The technology behind those beacons was lost long ago, but if anybody at GW ever remembers they exist, I could see them potentially coming back as a replacement for E, assuming they ever remember that STCs also exist, and Cawl doesn't just have to invent everything himself. There's also some evidence of limited realspace FTL travel using cosmic background radiation to power ships, also long-lost tech. Humanity in the DAoT was pulling off shit that was just as if not more advanced than even Aeldari tech, but then the elves couldn't keep it in their fucking pants and blew up the galaxy with a futa god (and we might have made sapient machines that killed trillions of people, but that's neither here nor there). On the bright side, the thing they created instantly killed about 90% of their species and whenever one dies anywhere, their soul gets snatched up by their god and basically sent straight to hell, assuming they don't trap it in a gem to keep it from ever entering the warp in the first place.
