This just crossed my mind: female V sounds way better than male V. Not saying male V is bad or anything, but he sounds kind of emotionless. It feels like he uses the same deadpan tone every time he speaks.
I have played through the game with both versions of V and frankly they both sound equally like shit, neither actor has very good range. Personally I found female V's voice to be incredibly grating. Also the written dialogue doesn't really give you enough opportunities to be a sort of punchy, quippy merc so if you went into it thinking you were gonna be some badass street samurai John McClane you're shit out of luck.

Those with issues with the voices should consider the >Polyglot V modThere are options to fully change to other languages too, but there's also an option to have V speak English (or whatever native language) most of the time and then switch into other languages he or she knows like Japanese, Spanish etc. with people who can speak/understand it. There's even a kiroshi optical subtitle effect.
