It won't be so great once you will run first game that will run at sub 60fps at 480p (fsr3 on). While it would run better on base ps5 for less than half the price. Totally worth paying $1000 to own the poor right?

No doubt some people will still buy it but I don't see why.
It's a miniITX build with low specs. They put gimmicks on top that it doesn't need. Why the fuck would you need an LED progress bar? Who cares about this gay shit?
Games dislike 8GB VRAM and no, no amount of linux bullshittery (I know there's a tweak for 7.0) is going to make it that much more bearable. And Valve doesn't have a great track record at convincing third parties selling through their store to support their hardware. Squeenix released a trailer for FFVII Rebirth on the Deck and then the game came out, not only was it barely playable performance wise, it was glitchy and needed updates. If someone bothering to put out a big fucking ad for the console isn't doing anything and the status of anti-cheat software is what it is still, with EA even going as far as to actually pull out of existing working solutions rather than give support to linux, I cannot expect any level of proper optimization on newer titles for this machine. They'll act like batman lego developers and tell you that it's completely reasonable to run the game with framegen at 30fps. Because of the high price there won't be enough customers (I mean at least the deck had this "PC gaming on the go" going for it, what does this even have) so there's no reason to support the platform.
I think this is the most pointless shit ever. I'm not even kidding when I say that their Steam Frame is likely to be more successful.
>>

>what's the fucking point then?
It's basically a portable computer. Portable in the sense that you can easily move it around.
That's it.
From what I understand, Valve believes that if it offers a computer compact enough for people to easily set up anywhere, some consumers will get used to using a computer instead of a console in places like the living room, which is good for Valve because it wants to sell more games.

Cloud-based subscription services are gonna be the default in the next few years.

You think it's bad with RAM right now? Mark my words the market will inflate disk storage soon too.

The whites (not just jews) want everyone to be dependent on their platforms with a constant revenue stream that they can charge high enough that the average trumptard can afford (leaving out other necessities like travel, leisure and education), but low enough that the average trumptard won't find the balls to revolt.

This is our future. And it cannot be overstated how much the cuck whites and their jewish enablers are to blame for this.

What makes you think that people aren't using streaming services right now?
All they have to do is lower prices a bit here, offer an exclusive there and convince people it's just way too fucking impractical to run games on local hardware and promise some placebo bullshit for "low latency" "frame prediction" or whatever.
And a good chunk of games are so cinematic, so sluggish that the average normalfag doesn't even notice the delay.
Google did it poorly because they expected everyone to invest in a platform without having a cult following, pay a subscription -and- pay for the games as well. There was no incentive and hardware was cheaper anyways.
These companies are willing to try and fail and try again until they get to dick you if they really want something. And getting cloud gaming to replace local gaming is beneficial for them.
>>
>>740011146
>Mark my words the market will inflate disk storage soon too.
Storage prices are already inflated. Both for SSDs and HDDs.
But streaming vidya us fundamentally unfeasible and impractical for almost all people, it's a completely different technical challenge from streaming music or videos.
You can't buffer ahead, it consumes massive amounts of bandwidth and most people have neither the connection speeds nor a reliable enough router & network adaptor to play without constant or intermittent dropouts.

Sony & Microsoft already have their own cloud services and they've been trying to undercut physical games since Don Matrick
Now we'll probably get some China-based service.

It's pretty funny actually.
>>
>>740012076
It is not the same because it is still now retard proof, still not wakes up from sleep with the controller and uses CEC properly etc. The average PC is still not the same, especially if you need to put it together. There is a reason why gaming laptops got more and more popular and why scam prebuilts exist. The average joe don't want to put together their shit, worry about compatibility and troubleshoot why something doesn't work. The point of the Machine is (was) people rather put up with a weak system and possibly pay more (not double) for convenience. Deck was also popular because it is ready to play out of the box.

If your argument boils down to "you can build something SIMILAR (not the same) for less" you miss the point of the entire thing.
>>
>>740012478
There is nothing hypothetical about the fact the PS5 plays multiplayer games (you know the games that are on the top on every popularity list every month everywhere) and the Machine doesn't because of anti cheat. Linus already tested Cyberpunk and it was less than stellar with upscaling. So don't play this "lol consoles upscale from sub 1080p" because it is mandatory on PCs too.
>>
>>740010216
>Poorfags filtered, Video games are going to be great again.

>Sony & Microslop already have their own cloud services
And they both suck ass.
SONY can't even get streaming from a PS5 to a PC working well enough, on a LAN, it's insane.

I also play with a friend using Sunshine/Moonlight, he's about 150km away, we both have fast broadband, home sysadmin tier routers, just 7ms ping and 3-4ms encoding latency.
Despite the high bandwidth and absolutely ideal conditions and the video quality and latency is still nowhere near the same level as playing locally even on a console and occasionally there are dropouts and hitches.
It's a flawed idea on a technical level and monetising it isn't going to be easy.

If the prices of components were the same as last year one could at least make an argument that it would be a good secondary device.

you can pay a wagie 100 or less to build a pc for you it in less than 2 hours with the windows instalation if you have the components, the pc itself will be better than the Steam machine or consoles because you can use it fore more and you can get almost anything for free (movies, games, music etc), but i guess convenience is better for te average npc

It is my personal opinion that Valve missed a golden opportunity to further capitalise on the Steam Deck's success and lay the groundwork for the Steam Machine.
They should have released a cheaper home console version of the Deck hardware with a higher TDP - it would have been a bit more powerful, and good enough for local game streaming.
Without the screen, battery, controller, speakers etc. it would have been massively cheap and a perfect secondary PC for everyone, but it's too late now.

people seem to forget that valves consumer base is mostly idiots. the amount of people using steam that actually know what a file system is is like, 5%, tops. designing the steam machine to be some sort of tinkerers playtoy with any sort of set up involved would be like valve making a hardcore racing simulation steering wheel set up...for the... zero point zero three percent of gamers who actually do simulation racing. of course the steam machine isnt going to be interesting or useful to anyone who knows how to build their own computer, its not designed for them. this is for the absolute, bottom of the barrel, plug and play target audience.

on top of that, valve doesnt actually care if the machine succeeds, it could be outclassed tomorrow by some other companies design. if nintendo tomorrow comes out with a mini-itx that gets their consumers panties wet, and everyone buys it, and because its a computer...installs....steam on it, valve wins. same shit with the steamdeck
>valve blown the fuck out, the rog ally gigaglopfuck is twice the power at half the price!
>what do you put on it
>well, steam, of course
fucking laughing all the way to the bank, they released the steamdeck and then multiple companies spent millions doing R@D to make better faster devices just to put a direct line to valves bank accounts on it.

>inb4 people think im defending valve or even saying they are good, and not just literally explaining how this shit works in their favor.

infact, id wager the ultimate goal here for the steam machine is to get consumers to wonder "hey, this device is both a console, and a computer. why cant i do this on the ps5 and xbone and switch 2?". then to start thinking "well, i could get a ps5, xbone or switch 2, but this steam machine is both a console, AND a pc, its (to a dumb consumer) two devices in one! the value!"
then, (and it wont happen because nintendo/microsoft/sony isnt that dumb), scare the competition into going "hey, wait, you can get steam on the xbox/ps5/switch as well, our consoles are twice the value as well!"

then, suddenly, valve doesnt have to do fucking anything, its other companies doing all the work of making better, faster, cheaper console hardware and....slapping yet again, steam, and a direct line to valves bank account, right onto their competitions own hardware.
>>
>>740019138
actually it gets even smarter the more i think about it. they dont even need to make a big dent in any of the consoles, just a tiny one, since they are all owned by shareholders who only want to see line go up, and the companies are legally obligated to do what profits the shareholders. all they gotta do is convince a few dumb-asses to fuck their future, chasing next quarters profit.
>hey this stock only went up 1% instead of 2% this year, this is valves fault, you gotta get your shit together and make it that 2% this year. put steam on it to improve sales this quarter NOW NOW NOW"
and bam its all fucking over, no one will ever want to go back to a console WITHOUT steam, and viola, valve gets a few hundred million devices with that direct line to valves bank account added to their market share
>>
>>740019383
FUCK and thats why they are pushing proton and linux so fucking hard because nintendo/sony isnt going to put windows on their device, pay the license to put steam on it, but linux, no license for that.

>>
>>740019138
I think your point falls flat when the Steam Machine's going to be $1,000. The normies you are talking about are not going to spend $1,000 on a PC less powerful than a Playstation 5 while having to rebuild their library if they switch ecosystems. The Steam Machine is a consumer device priced at enthusiast levels.
