Are these really low playtime numbers? They look average to me. Personally, my account has lower numbers. I thought the people who had 300+ hours in a game were rare.

thats absurdly short. Anything less than a couple hundred hours is a joke. Though some like gta and dishonoured is pretty standard for a single playthrough
>>
>>740010613
Most people can play like for an hour during weekdays and some longer sessions on weekends, 30 hours/month is like nolife tier gaming assuming a regular 9/5 + wife/kids

How does anyone actually know their gaming hours? With so much going on, don't people leave their games running when they go take care of family things, answer the phone, go to the bathroom, listen to the music, or just get distracted by 4chan?

I dont get it. Whats the issue here? I've been playing games since the NES and have played about 1000 games and 90% of the games I've played would be under 50 hours. Very few of them would I have played for over 50 hours and I'd say only about 10 have I played for over 100 hours and even then it would still be under 200 hours. The only people who play games for 1000s of hours are the people playing shit like MMOS and online games and gaas games and whatnot. If all you play is single player games its unlikely you have played many games for more than 100 hours.
>>
>>740014139
>If all you play is single player games its unlikely you have played many games for more than 100 hours.
Unless you play a lot of heavily moddable SP games.
Or you play lots of RPGs.
I've got almost 20 SP games on my Steam account with over 100 hours of playtime, and most of them are RPGs, heavily moddable, or Asian games.
Hell, I've put almost 200 hours into Crimson Desert and that game's barely over 2 months old.

Just looking through the games released in 2026 that I played.

In Resident Evil Requiem I have 26 hours and im done for now.

In Pragmata I have 30 hours and im done for now.

In Screamer I have 27 hours and im done for now.

In Saros I have 10 hours and still playing.

In Forza Horizon 6 I do have a larger
chunk, 49, but that is a live service game in some ways. Rotating challenges and multiplayer and whatnot. Still playing.

I never understood these crazy huge playtime people post. And when I brought this up I was called a "casual tourist engaging in hype and vibes based gaming". Thats fine I guess. I do love a vibe. Im fine without the hardcore label. Maybe you're just a casual like me.

How the fuck do you not get bored??? As I said I've been playing games since the NES and have played at least 1000 games if not more and hardly any of them would be over 100 hours as I generally just finish the story/campaign or whatever and move on.

>>740018026
The person in question presents themselves as a serious authority on video games while playing very few games and the games he can prove he has played have relatively low play times for how he presents himself. I would expect several 100+ hour games, especially something like Civ where even casual players will rack up 100+ hours naturally. I would not expect the random average normie gamer to have 100+ hour games. I would expect someone presenting themselves as some kind of cultural authority on "how games should be" to actually be playing them extensively though. He neither has depth or breadth going for him.
>>
>>740010613
There's like 2, maybe 3 good games in there.

>>740018026
only having 24 games above 7 hours and no games over 50 is very casual
I started playing a new rpg last week and if I was him it would already be the 7th most played game of all time.
>>
>>740018412
Which do I have depth or breadth as someone who has played 1000 games but almost all of them for just the main story/campaign? I just checked my steam and Civ 5 is actually one of the very few games I have over 100 hours in but its still under 200 hours.

The issue isn't that you played games 1000 games and most would be under 50 hours.
The issue is that he sorted his library by playtime and not a single game exceeds 45 hours, you retarded troglodyte. Even games chock-full of content like Skyrim and San Andreas clock at 10/19 hours. He barely even scratched the surface of those games, let alone came anywhere close to finishing them.

My longest game time is 13.7 hours. How the hell do people have the time to put hundreds if not thousands of hours into a game?
>>
>>740014139
The issue is that everyone who actually cares about video games will have several that are several hundred hours or so. JRPGs are also a minimum of 60-100 hours to clear in a lot of cases if you touch side content. There's tons of games out there that are also straight up 50+ hours even if you just want to clear the story + side quests, not even 100% them.

Breadth for sure. I don't have a ton of games over 100 hours but I think a healthy mix of games beaten + games deeply understood is important. I invest more time into games I love until I get bored. I come back to them from time to time and put another playthrough or two down and that racks up a lot of hours. If you never replay older games that you loved or dedicate serious hours to any specific game then you're not really building a strong understanding of vidya. Which is fine, if you don't care about that but I assume someone that has played 1000 hours would have at least some games they engaged deeply with either in one hyper-fixation or from replaying it multiple times across years. Having a breadth of experience is better than nothing but it's not going to help you understand games beyond a surface level.

One thing to keep in mind is that steam counts even if a person just leaves the game open on the main menu. I work with a guy who does this and his Steam account says he has thousands of hours in all his games. In reality, he has played very little and usually just gets distracted by his wife and kids and forgets the game is open.

I dunno, I think if my list in just the past year looks identical to your TOP MOST PLAYED GAMES EVER, you're a bit of a poser. If you only have three whole ass games with over 30 hours in them, I don't know what you're doing, especially since this guy's library is primarily 'forever' games. Most games in his profile are things you're meant to play forever, but it's obvious that he just dicked around and maybe idled in most of them and then never finished.

If your job is reviewing video games and such, that might give you less time to pour hours into certain games, that's if those kinds of games are appealing to you in the first place. For modern gaming my only big chunk of time is from Diablo II. After that it is video game compilations, and singular games often times have a play time of 50 hours or less. Some done at around 9 hours or less as well.

This is an extremely low amount of hours. These are his top played games. He doesn't have a single game at over 100 hours, the long games like Skyrim he has only 10. He's a casual gamer. He probably knows very little about the titles with actual information to know. So is he weird? No, he's normal. But he is just normal. Also notably he has like no multiplayer titles, normally that's where we'll see over a hundred, up to over a thousand hours of play.
>>
>>740023041
Yeah that's kinda crazy considering you have 30 ways in a month. You could play an hour a day, or you could play 2 hours a day per weekend day and still hit 16 and get the rest of the 15 somewhere. I played Halo for 3 hours last night with my gf and roommate it's not weird to find time to do something you like
>>
>>740011317
I have a full time job, cook all my meals, 1 hour of daily commute (driving so no games), and a reasonable (but lets be real not super gregarious) social life. I still manage to get several hours on weekdays and usually several severals of hours on at least one weekend day if I can secure one of those fantastic "no responsibilities" days (at least once a month I'd estimate). For the record, I've spent the past two weeks playing a new to me game on my preferred console and I have 75 hours clocked already, as well as about 10 on another game I started, and an hour or two on a new release I checked out on a whim.
