ITT: Discuss Creeper World
What did we think of the move to 3D?
>>
>>739887889
someone explain the story
i have no fucking idea whats going on
>>
Oh man
>>
>>739888031
I think ye olde technologically advanced people made nanobots and then were victims of their own hubris and now those nanobots keep purging life whenever they feel like it?
>>
>>739888031
blue water is gay cum
if it touches you, you become gay
>>
>>739887889
Move to 3D looks ok, it's nice seeing a huge wave of creeper approaching without having to mouse over it to check it's height like in 2D games.
I wish IXE wasn't so shit and didn't take forever to develop.
>>
>>739887889
I prefer 3 over 4, The 3d looks cool but I think it plays worse.

Also I really can't seem to git gud at IXE
>>
Are there ANY other games like it? Currently playing Particle Fleet (kind of a spinoff by the same devs, with spaceships) and Infested Planet
>>739888206
How's IXE shit? I haven't played it yet but I know not to expect a traditional CW game since it's just about pushing ships forward or something
>>
>>739887889
I liked 2D games more desu but FPS maps can be pretty fun
IXE was ass tho
>>739888031
Blue water bad, Abraxis cool
That's about it when it comes to things that hold true between games
>>
>>739888249
Instead of defending and fighting you're gathering various kinds of sand to mix it together to get different results. One mission requires you to manually make a bomb and it's so imprecise and awkward I almost dropped the game.
>>
>>739888236
I never finished 4. I stopped on I think the last missions where the creeper gains the ability to infect the land itself, and I just never figured out what I'm supposed to do about a piece of mountain next to my base shitting out creeper
>>739888408
Is it worth checking out at all if I keep in mind it won't be a CW game really?
>>
>>739888249
Perimeter, duh
>>
I played only creeper world 4, I enjoyed it I think but by the end of the campaign it was getting a bit stale for me. I don't know if there was another main mode I was missing or something but every map felt like the same. Get over the initial trouble, deal with whatever the map's gimmick is then slowly expand outwards. Maybe I'm not creative enough to have more fun with it but surely I'm not the only one.

You described it to a T, the fun is the initial scramble OH FUCK THERE'S SPORE PODS COMING IN 90 SECONDS AAAAAAA and transitioning to slowly pushing forwards with your turrets
The community maps have crazy shit where you need optimal build orders, but the core of the game doesn't change. It's a comfy game of watching your guys stem the tide

>It's a comfy game of watching your guys stem the tide
I think this is why I enjoyed it even with this issue, slapping down a shield dome and defending points was nice. The problem is that you could hold things indefinitely. I know you had to delete creeper sources as you go but the last source on the map should constantly increase the volume that comes through or something to make it so you have to be cleverer about expanding and holding. It wasn't bad especially since I paid less than a coffee for it and got like 10+ hours out of it but it felt like it could have used some tightening up. Now that I've been reminded of it, i think it could have made terraforming a much bigger part of the game outside of the maps where it was a requirement, maybe it was too expensive to do when you didn't have to patch up walls or whatever when that was the map gimmick.

I know one but it's early access and the engine isn't that good

Oh is that the one with the plants? I've seen that one though it didn't quite look as comfy
Wishlisted to check out if it ever leaves EA
>>
>>739889628
Yup, it's playable but not good enough for me to recommend in other thread, but it fits for this thread.

it's alright, but after I found out you can bind a key to switch between 3d and top-down I spent most of the time on top-down mode
>>
>>739889681
Oh right I watched the trailer and remembered the main thing that made it seem not as comfy: Limited resource fields like Command & Conquer, so you can't hold out indefinitely
