It's 90% off on steam. Should I?
>>740007019I dunno, think for yourself.
>>740007019>steamIf you play it by 2038 and don't mind losing it until then, sure.
>>740007019Eeeeeh.It's very boring. There's some nice parts - the viking dutch band that's a mainstay in Remedy games - but man the gun sucks no matter what mods you slap on it, most powers fucking suck, and even multi-launch falls off hard once you get to the DLC or that arena mode.If you're looking for a fun SCP game the monsters are all kind of lame and the agency are all jobbers. There's not much to actually recommend the game on.
i know nothing about your tastes, but i love the game
>>740007075But I won't know unless I buy it. I'd like to know if it's good before spending the money. Or if I should buy something else instead.
>>740007019i liked it
Play it for him
ask ai
>>740007019If you liked SCP back in the day? Yes. If you like a lot of well written mystery? Yes. If you want great shooting mechanics and actual gameplay? Meh.It's overall a good game. I'd say give it a try. It feels like a cross between LOST/Severance/SCP
>>740007019If repetitive gameplay and shitty pseud writing don't bother you, then sure.
https://www.gog.com/en/game/control_ultimate_editionThe game is good outside of the moments when it focuses on the main character.
>>740007019I got it as a 75% discount and felt that it was worth it. Not perfect, but good.
NOITS SHIT
It's better than Quantum Bane and Alan Woke 2 but its still a lesser nuRemedy game
It's a pretty mediocre shooter, some nice destruction and you can use telekinesis to fling shit around but all the guns are quickly overheating garbage with endless ammo. Later on you will probably get some upgrades to make it more bearable but they tacked on some barebones loot system as well with very limited inventory space so youll be recycling most loot you get.
>>740007019it's a good, if repetitive, shooter where you feel like a superhero. the protagonist is bland and not very attractive and there's an undercurrents of faggotry to the writing. if you can live with those negatives, it's worth picking up for cheap
>>740007019I likeded it
no gooner mods yet
>>740007019played the tutorial, started the actual game, opened the map to see where to go, saw the how actual game will be like, and uninstalled.
>>740007019why would you buyed it on steam when timmy already boughted a free copy for all of us
>>740008062This one has all the DLC's Timmy only gave me standard edition. So really I'd be paying for the DLC's and not use epic launcher. I've bought steam games before even though Epic made them free, just because their launcher is personally insulting to me
This game's try-hard writing is one of the worst I've ever seen. If you're not a 90 IQ normie stay away from it.
>>740008418Yup, definitely some good ideas in there but repeating the same "go through office, pick up 2 text documents, an audio file and watch a recording" every 5 minutes is draining. Especially when most of it is shit you already know. I like the dark puppet show but i've only seen a few scenes since i'm not very far into the game. Just met the stereotypical black girlboss soldier
It's a solid game with really interesting (to me) lore and setting. Uncle Timmy has given it out for free like 2-3 times by now, so if you haven't grabbed it that way than I'd definitely consider picking it up or pirating. The one big gripe I had with it is you don't get flight until 2/3 of the way through the game, and they clearly designed all the combat in the game around that ability. So everything before that feels like a generic early 2010's cover shooter. I'd say it's a 6.5/10 before flight and 7.75/10 afterwards. Also if you've played the Alan Wake games there are a lot of references and some story continuation
>>740007019It's kind of shit, I didn't finish it.>Painfully below average TPS gameplay>Interesting lore, but terrible character writing and dialogues>Sidequests designed to waste your time>Broken HDR>Respawning enemies>Lame RPG-ish "+X% to thing" progression
>>7400070196/10. Bought ultimate but didn't play the dlcs because it was just OK
>>740007315Bane?!
>>740007019Sure
>>740007165>DYNA-MITE
At least half of my enjoyment of the game came from whenever Trench popped up on-screen to aura farm from beyond the grave.
How much longer must one wait before uncle Sam is allowed to put AW2 on Steam so it can actually make a profit
>>740010313it'll be 3 years come october. maybe then.
>>740010313Given how fully the game was funded by Epic it's pretty likely a never ever. I know between its shitty advertising and inital Epic exclusivitey I slept on Control far longer than I'd like to admit. I'm hoping Control 2's more action gamey style helps solve the Remedy problem of functional enough gameplay that starts to get boring by the end.
>>740010313>put 3 years old in steam>expect people to pay more than 3€ for itcan't wait
>>740010313When a new game that steals Fortnite's playerbase comes out
>>740010493Counterpoint: Imagine how many people are more willing to pay 10 dollars for a game on Steam than to get that same game for free on "Epic Games".
it's a shit game made of shit. And i liked Quantum Break
>game teaches you a new mechanic>the boss you fight right after is immune to ittop notch gameplay.
>>740007019It's just 'okay'. Setting is cool if you like early-SCP, has some neat moments, and chucking shit at enemies is fun.But for me it starts to lose steam about a 3/4 of the way through the game, lots of bullet-spongey enemies that aren't that engaging to fight. The side-mission shit where you do busywork for a 1% damage mod feels tacked on too, don't know it it's much better than if the games progression was strictly linear and enemy levels were done away with. Ending's sort of boring too.I don't really feel compelled to replay it or check out the expansions.
Why did it flop guys?
>>740010880At least a little of the blame can maybe be put on how shit a bunch of other 'Left-4-Likes' have been recently. Like, when was the last time a decent co-op swarm shooter even came out? Back 4 Blood was shit, PAYDAY 3 was a huge let-down, DRG was aight but then those devs dropped it stone dead and exposed themselves for being one-hit-wonders. I think Firebreak just kind of got lost in the weeds for the most part.
>>740007019I couldn't recommend this at full price. It's alright. There's things to like but I found the shooting to be boilerplate and generic. Jesse cute btw.
Isn't it about time to announce the Resonant delay? There's no way it releases this year
>>740007019It's just quantum break but worse somehow. Redit loves it tho so you'll be able to farm some updoots
Are you looking forward to CONTROL of WAR /v/ros?Will it be good good or just Remedy's usual 6-7/10 good? Will they somehow find a way to shoehorn Alan into this one too?
Sure, it's ok. But if you want a good SCP themed action game, get Trepang2 instead.
>>740011363It's going to turn out to be all Dylan's dreamHe can't actually be more powerful than girlboss Jesse
>>740011237They've been very consistent with releases this past decade. It will come out around September no problem.
>>740011426Wasn't half the plot of the first one that he's more powerful than Jesse on the basis that he's only like half possessed by the hiss?
>>740007019For 90% off maybe.I didn't like it and dropped it quickly.
>>740007019It's alright, the dlcs are better than the base game imo
>>740010880It's the American Nightmare of the Control series.Quantum Break still needs its American Nightmare in order to get a sequel.
>>740007165He better be back for Resonant
>>740007019For that price, I guess yeah. Gameplay is not good but the rest can hold you till the end.
>>740008628You get to unalive her
>>740011569I didn't like the Foundation. Boring level design. Maybe I was also tired after having put like 50 hours in the base game.
>>740007165it delighted me greatly when i figured out that that's the knife guy from men in tights>>740007019yes, it's great
>>740011871Huh. He's older than I thought.
>>740007019Its okay. For that price, then yeah its worth getting.
>>740011750Having context for this picture now it's pretty sad to think about.
>>740011848That's fair, AWE is definitely the stronger of the 2 I feel, foundation did feel a bit more samey
Is there a mod to change the face of the main character?
>>740011871Looks like he also has a small role in the Dracula parody.
I played it back to back with Quantum Break a little ago and was shocked by how much fun and how interested I was in the story of the "bad one" and how fucking incredibly dull I found Control. The game just did not work for me at all. Didn't care for the setting. Didn't care for the story. Gameplay was just mash powers at enemies that are so far away from the camera they only take up a few pixels. Glad I didn't pay a cent for it. Thanks, Timmy.
>>740010880Character shooters need to have reeealy strong visual designs to entice people to play them, double so for new IP. This one didn't use control aesthetics well enough, looked basic and generic.
>>740012692What's the final install size of quantum break? I heard it's 100+ gigs. I want to play it but that's too much for my connection.
>>740012395apply hammer to your nose bridge
>>740012893I think that would be for consoles because they get to download the live action sections while on PC you have to stream them. And the service was fucking awful when I played. It took about 35 minutes to watch the 20 minute sequences just because of the constant pausing and buffering because their servers couldn't handle the load.
>>740012927Why are you acting so defensively? Maybe she looks like someone I know who I absolutely hate?
The good>Jesse is decent enough as a protagonist, not a girlboss>Most powers are very fun to use, particularly telekinesis, and you can just spam it without worrying about them>Live-action parts are kino>Game looks good in general>Decent plot with cool moments and characters (Athi, the Ashtray Maze, DYNAMITE)The bad>Painfully generic enemies>Gunplay feels bad>"Go there and kill 6 dudes" type of quests that the game remind you of constantly like you give half a shit>As far as SCP inspirations go they basically just took the blacked out documents. All the explanations for the supernatural stuff (the Astral Plane, the Objects of Powers, the fact that it's all tied to Alan) are pointless and I would actually say that it lowers the game's quality for me.Is it worth buying? Yes, it goes for cheap these days and as long as you don't try to be a completionist you'll be fine. The Firebreak spinoff was the worst idea ever and I don't know what they were thinking.Control 2 looks ambitious and I might actually grab it on release if it's a slow month.
>>740007019the actual system is a bit limitedthe scp aspect is quite anemic and disappointing.that said a single run through the game was fairly fun and interesting.but don't bother with the DLCshit gets annoying after that.>>740007165this guy somehow manages to carry a good portion of the game despite being nothing but records you find of him.Control definitely got the big ideas right, but it fumbled a lot on the details.there are a lot of places where it feels great and the atmosphere is hitting nice, but just as many blander bits.Build yourself into chucking rocks at people, don't bother with autism over weapon mods because that part of the game is completely worthless and dogshit.unlock the weapon types, use what works for you, and rely on rock chucking.
>>740012395Just email Remedy to update the character model
If you decide to play, try to stick with it and push through. if you put it down for a bit and try to come back, it looses something
>>740007019The only way to play this is with a trainer or cheat engine, the loot and crafting system is so fucking bad, you are better off just ignoring it altogether
>>740013884no, you don't need any of that.just chuck rocks.
>>740013938I really wish the guns or other powers worked half as well as rock toss. Barrier slamming just doesn't have the damage, all the guns are just filler noise between actually doing damage with rock throw, the possession one takes so long you'll die half the time, and I can't even remember other powers that could provide damage.
>>740014083>I can't even remember other powers that could provide damage.none worth mentioning.its really just chuck rocks
>>740013534Alan has nothing to do with the astral plane. He didn't create it, the hiss, or Jesse. He did set up some events in motion and created/erased some people, but all we really know for sure that he did was:>causing the investigation sector to get destroyed>guiding Jesse to create a synchronicity event (the alarm) which would guarantee his escape in the future>created the hiss chant
>>740013680Damn didn't know she got bogged
>>740014159ThisIt's rock chucking all the way. Shooting your gun is really just something you do while waiting for the cooldown to end.
I hope with AW3 they bring back Saga but have her recasted with some Chinese woman or something. Wake just cannot stop altering her race in his damn books.
>>740007019game held back by a woman protag, imagine how good of a game it would be if the main character were a man like leon or sebastian
>>740011681>>740011681>Quantum Break still needs its American Nightmare in order to get a sequel.Time Breaker DLC in AW2 is the closest thing you'll ever get
Perkele
>>740014159>>740014493I dunno, I was doing significant damage with the magnum and grenade launcher. With upgrades of course.
>>740007165Someone post his beefy bod
>>740014493I disagree. When there's too many enemies, using an explosive gun or doing some headshots with the base weapon feel much faster than trying to abuse your powers. And when some of them are sticking together, using the ground slam obliterates them. Usually yes throwing objects onto enemies is the big cooldown thing, but imo doing headshots is much better.Half the weapon forms fucking suck though, what a waste. Especially the shotgun.
>>740014786be sure to spoiler it for OPhe must earn the right
>>740007165Sam Hyde if he a middle class gay
>>740007019I pirated it and got it for free on epic and still felt ripped off. There were a few good fun moments but 95% of it was a slog. The extremly rare fun parts arent worth suffering throught the rest to see.
>>740007019Kind of neat if you like SCP stuff though I think it doesnt do as good a job at it as it could have. Gameplay is kind of meh. They didn't lean into the modular gun as quickly and early as they should have. For 90% off its not bad though. Every third post about the game is closet trannies losing their shit about the main character's jaw, but its really not bad.
idk why remedy is a game studio and not a movie/tv show studio. gameplay is clearly the weakest part in every game they ever made.
>>740015456I'm waiting for the inevitable Amazon show that casts a black chick as Jesse.
>>740016257But keeps Dylan looking the same
if it's gud, where de porn?
>>740014964sam hyde wishes he had an ounce of his charisma
>>740012860I get what you mean. If they were smart they'd have given you:- Scientist, Faustian curiosity manifest labcoat or hazmat suit makes him stand out- Security guy, clean cut and cool under pressure, think of those South African intercept officers- Office drone, dishevelled and out of his depth, you know the look- Janny, regularly quipping about how they'll be cleaning this up for weeks, can't beat the classic jump/boiler suit for visual identityEach with a distinctive visual flair and personalityInstead everyone looks like a madmax cosplayer with a cobbled together outfit
>>740007019I really enjoyed it. It's 75% standard TPS (unfortunately the "modular gun" concept is just used for normal weapon archetypes, i.e. handgun, shotgun, sniper, rocket launcher) with some fun three dimensional movement and telekinesis, and a great setting. For $4 you absolutely can't go wrong. Also, the game has some of the most entertaining setpieces toward the end of the game that I've encountered in ages.
>>740017485It's kinda shocking they didn't with how good Remedy is at designing characters and making good thematic glue. I'm not gonna say L4D and VT were only good because of their characters, but damn if they didn't provide a strong base for people to latch onto.
