Why is this game so FUCKING HARD?
>>740006678What's hard about it? You probably shouldn't be fighting most enemies
>>740006678Shitty platforming is fun actually
To facilitate the connection between player and character as the nerves are more conductive under tension. Difficult games are more immersive since there's less mind-space available to be a player playing a game, easy way to dissolve that mental barrier but there are other complimentary methods like in-game actions making tactile real world sense.
>let's graft a dozen dozen community maps together on our dlc, put teleports at arbitrary places connecting them, and ask the player to find an echo in random maps at random places picked randomly at the start of the run>the combined size of all those maps is maybe four times the size of the normal game>also the dlc is instable as fuck and crashes at least once every hour on switchthis is a disgrace
>>740006678Nature is, like, le cruel brooo
>>740006956>he can't use advanced controls
>>740006678Silksong is roughly 100x harder. The hardest thing about Rain World is the random enemy behavior causing you to be killed by a lizard that was just off screen and deleting five minutes of progress
it's really not, if you just don't try to fight the enemies and run away
>>740006678
>>740009717how do you run away from red lizard
>>740009632Well nuclear throne is *100 times harder than sneedsong. Checkmate faggot.
>>740009985you tell him you have a restraining order on him
>>740009985By not being detected by it in the first place.
>>740009985if you have a spear or rock throw it at it
>>740006842>What's hard about it? yeah, absolutely nothing difficult about it, considering you have to rely on trial and error to figure out what kills you and what doesn't, on top of the platforming requiring ridiculous precision and controls are ass
>>740009056what are those octopus for?
>>740011416mating dances
>>740009985>>740010996If you have a rock and a spear, throw them at it in that order.
>>740009632they're different types of difficulty. ss is hard in a fair and straightforward way, rain rorld is hard because it's confusing and makes you feel retarded
>>740006678Because of your desire to make progress. Desires cause suffering. Abandon your desires and be at peace.
Silksong is harder than Rainworld, but Rainworld is more punishing than Silksong
>>740011521>they're different types of difficultyCorrect. Rain World feels like the world does not care about you. Silksong feels like the world is actively malicious towards you.
>>740011728>Anon reach Karm 10/0 IRL>victory screen>ascends a nanosecond later
>>740006678>objective: die
>>740011728It's ironic then that the act of pursuing a purpose beyond base instinctual desires such as food, shelter and survival are what makes the slugcat worthy of ascension. The struggle is your purpose.
>>740007796no it's actually pretty well designed. there's way more echoes than you actually need. and you're guided towards the final one in a pretty clever way.>also the dlc is instable as fuck and crashes at least once every hour on switchi have no sympathy for console players
>>740006678Being a slugcat is hard.
>>740009781swap the faces in the last panels for me
>>740006678Because you haven't played enough to learn how to move effectively and recognise and avoid hazards. You either explore and learn by doing or sift through multiple pages long wiki articles of movement tech.
>>740012236But it is true that chilling and going with the flow rather than trying to force progress every cycle makes the game a lot less frustrating.
>>740012634the movement tech is completely arbitrary. there's nothing to tell me or even intuitive about how superjumping works, or slughopping. i went through the entire game and never figured out how to backflip.also why are you pretending like anybody struggles with "identifying" hazards past the first area?99% of the game is just knowing the map layout so you don't get caught out in the rain, or don't get yourself trapped in a dead end.
>>740013178>I went through the entire game and never figured out how to backflip. Are you telling me you played this game dozens of hours and never, not once, accidentally executed a backflip or slide and thought to yourself 'huh, how'd that happen? Maybe I can make it happen again?'What do you expect me to say to that?
Game looks cool and has a great concept/aesthetic but the prospect of slogging back and forth across the world several times with deaths galore all the way sounded tedious so I just ended up looking up the whole story, which to be fair was an interesting one
>>740011368I get you're being sarcastic but how about you put that same amount of effort into being less bad at games
It's not that hard, but it does have pretense to being a hard game. Genuinely never really understood why people lose their minds over this game. The "simulation" is marred by virtue of the game not being that interesting, and and how glitchy things are. It's like the posterchild for why "emergent systems" fucking suck as game design. Very lofty aspirations, but the execution is just bad. The simulation isn't interesting, and the interactivity you have with it boils down to a shortlist of crap like "give the animal a thing it likes to befriend it". All the pretense towards animals having their own personality is complete bupkis, oh wow this lizard is less aggressive? It's completely irrelevant to the gameplay because the environment affects enemy behavior more than a 2% malus to whether or not something is going to pursue you. Oh this animal has a different personality? I can't really tell because it's just bugging out like everything else in this fuckfest. Much of everything comes down to dice rolls, so all of the "hidden" structure of the simulation just comes off as janky systems and opaque randomness. The only part of the game that makes it fun is that pretense to being a hard game. How many limitations it imposes on you as a regular player. Some of them are completely meaningless though, like the map. You can basically completely sidestep the whole "slugcats are retarded" mechanic just by using your own memory of the level. There's all kinds of weird choices where the difficulty is completely obliterated simply by not being retarded and sidestepping the mechanics of the game.
>>740011416they fire ink when thrown, and then die. basically a living smoke grenade, as long as you throw it onto land, toss it into water and it just swims around.also you can eat them once they're dead.
>>740013885why do you hurt my feelings?
>>740013667yeah it just seemed like a random glitch
>>740014645Because I want you to play rainworld :)
