Why cant you cunts ever be happy, the fact that they're releasing gaming capable hardware should be a good thing.

You will own nothing and you will be happy

So basically all future games will be built for ARM pcs while we get no new parts or games and will either be forced to swap to their new prebuilts or be forced to give up gaming when our pc inevitably dies?

Nvidia is introducing SoC (system on chip) PCs for Windows. What Apple Silicon did for their ecosystem, Nvidia is now doing for PC. Because the RAM is integrated into the same CPU/GPU chip it can be shared as an integrated pool with much higher amounts than conventional GPU RAM, which is very useful for AI: GPUs with 128GB RAM are being floated now.

They have previously released mini-PC's like this since 2016, but at way higher cost points, and to basically no demand.
>Nvidia founder Jensen Huang has noted that when the system first launched, almost no one wanted to purchase it.
>It required heavy educational efforts from NVIDIA to convince early adopters and researchers in academia of its value
That was at $130k per machine in 2016, and the latest batch in 2025 was $5k per machine with close enough specs.
If it's cheap enough it might sell well.

>>
>>740046401
ARM is a limited instruction set that many things are not programmed for. But everything on Apple has been coded for ARM since they made the switch to Apple Silicon. And everything on Nintendo Switch has been programmed for ARM. There's no inherent limitation for software to make to switch to ARM.

One downside is everything is integrated into the chip, so no updating modular components.

It's not about opcodes, it's about architecture.
The apple silicon did bet on WIDE PIPELINE and it was a good bet.
You can make a x86-64 CPU with WIDE PIPELINE as well, mostly because no x86 CPU is actually a x86 CPU since the pentium pro.

>>740048436
If some other company can outperform them then let them do it. Pointless to prop up losers (Intel, AMD, etc.). Look at most of the computing companies from the 80s and 90s that aren't around anymore: the inventor of PCs (IBM) haven't made PCs or PC components for decades. Apple is still going strong because they compete and lead the market.

Denuvo doesn't need to be integrated into PCs like this because these PCs can come with hardware attestation just like android. Windows computers already basically all have a TPM model which is the same thought process as the TEE shit in android. You won't have to worry about Denuvo but you also won't be able to install or pirate anything that you want to install in the future. The revanced lead dev was also talking about chrome trying to force web attestation as well which would also prevent people running custom clients for websites.

Monopolies are incredibly easy to regulate as they as a lone target. The main hypothetical issue is lack of innovation and constraint of supply because of lack of market pressure: neither of which are relevant here, lack of supply is entirely demand driven and pace of innovation is causing the problems, not lack of it. They're problems for the 2050s.

ARM is fake-open. Anyone can make it but they have to pay a license. It's barely better than x86 except AMD and Intel both make Qualcomm and mediatek look like jokes.
ARM also kind of sucks. It's good on mobile because it is power efficient but it loses hard to x86 when you need big strong cores(like games) not a bunch of weak ones(like a server). After ~35-50 watts they lose to x86 for example.
No one has made an ARM core that competes with x86 in a core to core comparisons using the same level of lithography. Apple chips only compete by using more expensive lithography not a better designed chip.
>>
>>740046545
This, plus I hate AI on a conceptual level.
>>
>>740045037
ARM truly is the future. is more compact, faster data transfers, more efficient, etc. it's literally PC 2. The problem is that it's hard to develop but if they can manage to do it at affordable prices (lmao), then in the next 10 years we can probably make the switch to it.
>>
You're all stupid, this isn't a replacement to x86, what's actually happening is PC companies agreed to stop making DIY GPUs and started buying up RAM and SSD for AI. Nvidia's, AMD's, Intel's, and Qualcomm's goal is to kill off the DIY PC disguised as a war between x86 vs ARM on efficiency. PC gaming is becoming prebuilds going forward (desktops, laptops, handhelds). There will be special prebuilds either powered by SteamOS or has the Xbox Helix chip in them. Valve and Microsoft will make reference prebuilds (Valve: Steam Machine, Steam Frame, Steam Deck 2) (Microsoft: Xbox Helix, Xbox Helix OEM handheld that they co-developed). All of these with cost between $1000-$5000. Older PCs will be forced to use the cloud for gaming with limits applied. And yes, Valve is very much a part of this too. This is the future of PC gaming, enjoy.

I know we're all epic hardasses here but this is really fucking bad

I've been dreading this ever since the Apple M1, I knew in my bones that everyone else would want to get in on that cancer
If this concept takes off, then eventually markets will wither so that you'll never again be able to buy
>RAM
>a CPU
>a video card
>an SSD
You'll get what's soldered to the computer you bought in the first place, and that's it
And that's before you even get into the walled garden, where said computer really, really doesn't want you to install or run anything unless you're getting it directly from the Microsoft App Store
And of course since it's a fresh new architecture, if all of the developers jump to it then existing x86 software will just wither away into nothing

I know (you) are super based and a epic nerd and it's not your problem but the worst case scenario is that the entire concept of repairing, upgrading and freely operating a PC becomes as niche as, say, being on fucking IRC or Usenet is right now
>>
>>740046575
>cannot afford
You seem to have missed the memo. This is no longer a matter of affordability, but of availability. The average goy will not be sold personal computing hardware anymore, because it won't be made. Come eight or ten years and most existing PC hardware will die and with no new parts being made, this will spell the end of the era of personal computing for most.

I never said they would be champions of freedom, I was referring to market competition. It's very obvious that with how entangled with the US government Nvidia has become, it has become able to influence the process of legislature, so it can now legislate against competition to prevent its monopoly from being broken apart by legitimate competition in a free market environment. This is a clear rebuttal of what that anon had been saying. Your response to me has nothing to do with the conversation at hand.

I should be excited about this why, exactly? Apple did the same thing and it was also gay. At least you can install Linux on some of those Apple ARM devices but software support is fucked anyway unless you only want to run the newest goyware. There are plenty of older emulators that simply do not have ARM builds because they weren't updated for a few years. I can see the appeal for laptops etc. due to lower temps or power consumption but this doesn't benefit desktops at all. Arm gives better processing power per wat, physically smaller form factor and less overheating. It's actually a game change, the only problem is that x86 is already too popular and tested to be ditched for a new architecture. That's why for now it's mostly just used for portable devices.

This is literally everything I predicted since the first ram shortage was reported.
They're making Nu-computers which can barely do shit by themselves, but their main purpose is to connect to the big datacenter for the Rent-a-PC so that you're always being surveilled while using the computer, because you have to use remote computing.

It's a death sentence to modding and piracy, and playing games on local hardware. This is a big scam, that's turning home owned computers into something you lease and connect to remotely, and the PS6 or PS7 is also going to be a Cloud-Only console. The only problem they needed to solve was "how do we get people to use an interface with a screen that they feel like they own" and this is their answer.

Apple's hardware is a complete walled garden. Of course you can't run it, because they design it that way. Other software is not designed in such a way, and if it is it's just as bad. So you don't even know what you want and you only want to be perpetually mad about the "globohomo dogma".
What freedoms? I think owning your hardware and being able to run it with nothing but a steady supply of AC is pretty free and we had that for decades.
"Reasonably optimized"? Bitch about game developers constantly wasting the unprecedented levels of available compute instead of bitching about the GPU manufacturers since that's the trendy thing to do.
Reasonable prices is the only thing that you could complain, but here's the kicker: you don't have to upgrade every year. Nor do you have to buy new. I bought a used 3090 before the pricing went AWOL and it's serving me insanely well, it runs any vidya I'd want at good performance and I don't feel like I need to buy the newest and greatest now or I'll bitch about Nvidia or AMD or Intel not giving me what I want, and what I'd ideally want is freebies.

Like I said, gamers are entitled, ungrateful pricks that don't even know what they want. All they've been told by mongoloids like Steve Burke to be mad and angry and fling shit like an ape. Gamers will be their own undoing, not the AI market.

Lack of any standardization, which the "open and welcoming" Linux community calls a strength, means that no one wants to develop software for Linux. Do you write your software for X11? Wayland? If Wayland, what's up with having to handle the rendering protocols yourself? Debian? Arch? Fedora? Flatpak? AppImage? How the hell are you supposed to distribute your software? And I get yelled at if I say this is a bad thing? That I'm the problem? Okay, go fuck yourself then!

Oh look, on Windows everything's been standardized for decades. DWM handles window rendering for me and I only have to compile for x86, x86-64 and Arm, with one and done packaging that'll work on every instance of this OS family. Wow, that's exactly how it should be!

And before you cope, yes it is an inherent Linux issue. You can't expect support for your dinky little toy OS if you make it actively hostile for companies to develop software for your OS. Without software worth a shit to use, no one will care about your OS and it won't get any better, and the entire reason no one wants to use Linux is because Linux developers are allergic to doing things their way, they've huffed their farts so much they forget how they stink.

Android is "Linux" and it took over the world. Why? The entire framework around the kernel is designed by sane people, and it incentivizes platform support. This is what (You) and the rest of your cultist friends will never admit you'd have to do to finally become relevant, so all you have left is impotent coping and seething.

The best part about the freedom LARPers of the Linux world, they don't give a fuck about the freedoms they're given anyway. All of these contradictions and double standards all so that they can run a web browser and shitpost online. Since that's all they ever do with their "free" desktops when you look closer.

They have figured out that AI as a whole has a training ceiling and will also not be profitable once local hardware can give you 99% of the experience of data center AI and it's not economically viable to just not sell to consumers so they are forcing a PC market shift where they will be the new top player or at least can control the whole PC hardware market.

hey anon, look up any qualcom based snapdragon laptop, like a lenovo slim 5, or 7, which were the units we were asked to integrate.
find for me, where you can get the official drivers without using the "automatically install through lenovo vantage", which will not let you update drivers if you're not in the current stage of the roll-out, even to fix a critical failure that lenovo themselves acknowledge as the cause of the issue, but are unable to supply you with the drivers, even through enterprise service ticket,s because you literally "cannot just run a driver update on arm64 based chips"

maybe we got their service department on a bad day, maybe we just got 20 faulty devices, maybe one of our IT guys pissed in the lenovo technicians coffee 20 years ago, who knows.

but trying to get industry standard software, which is working in 40 other companies of the same industry locally, should not lead to data corruption in a seperate database because poorly defined crash log pathing drop files in the last active websocket, and have the response be "its only on this range of devices, the fix is in the works, but this isn't usually an enterprise model"

but at least we now get a say in tech purchasing after 6 years of this bullshit.

The benchmarks are from DGX Spark which is intended for AI and already available.
The new RTX Spark doesn't have benchmarks yet. But they have the same architecture with same amount of cores and Ai performance according to specs.
>>
>>740045037
This is exciting news though, not because of the shitty fucking RTX Spark, but because of the trickle down implications of ARM on the Desktop, anti-cheat measures supporting ARM indirectly (first on Windows only), etc. This could be good in the long-run for mobile Linux, no? Am I just fucking retarded or what?

Can someone answer if this would be only for text llms or 3d/image generation.? My understanding is all major 3d modeling and rendering uses x86 and graphics chips like cuda/firepro.

This seems like a scam to me. The data centers will not be using these. They use server racks with multiple Nvidia cuda gfx cards in tandem. They're doing this because they want farms for world simulation to predict the future and train robotics in 3d environments and also do image/video generation. This spark device being arm based seems like it would only be useful for llms and vibe coding.
>>
>>740085707
you can't predict the world or simulate it, you can just guestimate outcomes and calculate them, so just use fucking boolean logic simulating that fact with a bellcurve and checking events whenever a day loads up, gamers already knew this much when playing tabletop RPGs its not rocket science.

They already have enough data to send you ads based off your thought patterns. It's not even based off something you say anymore. They can predict when women are pregnant before they even know it.

If they use all your data and data from iot and feed it into the Sims like simulation they will 100% be able to predict the future. It's why they're making fucking data centers twice the size of Manhattan.
>>
>>740086418
Categorizing someone's thoughts is easier than predicting the future accurately, remember the huge trump fiasco? yeah, unpredicted by them. Want to predict future? Trust the odds of the foreign betting sites that have no other bone in the game than making money and selling their service to customers and don't have gang ties.
