Second attempt I got an encounter that had a BB Gun that 2 shot super mutants and it carried me through the whole game.

Game is pretty bullshit.

>Because trains are for faggots and third worlders.
the fuck is this even supposed to mean?
Trains are possibly one of the best means of transportation when it comes to speed, cost and immediacy, they have all the luxuries of a hotel and you're not bound to your seat for the entire ride, there's restaurants inside, beds, the ride is incredibly smooth and it all costs a fraction of a plane ticket. The range isn't as great as a plane's, but within a country, it's incredibly convenient
what kind of a retard elitist do you think you are?
