I'm looking forward to PvE. I loved the game from the server slam to about halfway through season 1 but it just got way too sweaty for me, it immediately filtered all of my friends and then playing solo went from occasional big wins and some very tense small wins to basically never winning and constantly getting obliterated by people I never saw before I had a chance to do anything. If it had a solid campaign and they went further with the lore and cutscenes it'd be an easy lock for one of my all time favorite games but right now it just feels like the ultimate Potential Man of gaming.

Marathon doesn’t need modes, it needs an ecosystem. The ecosystem needs to be: planning -> extracting -> raiding. A hub-like zone for yourself where you can research the codex, develop weapons and liaison with corporations and contacts. Delta Force already has this, copy it and make it more Ghost in the Shell. Extraction loop is fine, that’s already the core game. Last point is reading. Extractions need to lead into Destiny-tier raids against AI and bosses where you can stress your vault and runner builds.That’s it. As soon as the game develops out that core, then it’s fine. Right now it’s great, but it seasaws on the emotional outrage and highs extraction games offer.

I don’t think Night Marsh is going to do all that much. It’s the same map but in the dark, and you can’t see anything. Season 2 will get about 30,000 people on steam on day 1 and the same falloff will happen because it’s just a map at night.
