I bought it since there’s nothing else to play. It feels like a nice little throwback to a game 10 years ago. I like what they did with bond and they kept in a lot of of the puns which I appreciated.

Seriously OP, its got more in common with Hitman and that faggoty Indiana Jones game than it does with anything Bond. No recognizable Bond character, no multiplayer that goes for days, its third person now, the unarmed combat focus is shit, the gunplay is also shit... it doesn't leave much on the table for people to actually enjoy unless you're genuinely one of the mouthbreathing fuckwits that really enjoyed Hitman.

It does well what it set out to do: be a Bond movie in vidya form. It's basically an evolution on Nightfire or Blood Stone. Great gunplay, fine stealth, it's not Hitman lite like people thought pre-release, it's essentially Uncharted. Worst parts in replays would probably be the walk-and-talk sections whenever you go back to MI6 or the beginning of the Knightfall chapter. Perfectly fine 7/10, more if you're into Bond. /vpol/ shitposters can tongue my anus.

If you've never played Hitman: World of Assassination, it'll be an 8/10. If you have, more like a 6.5/10. Combat may be way better than Hitman but stealth and mission stories are just so dumbed down you can't really engage with them.

The actual plot is kind of interesting but the pacing is terrible and you never learn to give a shit about Greenway or M. Also, Bond is really, really "not the Bond you know" in this. He's borderline incompetent, impulsive, and rarely thinks two or three steps ahead because he's so self-righteous. He has no suave, he doesn't get a Bond Girl, and the small cast of antagonists he comes up against are all written to be dumber than him because the writers were forbidden to write him intelligently.

>>
>>739918983
I hated how they gave all the classic one liners to other characters. Especially 'shaken not stirred' being given to Isola. Like, it's not enough Bond has to be rescued from his situation every time but he also doesn't get to act at all like a professional spy on assignment and all of those moments are given to Isola or Cressida or Greenway. I don't care this is supposed to be newbie trainee 18-year old Bond. He's not some fucking rookie at the start of the game. He's an SAS operative who's already been through their elite training.

I'm five hours in now, and the design of the game is starting to drag and break down.

The whole thing up until the aiport chase was good enough, then it just starts going down, which makes sense. Devs know 90% of players only play games for 3 hours and move on, so that's the part they polished.

Correct any mistakes I make, or shitpost away:

WHAT'S WOKE/MODERN AUDIENCES
Daniel Craig bond movie type, brown, female leadership everywhere.

WHAT'S CHUDLY
Hot bond girl asses. All safe horny, as none of the press are complaining. Only chudly enough to really trigger PC gamer.

WHAT'S HITMAN
SMALL SEGMENTS OF THE MAIN GAME. THE POST GAME, WHICH ISN'T FUCKING DONE YET.

WHAT'S MOVIE
THE ENTIRE SUPERSTRUCTURE. THIS IS A MOVIE GAME. IF YOU HATE MOVIE GAMES STAY THE FUCK AWAY.

MY RATING
people who liked absolution should get it.
people who wanted a Craig sort of movie game should get it.
I will get at some discount. Maybe 50 percent.

Note that the women look better than the previews from 9 months ago. I get the vibe from the set pieces where bond get bailed out constantly, and the women were less sexy, that they reacted to the "modern audiences" audience reaction and dumped in more ho' outfits.

Pretty much the perfect cozy game. It is like Snoger games from the early 2000s when they still understood what made casual adventure movie games good. Before the over-the-shoulder preachy fag shit they do now. But it is elevated beyond that. As enjoyable as a less retarded Uncharted with a little of the freedom from Hitman but with a significantly evolved version of Bamham/AssCrud combat (finally a mainstream studio has figured out how to add world interactivity to melee combat).
I can't wait to see how they evolve the melee combat in a sequel or ideally its inclusion into the next Hitman game. I'm still rockhard from jamming those faggy twins faces into glass earlier.
The perfect game to lean back in my chair, prop my feet up, sip on a glass of red wine, smoke my cigar and game on my steam controller to.

Like this take too, it had some cozy moments for sure. The gunplay was very fun at times, and the beat-em-up combat could use a little work, especially when fighting multiple enemies.
>>739922608
>>739922713
interesting contradictions.. technically, every game (with a character/movement) is a walking sim as a core gameplay mechanic.
At times it felt like the world could've been massively expanded, and with such a budget the gameplay loop got a bit stale and felt constricted at times.
>>
Its a solid game, 7/10

Weirdly enough the biggest setback I'd say are the mini-Hitman sections. It fucked the pacing up badly in Webb Industries/Perch and even the Arctic place was just a slog of boring shooting sections. The game lacked the Uncharted setpieces that the hotel middle had. It felt like taking a mid attempt at Uncharted, and a mid attempt at Hitman, and mushing them together. Neither side compliments the other at all.
>>
>>739917960
I am having a blast! :D
>>
>>739917960
It's actually pretty alright but not worth $70. A few hours in I realized it's basically just a modern version of Everything or Nothing that's a little tighter (except for the railroaded driving). On a side note, I really like the new take on the setting and I wish that the new series coming would basically just be like this even though I know it will crank up the wokeness like 50 times worse than First Light does.

WTF is with that shit where MI6 was shitting itself because Webb threatened to leak data if he died then he died anyway and his dead man's switch is never mentioned again. Also when Moneypenny gets stabbed in the faraday cage. Once Bond leaves the cage he doesn't radio for help, he just quips about M missing him.
>>
>>739925189
the Webb stalemate was because if Bond goes for Hyperion, Webb shoots him. If he shoots Webb, Hyperion leaks the data. But then Isolde shoots Webb. Changing the stalemate; now if Bond stops Isolde stealing Hyperion, Webb dies and leaks the data. If Bond keeps Webb's heart beating. Isolde can take Hyperion offline.
The deadman's switch never triggers because Hyperion was taken offline

No idea about the 2nd part. That was clearly an oversight

I would say a studio of this size selling so few copies is unheard of, but we have recent examples like Bungie going from selling 14 million copies of Halo 3 to a similar 1 million with their latest woke flop Marathon.

It's woke but not very in your face woke. Moneypenny was always a woman, now she's a black woman. Q was always a snarky know it all sissy, so no change there. You can ignore the dei in it and enjoy an easy stealth movie game. Nothing wrong with fun slop, don't worry about what others think of what you enjoy.

you know "James Bond will return" has been a thing since Connery right?
It was a statement from MGM - that even if the 2nd Bond movie fails like everyone said it will, they will invest and make another. Just about every Bond movie since then had that statement.

Marvel stole it zoom zoom.

not a bad start to probably a full Bond vidya series.
the combat works well and the gadgets are fun.
the Hitman areas could use some work. They don't suck but they're just not it. They're like little puzzles with a few set solutions and one is probably easy and right in your face or the game throws every solution at you and tells you to pick one.
and if you fuck up any stealth you can just punch your way through things
Story was good, pretty predictable but not bad. Kind of wish that Greenway survived because he was based once he took the stick out of his ass

They nail the tone of just the right mix of campy charm and serious drama, the combat is genuinely surprisingly solid coming from the hitman devs, the stealth and open ended level designs are all more shallow than in Hitman with way fewer options and a much more railroaded experience that's also way easier since Bond's gear is laughably OP and can trivialize everything. I like nu-bond, he mogs Craig. Good game.

ok I need some clarification about the bondgirl
near the end of the game, James says he figured out who she works for and says its the CIA and he has a whole schizo reasoning for it, but she just says "no, retard. not even close" and they move on, but this comes IMMEDIATELY AFTER the scene where they fuck and James watches a Chinese submarine arrive to deliver them equipment. I think the license to kill shootouts are terrible.

I get what they’re going for, but the game’s animations are way to loose to be attempting a combat system like this.

It’s basically asking you to play Vanquish with Last of Us controls. Even Tomb Raider’s reboot played better than this.

The core problem is you have no ammunition and enemy gunfire is constantly on you, so there’s nothing to close the gap with if you’re further out under fire after the gun throw. The watch and gadgets could have been that, except you have to constantly pick up bleach and Duracells from the level.

The whole thing is very rough and I don’t think the reviewers played past the opening. This isn’t even getting into the Hitman segments.

So far I've got two instances of funny stuff happening. On two occasions, when I hit E to use something, Bond's pathfinding derps out and he just lumbers around trying to get to the relevant interactable. Kinda stressful when I was navigating the laser tripwires on the boat and tried turning on the water valves. Other time was when I was talking to the lady in the market who wanted the gem and Bond just kept walking sideways while chatting. Only happened twice.

Second thing is that I sometimes complete those "no knockouts or kills" challenges when I actually had gotten into a fight and knocked somebody out. That one's ok with me though.

Overall I'm very impressed with how it just works. I'm used to western AAA feeling really stiff and unsatisfying, but here there's lots of things going on at the same time without it looking like the game is trying to do more than it can. Especially the combat scenarios where there's lots of armed enemies pinning you down, trying to flank you, fragging you out of cover, and meanwhile you can always turn on the Q-watch for some slo-mo or to use gadgets. Or blow up some of those delicious red barrels, god I love them.

It would be easy to just reference the 25 Bond flicks and call it a day but I like that there's a lot of deepcut references to the Fleming and even post-Fleming novels.

>tfw OHMSS kicks in just as Bond reunites with Greenway at the quarry
>Greenway takes his fatal wound replicating the gun barrel shot while pushing Bond out of the way

The only real disappointment was just Bond getting 007 because he was the seventh recruit. With how many parallels they deliberately set up between Greenway and "classic Bond," even his ex-wife basically being Vesper if she wasn't a double agent with the line about her working for the treasury, it would've been neat if they finished off that story arc with Bond inheriting it as Greenway's old number. It wouldn't even have been the first time they did it, Forever and a Day had a fresh minted 007 Bond hunting down the people that killed the previous 007.

That and I guess you don't really get to do much with the weaponized Aston Martin other than do donuts and hold down shoot.

Or with Bond walking in from the "right" during that scene it's supposed to emphasize that it's a gun barrel moment, just with Greenway doing it and getting shot in the process while Bond gets shoved to safety.
Just like No Time to Die had a similar pseudo gun barrel shot during the climax.

I basically powered through the game over the weekend, and while I've got some complaints about pacing and how the "licensed to kill" system works, overall it was a very fun time. It's definitely a "movie" or cinematic style game, but considering its Bond, I think it works quite well- and not for nothing, the story itself was pretty good. Coherent, lots of foreshadowing, especially great acting from the cast, although the initial training section is especially slow.

The "figure out how to proceed" sections are interesting, but the highlight of the game for sure is the gunplay. Something about Bond's animations and the way he fights is very fun and novel to me. It encourages you to move with a sort of "flow", especially since you chuck empty weapons at enemies to stun them, and can follow it up with a melee/disarm attack to keep the fight going.

Really solid experience overall, and it's actually longer than I expected it to be, but still felt like it was a bit short even when the credits rolled. I beat it in about 13 hours.

If you like Bond, or the spy fantasy at all, or want a different take on Uncharted, I would recommend it. If you're a dribbling retard who complains that Bond takes orders from a woman even though it's been a series staple since Brosnan, get the fuck out.
>>

Overall good movie game but way too many climbing sections. Do people even find that shit fun? I mean at least with some games they add some different mechanics but this was just climbing on rails. Also showed how weak the on rail driving portions are if the set pieces aren't done well enough. That boat section was the worst part of the game. Characters were great though. Greenway's actor was top notch.

I finished it last night. They had Moneypenny interrupt him saying his one James Bond line. They had a woman give him his first shaken martini and take all the credit for the trope. The females had all the leadership roles and led him around like a dog almost the whole game.

There was also not a single female soldier you shoot at or punch. All men. Hell in the final sequence you're chasing the female villain on boats and there's a literal Ø over her boat making you unable to shoot at her. After of course Bond had to have his life saved by her.

Quite enjoyed the fakeout with the training montage and the friendship with Monroe and Cressida to pretend that this'll be a young Bond story only for them to get horribly murdered/maimed in the first real mission and for Bond to become the jaded cynic psycho right from the get-go. The entire mood of the game shifts from your second MI6 visit on. Feels like Monroe's death and the entire team getting fucked is the game's version of Vesper's death as far as fucking Bond up permanently. Even his quips from there onward take a very "I'm hiding myself behind these" tone.

Modern day linear slop with shit out of date enemy Ai, jank, bugs imported over from mu Hitman, bland dialogue and shitty modern writing fully of snarky girl bosses and weak plotlines. There were better programmed stealth games 20 years ago than this absolute shit.

It is objectively bad but sadly soulless modern gamers today are conditioned to eat shit and say thank you " Mr Corporation for the yummy shit and slop yum yum,. may I have some more slop please, sir? Mmmmm yummy yummy yum yum more slop for my tum" and so on.

The story is a disjointed mess. Most of the story beats and characters set up in the first half of the game are completely irrelevant to the plot and serve no purpose. Combat is good for the style they're aiming for, but the immersive sim portions of the game, which is like more than half of the runtime are actual dogshit. despite their pedigree + 7 years dev time they somehow weren't able to put together a half decent system. Most of you retards only like shit like this because you don't play games anymore, playing a movie game that mimics the tone of your capeshit slop is enough.

>check out streamer playing the new AAA slop
>security agent is suspicious and walking around the table the player is crouching behind, asking us to leave despite not seeing the player model
>when entering his line of sight he goes in full alert mode and isn't asking the player to leave anymore, only straight trying to kill him
>streamer jumps through a window in front of the guard chasing him, and stays hanging there on the window's edge while the guard stands still in front of it and wondering where the player went

Dishonored had guards patrolling and remembering where they heard noise/locating the player using approximative sound spatialisation instead of making a bee line to the source of the noise, they remember where they saw something suspicious, are taking different approaches to corner you, and if you're out of reach they'll come around to get you or throw shit at you/fire at you/call renforcement etc etc.
Stop buying games when the AAA industry deserves to die.
>>
Having smart AI in a videogame is actually a bad idea. It'd be super easy to program a guard who has good peripheral vision, investigates the sound of clothing ruffling against a wall, checks in natural hiding places, and doesn't forget what happened ten seconds ago, but it would also be super tiring for every encounter in the game to be against this guard.
>>
>>739940181
