What went so RIGHT?
Good pixel art and a single player mmo setting
The writing was compelling enough that even though Lea can only say a half-dozen words she's a fully-realized personality whose emotions and opinions are clear. A lot of silent protagonists just emote and the other person fills in the whole conversation but everything surrounding Lea's muteness is treated realistically.
She's a kyuutie patootie
>>739990330The puzzles
>>739990330I enjoyed the puzzles a lot. Alabaster Dawn has significantly better combat, though, in addition to nice puzzles so far.
It's like Zelda meets Chrono Trigger.
>>739990330I loved the game. I liked (most of) the characters. The dungeon design was hit or miss. I didn't like the direction the story went. Hopefully their next game nails all of those.
>>739991294I agree completely. The way they wrote her was very clever.
>>739990330For me, it's the LASER BRIDGES
>>739993682Those MMO mechanics dry up pretty quickly, it's mostly set dressing after the first couple hours. My understanding the soft sequel is a lot more directly an action game though.
I just want nothing but puzzle dungeons.
>>739990330I loved the game, it was right up my alley of what I liked. The shit happening in the background was also interesting and I wish we could have got a view at how Earth looked in this setting.
will AD be in early access for years as well?
>>739990330sell me on her game
>>739991575>>739993806I liked many of the puzzles, though I feel a few end game ones went overboard and didn't need to exist.Even Sergey is like>gautham are you fucking serious
>>739994332Sure will. I don't think they even have an expected release year yet.
>>739991754Too bad the plot sucks huge dick
>>739994442Solid action RPG with a unique combat rhythm due to the mix of melee and ranged attacks combined with the element swapping as each element has its own skill tree/attacks. The setting being an in-game MMO lets it keep a lighthearted tone structurally even when the story gets heavier, and makes the eventual Tron/Reboot/SAO 'you have to collect 12 bear assess or you die for real' feel less trite. The characters are great, and above all else they nail the feeling of online friends where you know their dreams, their fears, their hopes, their sorrows, but not their hair color. Not their face. Not their real name. The dungeons are also great but some of the later timed puzzles can be kind of a slog because it's a bunch of ricocheting projectiles you have to guide through mazes of switches, and any one fuckup makes you restart.
>>739994454You can say that a lot of bosses, particularly the final one had really worn out their welcome.I think the problem that exists there and not with the puzzles is that the combat is way too simplistic to actually make longer or more difficult bossfights engaging in any way that isn't complete bullshit(the DLC pvp fights where they just pull out endless iframes and somehow dodge lock on attacks that have locked you in an animation) or lasting an eternity(final bosses). With the puzzles you can at least make big stretches of puzzles or add timing challenges or whatever else.
Any Emilie fans?
>>739994942Yeah she's my favorite.
>>739990330Why is this ancient dogshit being shilled now? Can you just tell me why you are back at this moment in time to talk about this boring shitty little game?
No really, the game came out in 2018. I played it in 2022 and nobody cared back then. Why the shilling now? Why do you pretend that anyone cares about this game suddenly? Clue us in.
>us
>>739995203CrossCode gets 1-2 threads a month and the dev just released a new game into EA that's very similar. Also if a large group of people "are pretending" to care about something they probably just actively care about it.
>>739995149Generally when a sequel or spiritual sequel to a game comes out, it tends to cause people to look back at it. Whether they've played it before or are just discovering it for the first time after playing said sequel first. And oh golly gee look at that, Alabaster Dawn just released recently (albeit in EA), what a coincidence! As for nobody caring, CrossCode gets regularish threads on /v/ and has been for fucking years. It's not our fault you always managed to miss them.
>>739995203I've been a crosscode fan since 2015. Kys.
I feel like Alabaster Dawn premise is a lot more boring, which funny cause Crosscode is just an MMO larping
>>739995312>a large group of people....
>>739990330it's one of the only non-puzzle games to include actual puzzles instead of "puzzles".
>>739995149You're a weird freak and nobody likes you.
>>739995357>CrossCode gets regularish threads on /v/ and has been for fucking years. No it doesn't. Why do you lie about this shit? What is this bizarre little weird faggot reality you have constructed for yourself?
>>739990330This game gets a retarded amount of hate. I finally played it a few months ago and had a lot of fun. Also I kept hearing how the game is "woke". As someone that just dives into games and doesnt research who worked on it or whatever (I'm also not on social media) what exactly makes it woke?
>>739994745We don't even know what the plot is yet, numbnuts. Only the premise. If you told me Cross Code was about playing as an AI in an MMO, I'd write it off there.
>>739995559No need for such harsh projection AGPtroon.
>>739995575Fucking anything can be called 'woke' now it's just a buzzword. If I had to guess what set off the mouthbreathers; it has a girl protag, in the DLC two of the NPCs are directly stated to be gay as opposed to what they were in the story, which was roommates that were emotionally codependent in a manner gayer than man-on-man sex, and there's probably a rainbow flag somewhere.
>>739995560Because I'm sure you're on /v/ 24/7 and know each and every single thread that has ever been posted for the last ten years.Fuck off. It's okay to not like something, but don't come in here and smear shit all over the place.
>>739994745That's incredibly rich coming from anyone that thought crosscode had a story worth giving a shit about. None of the crosscode characters are fleshed out at all. I could rant about this to character limit probably. All it takes is a jpeg of an anime girl emoting for weebs to connect to a character.
Try New Game Plus if you haven't.
>>739990330they made the cutest character in gaming
>>739991754Yes, but the writing is bland as fuck this time around and every other character is LGBTQIA+
>>739996014I'm doing No Mercy + 2x damage at the moment and it's really hard. Maybe the Creator boss will actually be a challenge ToT
>>739994942Very cute French autist.
>>739990330i really enjoyed and like this game (btw. i had to do some maintenance at the office of the gamedevs due to work. i had no idea and suddenly saw a bunch of merch lying around the office).I unfortunatly have not finished the game im at the Lightning temple i think it was but had to stop due to real life issues. Now im scared to go back because i fear i will not remember most of the mechanics
>>739998225You'll be fine. Just roam the open world for a while in each of the elements.
>>7399955752 NPC team mates are a gay couple. They're not bad characters and it's not really intrusive, it's like 2 lines of dialogue. I can't think of anything else honestly.Alabaster Dawn is incredibly woke though. Guys in makeup, non-binarys(?), dudes in jewellery, black MC (she cute tho), and set up for an interracial lesbian relationship plotline.
>>739998330i think i saved right in the middle of the dungeon, there was some kind of time limit if i remember correctly so my dumb ass is scared even though i can just simply reload i guess....
>>739990330>was going to try the game after reading a synopsis>Get a sinking feeling I know the twist>look it up>right on the moneySaved me a lot of trouble. I don't like playing a game where you play as an AI.
>>739990330Absolutely amazing game honestly. Finished it (not the DLC yet though) a few weeks ago and came out of it thinking I had an incredible experience. I have my issues with it as I do with any indie game since they all have their moments of jank or hitching, but none of that was enough to drag down the experience for me. Love Lea, love the puzzles, love the soundtrack. The combat and story are good too. Simple as.
>>739999523Based.
>>739997835Not a single LGBTQIA+ character, and the bland writing is currently more enjoyable than Lea's limited speech gimmick.
>see thread>check steam>$8 for the game + dlcYou better not be lying to me /v/. I've fallen for your tricks one too many times already
>>740000887>Not a single LGBTQIA+ characteruh huh
>>740000887
>>740001831That's a bargain. Prepare for a slow first few hours after the first town, honestly that's the only gripe I have with CrossCode. It picks up and keeps adding more mechanics from there. For 8 bucks it's a no brainer.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mw5yjUMm-KM
>>740001948I look like this

Anyone interested in Infinite Alliance? Lea is going to be in it
>>740002391https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oj-uyIo0ts
>>7400023910 interest. But this reminds me I got cosmic star heroine on my switch and should play that some time.
>>740002667HOW DOES THE SWITCH ALWAYS HAVE A FUCKING SYSTEM UPDATE WHEN I START IT OH MY GOD THIS SHIT IS SO ANNOYING
>>739990330this game seems to be tranny coded. I haven't played it, but that's how it feels.
I have wokeslop fatigue

>>740002828Maybe they shouldn't have used tranny aesthetics and sensibilities? Something about the art style and the name is immediately suspect.
>>740002828How is he wrong?
>>740002391>>740002485I haven't thought about CSH in years.>Alyssa and Chahn as bosses and not playable charactersLameWeird they didn't choose Dem or Cthulhu as a Zeboid reb.

Abort. Abort.
I have sharty discord raid fatique.
>>740001948I hate faggots for appropriating the flamboyant male aesthetic.
>>739995775leave my french autistic wife out of your goddamn mouth
>>740002758CrossCode isn't like that. No comment on Alabaster Dawn.
>>740003232That cant be her real name
>>739998535There's no time limit unless you're going for that one achievement for racing Emilie. Better doing that on NG+ anyway. You can leave dungeons and pick up from where you left off whenever.
>>740003850>her
>>740003850>
>so buckbroken by trannies that niggas can't go a single thread without bringing them upmental illness
Lea!
>>740003201>>740003232You culture warriors seriously need some Death of the Author in your lives.
>>739998434Why are guys in makeup woke?
>>739990330Was fun and sticks in my mind as the only early access game I bought that actually turned out well. At the time that was pretty rare. Even now that it has become much more common, a lot of them still end up nothing like what was promised.
>>740002391Lea's seeing some crossover work recently.https://youtu.be/ZZUg983MM9s
>>739994942Present.
>>739990330This is probably the best game I've ever dropped. Got sick of the endless fucking puzzles when I was in the fire dungeon. Seriously, did it really need to be that long?! Also, the dlc outfit was poorly integrated and didn't show up half the time.
