Is this game any good? All ive read about is about romance and sex. Is the gameplay any good? I assume its like divinity 2 but better. Are the stories/sidequests any good? is the writing not reddit-tier? I really liked Divinity 2 but it was pushing it when it comes to writing.I ask because i just finished kingdom come 2 and i held myself back because i thought the game was gonna be filled with jews, blacks and gays and it wasnt the case at all so i wonder if baldur's gate 3 is the same.

Romance is actually a very tiny portion of the game. I would argue any BG2 romance subplot between base game and expansion completely dwarfs BG3's romantic storylines.The biggest issues of the game are>the UI is legit abhorrent, one of the worst interfaces i've seen in CRPG. Your inventory will get clogged with useless shit within 2 hours, you regularly need to stop and sort it from trash you're going to accumulate, each character has a separate inventory too which only adds to the clusterfuck, and there are no bags of holding to make inventory management simpler>likewise, party control is ass, the chain-unchain system is dogshit compared to simple selector picks in other modern CRPG, >overall the quality of life feels worse than how it was in BG2, for example you need to manually check EVERY SINGLE BARREL in a barrel stack for items, in BG2 the stack usually had a single inventory>the game would flow significantly better if you started in actual city of Baldur's Gate and act 1/2 content was moved to later game, it feels weird to get to the first real settlement 50 hours in, near level cap>speaking of level cap, it's too low, but you can easily remedy it with mods>the writing quality is just usual Larian stuff, some subplots are fairly satisfying, the story at large is extremely meh and only the female party members + Astarion are likeable

>>740012564The writing is shit and all the characters are unlikeable, but the fact that you're allowed to be evil and kill wholesome NPCs (and player characters) helps to counterbalance that, although it's still hard to care about the story. You can say no to the romance, but I recommend only using female companions because the men are all faggots. Or just play solo. The gameplay is pretty fun.
it's good. as a caster it was frustrating you could use 2 or 3 "good" spells per day. I never wanted to risk missing a quest or event by resting too much so you'd be using your shitty spells to clear everything out.probably my fault for just not knowing which quests might progress without me...
