How can Valve spend 8+ years working on a game, release it for free, include no in game store, Valve cannot make any money at all with Deadlock, and yet it's more successful than games like Marathon.
>>740022458Because it isn’t actually out yet >but I can play it right no-It’s not actually out yet
>>740022458Valve are the good guys
>>740022458embezzling funds from the sales of other devs' games
>>740022458>include no in game storeNot going to be like that for very long.>Valve cannot make any money at all with DeadlockThey're going to milk the shit outta this.
>>740022458Valve rarely does marketing for anything anyways. They already know that if they make a good game it'll spread through word of mouth. That and there's already a cult following around Valve that will eat up anything they make. Except Artifact I guess
>>740022458When you make a billion dollars a month split between selling other peoples games and selling boxes to gay German kids for in game knives, I'm not so sure that making yet more money is the primary target. I think Valve wants influence atm
>>740022458Such a steaming pile of shit this gaym is
>>740022695Even Artifact has a cult of that one megafaggot.
>>740022732>When you make a billion dollars a month split between selling other peoples games and selling boxes to gay German kidsSony does the same thing. They have a store with more users than Steam, take the same %, and sell loads of PS5s to gay german kids. Why can Valve make successful online games and Sony cannot?
>>740022854Valve has a history of making good games, Sony doesn't. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say MECHANICALLY dota underlords and artifact were good games.Requiring you buy into a card game is retarded, and autochess fucking died, but for what they were, they were good games made by people clearly passionate. Sony and all those other retards don't actually give a fuck and have an almost antagonistic approach to their consumers
>>740022854I think it's because Sony has never had any vision whatsoever. They're always in a follower position and that's where they find success, copying other people. That's worked up until now because because development times were shorter. Now they chase trends and they're like 5 years late to the party.
>>740022458It's not out. Also judging by dota2 and csgo it will be fulled with lootboxes, gambling, and microtransactions soon enough.
>>740022458Valve is allowed to spend 8+ developing games that might never turn a profit because they are a private company
>>740023352If it has the new CS2 cosmetic toggle, I'm in. Dota2 is destroyed, the cosmetics ruin the readability
>>740023517Correction: turns out the cosmetic Disabler was a big ho-ax up 'air
I haven't play in 2 weeks.Yoshi piss we need another major update now.
>>740023982It just got an update yesterday p-sure
>>740023514It is good for investors to spend 8 years making a game. That is money
>>740022458How can Valve spend 8+ years on a game and still clearly have no idea where they want to head with it and rework it every couple of months
>>740024106Anon said a major update.Course this is a problem with having a game that relies on major updates for attention is game devs can't just shit those out every other month. Or at least valve can't.
>>740024909The reworking is part of the game. Dota 2 gets rebalances every few months and has done so for a decade. Nobody wants the same meta forever.
>>740025189If the meta is something that's fun I'm pretty sure people would rather the game stuck with that.
>>740022583>It’s not actually out yetit doesn't matter, dota 2 already had items before it fully released>>740022683>They're going to milk the shit outta this.tsmt
>>740024909Reworking everything is how games eventually become goodTF2, portal 2, and even half life 1 were all majorly scrapped and totally rebuilt at least onceDevelopers that aren't valve don't have time/budget to rework everything multiple times, and their games suck
Flopping tranny deadcock.
>>740025172That urn shit was a major update.
>>740024909Tell ya what, if Valve farted out deadlock in its current form right now, it would be 1000 times better than a fully realized Neon Prime
>>740023517
>>740025409Portal 2 is a weird case of valve thinking that building the game entirely from scratch would be easier than just changing the name to something that didn't have Portal in it.It's a mix of valve being blessed with being able to afford to start over but also being incompetent enough to have to make these mistakes in the first place.
>funded by steam>can make their games without shareholders breathing down your neck>even in "closed" alpha stage, it's getting weekly semi high quality tournaments I only hope for the best for this game
>>740022458Deadlock has been getting worse with every patch since March though, the game is currently on trajectory to be dead on arrival.
>>740022458I'm buying the Ivy and Wraith coomer skins the second they're available.I am not ashamed. This one's on me, Icefraud.
>>740022458>hit PLAY!>GPU goes bananas, full jet engine>uninstallyea, fuck that.
>>740025916how so?
>>740022458if deadlok succeeds it will only be on the back of skin speculation and jews the game is 100% dogshit they don't even know what they are doing
>>740026141If you talk to the people who have been playing it for a while now, most will say that the March patch was when the game took an extreme turn for the worse, and every patch afterwards has been making the game even worse.Bad additions to the roster, changes that are incomprehensible, buffing characters who didn't need it until they have a 60% winrate across all ranks, over-emphasis on the movement system in the game despite it not being particularly good, and objectives that are not fun to play around despite the game being an objective-focused shooter. The recent changes they made to the Urn, one of the side objectives, have been universally reviled by everyone at all skill levels that actually play around the objectives, to the point that top tier players are saying they don't want to play the game anymore because of how boring the urn is to play around... mostly because fights just come down to Marvel Rivals tier gameplay of 'spam all our AoEs on the objective'
>>740026310do objectives even matter in dealock? In dota destroying a tower specially early on is huge because teh opponent is no logner safe when farming and you can enter the enemy jungle without punishment in deadlock objectives dont seem to do shit and after certain point everyone just deadballs around no one lanes farms or does anything dotaish in particular
>>740026520Objectives are a big deal in Deadlock, at least the Walkers, Urn, and Mid-boss are.Walkers give you an extra item slot (3 of your 12 slots are locked until you kill the 3 walkers) and Urn gives an obscene amount of souls + a free level to everyone on your team. Mid-boss basically guarantees that you either take your next objective uncontested or win the game. The main issue is that all the objectives in the game are made out of tissue paper and die way too fast, so you can't really fight over them.
>>740026520Walkers used to be important when urn dropoff could be next to a walkerNow only kidnappers (doorman, holiday) care about walkers. Otherwise urn is more important
>>740026801Yeah walkers are less important now since the Urn is the only objective that actually matters, since once you secure 2-3 urns you can just take all the walkers uncontested due to your massive 20k+ soul lead.
>>740026520Yeah, they're massively important. Towers are weak, that's all. Urn gives tons of money and mid-boss is vital to ending games because otherwise base sieges are stupendously risky. Walkers are really important for slots.
>>740026784>>740026801so everything is superficial and forced it matters because valve said so not because its organic to the game like taking towers in dotai hate valve so fucking much
>>740022458Well, it’s good for a start unlike Maratroon.
>>740026948Towers are piss weak in Deadlock and, I am not exaggerating, will die to 2, maybe 3, creep waves crashing into them. Guardians (tier 1s) are so weak that you are allowed to parry a melee attack they do and it just shuts them off for several seconds. Even then, they do such a pathetic amount of damage that diving people during laning is comically safe, especially with how OP movement in the game is.Tier 2 towers, Walkers, are only dangerous if you get into melee range on them because they can't be parried and do a big stomp that does a chunk of your HP and then stuns you.Of course most of the time Walkers instead shoot a shitty laser that does no damage. It's way too safe and easy to dive in Deadlock in general.
>>740025780Yeah I seens it, really got my imagination running wahld!
>>740027083No, they had a good start with Deadlock and then proceeded to piss it all away.
im vaguely curious but needing to be invited to play has already filtered me
>>740027580Invites are very easy to get. You could post your SteamID in this thread and someone would add you so you could get invited.
>>740027696nah, im a schizoid that prefers anonymity
>>740027580Post your steam ID and I'll send you an invite
>>740027580Of you are too socially inept to get an invite, it might be too difficult for you to get a mic and say "hey team let's do an objective instead of farm" after killing 3 enemy gamers
>>740022458Marathon is a better game than Deadlock actually. But Dota mogs both.>>740022814Artifact was a great card game if it weren't for the pack Judaism.
>Marathon is a better-no.
>>740028175Marathon can't be played on Linux so that's a big Nozeroni
>>740027409Why is this a problem? Fighting is fun. Hiding behind towers is not fun. This encourages more fighting.
>>740028175>Artifact was a great card game if it weren't for the pack Judaism.no it wasnt. it was dogshit. Marvel snap is what artifact should have been. Valve doesnt know how to make games
>>740028175Deadlock chads play Escape from Duckov and Quasimorph for their extraction shooter needs.
>>740028417Because, as I said before, it disproportionately favors characters with high mobility that can get in, stun the tower, kill someone, and leave. There's no risk to tower diving and only rewards. On top of that, you have to babysit every structure in the game or else they die to the myriad of characters that can splitpush with 100% safety due to their gigantic teleport abilities. It simply isn't fun.
>>740024607>8 years without any returnsThink of the quarterly earnings report though
>>740028818Nta but I think the lanes/towers/creeps need to be changed a lot, such that whatever new model doesn't resemble Dota as much.I don't know the answer, but I know I prefer brawl over the base game
It really feels like urn changes are always so they can see if other game modes can fit. Right now, it seems they are experimenting with a CTF/KOTH hybrid.
>>740028992The base game has 5-10 minute queue times for matchmaking, and despite that the matches are fucking horrendous and unbalanced. I am curious to see what the split is between the main mode and brawl, since I feel like most people aren't playing the main mode anymore.>>740029284Or, more likely, they are just flailing around and making retarded changes for no reason, like they have been for the past several months.
>>740029284>>740029316To be fair, Urn has always been a thorn in the side of balancing. Conceptually it should have good comeback mechanics built into it, but there is no way to balance it so that the comeback mechanics can be used without the other team just continuing to bumrush anyone who tries to use said comeback mechanics, especially with certain team comps.
>>740028453It wasn't designed by anyone at Valve, they got that Magic guy whose name I forgot.Artifact is an interesting oddity in how it worked.Positives:>it is a shockingly accurate adaptation of a Dota match into a TCG (and that's neat if you know Dota)Negatives:>it is a shockingly accurate adaptation of a Dota match into a TCG (it takes forever and gets tedious)
>>740029419Urn should be removed since it doesn't work as a comeback mechanic at all, it simply is a way for a team that wins a fight or is already ahead to secure their advantage and make comebacks even less possible.
>>740029316Idk how much of an outlier or commonality I am but 3 15-20 minute matches appeal to me more than 1 45-60 minute match. Don't get me wrong I get Dota and its appeal of the slowbuild into big beefy high damage fights, but I don't have the time or interest for it as much as the kinda neat roguelike roulette all teamfight mode
>>740029420They had the guy but it was worked on by valve too. After it crashed and burned they fired the dude and valve devs fully took over however at valve if project aren't profitable the employees drop them because they would get less bonuses so they ended up dropping it altogetherim tired of those pieces of shit deflecting all the blame from everything bad they do>>it is a shockingly accurate adaptation of a Dota match into a TCG (and that's neat if you know Dota)no it wasnt in the least. i even think it was kinda gacha oriented given the obscene amount of rng it had
>>740029732>gacha oriented given the obscene amount of rng it hadThe amount of times that in the base game that my attack target was a useless creep instead of the hero wrecking my shit made me rage.
How do i counter graves bros she is too strong.
main problem is what type of audience are they trying to get?dota uncs are losing reaction speed every day and mainly stuck to simple run and gun shooters, while zoomers dont want to feel responsible for anything they just want to run into each other and brawllll
>>740029862Smite players who feel like they were gypped with the only meaningful change being the camera angle and Hi-Res fucking up (again)
>>740029840Shmove around the zombies and fucking hit her
What are some builds that are disgusting in Street Brawl but don't feel as powerful in the regular game?Bomb paradox for sure.
I love Silver.
>>740023517>CS2 cosmetic toggleWhat? You can disable the fag skins now??
>>740029639Most Deadlock games in the main mode last like 20-40 minutes depending on how bad of a stomp it is, since the snowballing in this game is extreme even compared to dota.
>>740030281You say this but most every game I play is loaded with players who cannot just end it and it ends up going up to 75 minutes
>>740030281in dota at some point added comeback mechanics which ruined the entire balance of the game because in one team wipe the team behind would get even and given heroes peaked at different stages of the game it ruined everything. With 6.84 they changed the entire distribution of gold and experiecne and made it so teams couldnt get ahead and fighting was the optimal strat throught out the whole game. Expect they are going to shit on deadlock
>>740029967>the zombies>not the 1500 skulls that are up>schmoove around auto aim while youre being pursued because she doesnt need to fear death with all that shit going on for her.Type of dickhead that says "just shoot" Silver
>>740025780ive actually wanted this since theyve introduced skins and im pretty sure you can do it, but its like a reverse skinchanger and therefore vac-bannable
>>740030686>I let graves build up an army and now Idk what to doIdk then, I guess you could always lose and blame everyone but yourself, what are you even asking? >I'm 28 minutes in and fed the enemy team, how do I win>don't do that>OMG EASY FOR YOU TO SAY, DICKHEAD!!!
>>740030583Yeah that's already how Deadlock is, they hyper-buffed Trophy Collector, which just gives you free money for being near people when they die, and now the entire game revolves around just endless brawling around the urn.
The creature
>>740029862Idk cause its not a Hero Shooter, I got memed into thinking it was one when theres like no overlap with TF2 or Overwatch yet I guess they still want that crowd cause of Street Brawl and those Urn changes to get more active team fightsI just feel like going for two seperate audiences is gonna be a disaster in the long run
>>740022458>Successful It hasn't made any money
>>740026085time to upgrade from your 2060
I was actually really enthusiastic to play it, until the doorman nerf, now it kinda looks like they gonna take the Rust approach to balancing, aka, nerf anything fun to appease the tryhards because it messes with their precious meta, and I don't feel like investing into the game if that's gonna be the case
>>740022458>include no in game storeThis shit is about to receive TF2 levels of monetization, my guy. Get ready to open those crates for unlocking a Scout skin for Doorman.
>>740032776Doorman is still really strong and has probably spent more time being hilariously broken in the last 6 months then he's been weak.Shit, they randomly gigabuff characters CONSTANTLY. They literally just sent Graves to the moon and only started walking back some of it because she was pushing 60% wr. The literal autoaim minion spam character.
>>740032997They nerfed the FUN out of doorman. All they needed to do was significantly lower the door range to make kidnapping less egregious. Carting people into your fountain from the mid boss pit is just retarded. But to balance that our they slapped all the damage out of him past 5 minutes, and they gave him a bullshit door closing restriction. Now he feels like utter ass to play, and the only thing he is any good at in pubs is launching somebody across the map every couple of minutes. He isn't fun anymore.
>>740022458>How can Valve spend 8+ years working on a gameIt wasn't always deadlock. It was a few other games first.>release it for free,It's not out yet. It's still just a private playtest. Getting access isn't hard, but still private.>include no in game storeGame's not out yet.>Valve cannot make any money at all with DeadlockValve prints money with steam and the game isn't out yet. They're also a private company so they can do whatever the fuck they want.>and yet it's more successful than games like Marathon.Extraction shooters are a niche genre that isn't too popular and has a laundry list of problems. Bungie is also going down the drain as all the people that made bungie bungie left ages ago.
>>740031863the fucking... the fucking the... the thing
>>740022458>Mid-Late game>Do LITERALLY anything>Entire enemy team pulls up like the fucking Avengers hounds you down and kills you for even thinking about doing the objective>Meanwhile, teammates are either waiting to do the same to the enemy or just farming soulsTerrible game.
>>740033149That's the problem with Deadlock's design and balancing of the heroes as a whole. Well over half the cast are just... not fun to play against, at all. Doorman is probably at the apex of 'this character is miserable to play against'.So of course people are going to clamor for nerfs for them. I kinda have a hard time disagreeing with this desire, since Doorman is just flat out not enjoyable to play against in any situation at all.
>>740024909That's just how Valve have worked for years now.>infinite money from the literal golden goose that is Steam>privately owned so no external pressure from parisitic investor class to make line go up every quarterIt's a wholy unique position in the industry that affords them the luxury of fucking around with pet projects all day.Probably annoying as shit internally though because having an excess of both time and money means more things are arbitrarily dictated by office politics and the whims of leadership.
>>740031863Lil' freak
>>740027580Go to steam's community hub for deadlock and post in one of the many invite threads in the discussions tab.
>>740034272It's funny to think there are probably valve employees who are as sick of the company's shit as the rest of us. There's got to be at least one guy in there who got to feel like the smuggest fucker out because he knew how much of a mistake MYM would be.
>>740034013>not fun to play against,Thats a good thing generally speaking. The more the guy im playing against suffers the more fun it is. If you don't get it you don't get it.Doorman is completely out of fucking whack of where he should be though. The only fucking way to play doorman useful is to be a kidnap fag non stop, no other playstyle is as viable, and its all because they buffed the shit out of the door range to make kidnapping possible from almost anywhere on the map
>>740022458Valve did the exact same thing with Dota 2 and it turned out fine, I don't see why Deadlock would be any different. They'll add a store at some point after the game goes into open beta and that will be that.
>>740034558I know you're shitposting, but no, making characters miserable to play against doesn't work. Seven has been at the top of the winrates for what, like a year now? You barely hear anyone complain about that though, because he's fun to play against.
>>740022458Basically it's the same as epic launching a store and running it for 8 years without it ever turning a profit. They're using money from other ventures to fund their experiments.
>>740023352Valve grew Steam by undercutting on price first with the Orange Box, then by making TF2 free to play. What if f2p no mtx is the next step
>>740034638Dota 2 was following a tried and tested blueprint much more closely than Deadlock is. Also as far as "turn out fine" goes you definitely get the horror stories with the game that valve seem to be trying to avoid Deadlock being a repeat of.
>>740034785You don't get it, you probably never will get it.
>>740025780Why does this manage to be such an unheard of feature? Is it because game devs realise a significant enough portion of their playerbase actually want this that it would hurt their profits for selling cosmetics?
>>740034537What is MYM?
>>740035109No, anon, making people miserable isn't the point of a game.
>>740035320nvm
>>740031863>wife
>>740035109NTA but playing something specifically because you know it pisses the other player off does seem like a red flag to me. Red flag that the thing is probably going to get nerfed (and what do you know, that happened with Doorman) but also a red flag that people on the whole are going to get sick of the game if it's not dealt with and valve will probably get sick of the fanbase for maintaining that attitude (what happened with TF2).
>>740022649Seriously, this.>get 30% of revenue from all games, even if you didn't help make them in anywayIt's free money forever. The fact they refuse to sell their hardware for cheap is a sham when they're drowning in leech money.
>IT IS A SUCCES-It Flopped.
>>740029862second part is me cause the movement surfing/shooting makes me kind of want to play but I dont give a fuck about the Moba parts like creep farming, towers or memorizing Hero Item builds and Counter builds for each character
>>740034785I mean I can get that, is just that they had this really unique character, with a really unique gameplay, and they nerf him for what? A bunch of people who adapt for the situation? I just such a waste
>>740035938Having portals isn't a super unique mechanic, and it was being used in the most obnoxious way possible most of the time (carting someone into a walker/spawn room so they instantly die).It wasn't fun to deal with, it basically meant that middle lane had to be ignored for most of the game due to Doorman.>>740035549This anon gets it. With how bad TF2's balance is though, and the state that sniper is allowed to be in and has always been allowed to be in, I don't expect Deadlock to be getting good balance basically ever.
>>740025189>Nobody wants the same meta forever.Counter-Strike fags went nuclear when Valve changed how reloading works.
>>740035819Careful, guys. He has a steam chart. Unaware of such contents like "waiting for the full game", "burned out" and "playing another game"
>>740022458The average Valve employee makes millions of dollars a year doing absolutely nothing thanks to Steam and cosmetics. The fact they're actually working at all is shocking, since they don't need to.

>>740036674Deadlock is in closed beta, not public, and you play for feedback.Dota is 10 years ahead.
>>740037527Are you like under 18? Dota had a closed beta exactly like Deadlock, they are following the same formula they used with Dota. The chart I posted shows the beta years side by side. It is a disaster when you compare them.
WHERE IS THE NEW MAJOR PATCH AIIIIEEEEEEEEE
>>740037229Buddy look at the steam charts, they are the closed beta years of each game side by side. Dota 2 had steady growth during its beta and Deadlock looks like a game on life support bleeding players and never recovering its peak player count.
>>740037913Do steam graph posters actually read the graphsWhat am I saying of course they don't lmaoThis was the active players before the big patchNotice how the playerbase has doubled. Same thing before the first 6 hero update came out. Playerbase hovered around 15k, afterwards it was a consistent 30k.Now tell me my friend, doesn't that imply a consistent growth trend after every update?
>>740037814The next patch is going to be even worse than the last several, why get your hopes up?
>>740037793Dota beta was released on valves terms. Dedlock was leaked by a tranny fortress faggot
>>740028175>Marathon is a better game than Deadlock actually.
>>740038242Valve could easily have kept the seal tight on deadlock's access. The leak also basically happened because valve's attitude on keeping it a secret was insanely relaxed to begin with. I mean if getting an invite was as easy as it proved to be how they hell was it going to stay secret? In any case Icefrog/Yoshi already likens how they're handling deadlock to how they handled dota 2.
>>740038242>>740039437And Dota was essentially already a released game for an entire decade before Dota 2.

>>740043967People dont use teh skins because they have quality, the more you used it the more it degrades. When you go to steam market to buy a cs skin you get multiple prices based on the status
>>740042802Souls in deadlock aren't even human most of the time. They're just insentient soul stuff, like a little blob of ectoplasm. Human souls would be something closer to Vindicta or the Sinclaires.
>>740022583>Because it isn’t actually out yet >NOOOO DON'T CRITICIZE THE HECKING TRILLION DOLLAR COMPANY Tranny COPE,
>>740022458The gameplay and mechanics are amazing. The character designs in this game make me want to fucking vomit, so I unfortunately can't play this game.
>>740047208>what the fuck is thisThat's a block out model for the 2024 version. Ivy looks like this now.
bro posting a model the game doesn't use anymore LOL whos bro trying to convince
>>740024607its not good for quarterly earning reports which means its not good for investors because the entire business of investment is pump and dump scams
>>740047637Next he'll try to post viscous or vyper. God forbid the game thats in alpha uses temporary models.
>>740045093>When you go to steam market to buy a cs skin you get multiple prices based on the statusIt's just ownership, not usage in matches.
>>740022458>2 years later game is still invite onlywhy tho
>DEIdlock
>>740022458it will be monetized the same way as dota2 once it's fully released.
Deadlock is the right way to make a GAAS game these days desuMaybe not having the alpha get leaked but just a long slowburn before primetime
>>740043876I'll give you GoG, but they're relegated to resurrecting old dead games which I appreciate very much being an older fag. Nobody is going to GoG for any newer games. The only other thing GoG has is they're less restrictive on the surface it seems for nsfw games too.
When do you think they'll start doing official skins? And what will happen to all the mod slop?
>>740050594Like a year and a half from now
>>740050594>When do you think they'll start doing official skins? On release or its first major update after>And what will happen to all the mod slop? They shouldn't touch it. They'll just make better skins than coomerbait and models ripped from other games.
>>740029840I think you disarm her so she can't mark you and her skulls x2 don't immediately attack you.
>>740047430Holy shit are you serious? This is even worse. What IS this thing?
>>740049083valve is slow as shit and has no reason to speed up development since they have infinite job security
>>740051886my wife
Hideous artstyle
>>740037814it'll be a while; no one is pushing the payload.
>>740051982Yep. Concord ass designs.
>>740052054whenever i see this banner all i can think of is the nazi symbol
>>740052165I think, who the fuck wants to play this character? He has the essence and gravitas of fucking spongebob squarepants.
>>740052165yeah lol
>>740052413FUCKING KEK!
fym release>This game is not yet available on Steam
>>740052351Lmao Doorman MOGS most recent hero shooter heroesIf he came out alongside the OG Overwatch cast hed be a favoritr
>>740052653Nah, he's a wagie, and it's lame.
>>740052653Many overwatch designs are gross too.
>>740052351I don't like playing as or against Doorman I find him annoying but his design was so good it brought a lot of attention to deadlock from those who don't play it. Saying his design isn't good is pure contrarianism
>>740051886She's a gargoyle that came to life and was adopted by spaniards.
>>740052765That thing might be working a service job, but calling it a wagie is a gross misunderstanding of where you are in relation to it.
>>740045463
>>740022583This somehow shields the game from criticism?I can play it, anyone can easily access it. It's out. Stop being so defensive
>>740054907Yeah, because any criticism you have can be completely invalidated at any given point in time. Case and point: the urn. A month ago you may have said the urn is a shit mechanic. Now the urn is a shit mechanic, but for very different reasons.
>>740055039The matchmaking has been dogshit for 3 years straight now and they never addressed it despite daily complains and actually sensible suggestions and ideas.Matchmaking is the most fundamental part of a multiplayer game and they haven't touched it for 3 years. How long are you supposed to wait? Cope.
Never get tired of hearing "MINA HA, RISE UP AND TAKE WHAT YOU DESERVE"
>>740022458
>>740059391I want to facefuck mina like that one chick from facial abuse
>>740039437And now they have their super secret testing branch. After public got their hands on the files, it was over. No point in hiding it anymore as people would've just hosted DL themselves
>>740057812multiplayer games died the day they decided to force obscured matchmaking, only tf2 kinda hanged on for awhile since it did have the serve browser option
>>740039437>I mean if getting an invite was as easy as it proved to be how they hell was it going to stay secret?Pretty easily, before Valve opened the floodgates the invite were curated, all they had to do was not hand them out to unprofessional retards (read: some manchild youtuber). As an example, the City of Heroes private server was a secret for years and this was just random people enjoying a videogame, not someone invited to a private playtest by one of the biggest companies in the vidya sphere. He's lucky to have only gotten a slap on the wrist (and even that is unconfirmed), last time Gayben brought the hammer on a leaker the police was involved.
>>740022458Wait for Riot's version. It will be more popular and successful as seen with League, Riftbound and Teamfight Tactics. Literally Riot just needs to wait and see what Valve makes and copy it.
>>740060767funny how you didnt mention valorant lmao
>>740030175Bomb paradox is meta on normals right now because she just drops three circles on the urn and auto wins the fight.
>>740060806Valorant is unironically better than CS2. CS1.6 > Legacy/Classic (FUCK VALVE) > Source > Valorant >>>>>>>>>Abysmal Dogshit > CSGO > CS2
>>740060806Valorant and that fighting game they tried to make
>>740063829no one gives a fuck about fighting games
>>740063963Especially ones made by Riot, it would seem.
>>740060698Wait it's Uncle Dane who leaked the game? Fucking lol I thought it was a hack or ex employee.
>>740057812How do we fix matchmaking without queue times inflating? Honestly I think better comeback mechanics are a better idea.
>>740065501It's more like "uncle dane was streaming the game to his discord e-kittens and one of them screenshotted and posted everything online"
>>740066231So he leaked it... to his discord e-kittens.Still funny though because he'd really need to be a complete retard to think this was not going to blow up in his face. How hard is it to keep your mouth shut ? It's the easiest job in the world, you literally have to do nothing.Wonder if he got any sanctions from Volvo.
>>740050594end of year is highly possible, since christmas is when people spend the most money. but since the game is still stomp city even with the urn change they rushed, no much hope.
>>740067197Protip when thinking about Valve meeting deadlines: take whatever number you're thinking of, add 2 months and then double it.
How do I play this blue nigga? I like his abilities but constantly get my ass handed with 2 digit deaths>t. 15 hours on Deadlock
>>740029840Ban her. Or pick characters that don't have to deal with her like McGuinness or maybe one of the flyers.
>>740069186Spirit build
>>740069186Build spiritDon't heavy melee until you get the second upgrade on his shoulder slam
>>740052351people like you actually need to be killed. play a chinkoid bug person game like league instead of ruining this one, thanks.
>>740022458valve still got the sauce man game is pure SOVL
>>740030179She's the bestI wish women like her were real
>>740030583>in dota at some point added comeback mechanicsRETARDDota has had comeback mechanics long before people started complaining about them. Players with higher net worth have ALWAYS been worth more to kill and had longer respawn timersThe memeback patch just buffed those values to an egregious amount
>>740022458>invite-only alpha == full release
>>740060698>I didn't sign an NDA so I can stream itdunno if extremely based or extremely retarded, but the one thing I enjoy about modern "content creators" is seeing people who would've been flipping burgers 30 years ago under the spotlight and seeing how they mess up being given money and attention. It's even funnier when you think the invites were given by some out of touch community manager that never plays vidya and just looked at channel theme+sub count and after the leak thought "he did WHAT?"
>>740071453>seeing people who would've been flipping burgers 30 years ago under the spotlight and seeing how they mess up being given money and attention. This just happened to a Deadlock content creator named Metro. Guy got outed for sexting a 16 yo girl and now his career is kaput
>>740060698Where can I find the stream? I want to hear what he said about it at the time.
>>740071697Couldn't be me, I know women find me repulsive.
>>740022458>Duuuude what if Dota but overwatch! LAMO They know it's cultist slop and they also know cultists will pay thousands of dollars for digital knives when the market place is integrated
icefrog is brown therefore has no imagination or soul
>same piss stained pre alpha objective for over a year>make it worse solely because you want viral clips>game still has no macro
>>740073759Icefraud created or at least popularized a new genre though.>>740073909Trust the plan
>>740028175>Marathon is a better game than Deadlock actually.False.>But Dota mogs both. Also false.
>>740074601he didnt create dota. he contirbuted to the growth in popularity but it was popular long before he got on
>>740076629redpill me on Marathon, should I try it for free unironically?
>>740078920It's free and has a small install size, so why not?
>>740078996I dont think its free just yet, im looking at the steam page and not seeing anything thats free.Since it's a Bungie game, should I play on pad or kb+m fine?
>>740079114>I dont think its free just yetRight, that's in 2 hours, I think.>Since it's a Bungie game, should I play on pad or kb+m fine?I play with KB+M. Can't imagine playing an FPS with a controller, even if there is aim assist.
Damn bro asking the hard questions I guessor idk this is /v/ after playing on pad is like blasphemy or some shit
Its not free, it takes your soul one match at a time.
>>740076629holy shit taste faggot LMAO
>>740060698>before Valve opened the floodgates the invite were curatedWhen are you considering "opened the floodgates"? Because I got an invite like many people on here before that giant spike in invites happened. There didn't seem to have been all that much control beyond "make sure not to invite too many people at once".Unless you're suggesting valve relaxed the curation precisely at the point that the game got leaked. Still weird they expected things to stay hidden without an NDA.
>>740083989i think it was september or august 2024
>>740052054>nail desing>on top of that, fucking amazing VAi don't know how but valve knows how to make memorable characters (l4d,tf2 etc)
>>740083989The invite tree thing which happened in late May 2024 (people were limited to three invites or at least they thought so and it was done only by email), then later then opened it even more by using Steam Friend list and uncapped the number of invites you could give. Before that the test was 100% private, the catalyst for opening the floodgates was Dane leaking the game. The only thing they had to do to keep the game a secret was just to not invite actual retards. The only clues we had about Deadlock before that was mentions of Neon Prime or Citaled here and there by dataminers.
>>740022458Fun characters, some faggotry, but deadlock's a super fucking boring slop ass game. I can't believe anybody mains any game with matches exceeding 25 minutes it's inexcusable to have a single match drag on that fucking long. It adds no value or merit to the map which is still 95% crates after years in dev. There's more you can do with MOBA than copypaste the exact same bullshit from the other MOBAs and the team on deadlock is wasting what's right in front of them. Urn change alone is a damning proof that valve want slop instead of innovation which was supposed to be their company mission right?Street Brawl is everything wrong with the game except the timer. The status and item power creep rapidly starts to ruin regular matches but in street brawl it's nothing but that lategame cancer. Deadlock is already in a situation similar to TF2's cancer era in how terrible the new equips started to destroy gameplay quality with stupid effects and gimmicks but here it's more serious because you're a hostage for most of an hour. Once the timer gets beyond around 15~ the gameplay quality fucking nosedives. Abilities have such random upgrade path status bonuses, there's all sorts of stupid little bandaids on character growth and abilities, individual restrictions to patch over how poorly designed shit is, radioactive character mechanics, instead of phasing out stupid shit like the magic carpet they try to force people to use it with buffs, nothing has elegant understandable design but when it does some kind of cancer is glued on because the slop powercrept it. Which goes back to the urn where it's the same story random resistances slop functions arbitrary timeouts but there's a mountain of negativity being ignored and god knows how many dozens of superior suggestions on their forum to fucking replace this thing. I don't believe in valve improving deadlock they just have a cult following willing to play games as bad as DOTA CS2 TF2 and now Deadlock.
>>740085170But I like Deadlock
>>740083384We love Rimjobworld here.
>>740085170>I can't believe anybody mains any game with matches exceeding 25 minutes it's inexcusable to have a single match drag on that fucking long. It adds no value or meritIt creates STAKES retard, it gives a reason to take shit seriously or suffer the consequences and it rightfully filters out the bitches
>>740070905>. Players with higher net worth have ALWAYS been worth more to kill and had longer respawn timers>The memeback patch just buffed those values to an egregious amountnot true only players with killstreaks were worth more and that went either way its not like in 82 and 83 where you would get so much gold getting wiped in your base buying back and then wiping the enemy would give you so much gold the networth gap would get resetted
>>740035676Nobody forces you to release on Steam and you still can sell it outside of it. Yet you get a platform and infrastructure for that. Most modern vidya companies waste far more money on marketing than 30%.
